OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Add the Avali race for future planetary and star system submissions, which will feature in a Rimward Trade League story arc also.
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: Satorian, Telepathy
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Avali
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins: Xak Tharakus, Outer Rim
  • Average Lifespan: 600 ~ 800
  • Estimated Population: Planetary (Male Pop 12,000~, Female Pop 37,000~), Scattered (Male, Pop 123,000~ Female Pop 7,000~)
  • Description:
    • An Avali is a large multi-limbed serpent with avian-like traits. The species exhibits sexual dimorphism with females being larger than their male counterparts, but lacking the brightly coloured sometimes iridescent scales and feathers of their partners. Adult Avali possesses multiple sets of limbs, including wings that can be used for gliding in males but not powered flight, hind and forelimbs.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average Height of Adults:
    • Females - 1.6~1.8m
    • Males - 1.4~1.6m
  • Average Length of Adults:
    • Females - 4~6m
    • Males - 2~4m
  • Skin color:
    • Females - typically dull monotone colours.
    • Males - typically dull colours featuring sometimes patterned two tones (normally inherited from their parents), rarely these scales may be iridescent.
  • Hair color:
    • Females - Plumage colours usually be an off-tone of their scale colour, rarely they may feature slightly more colourful plumage.
    • Males - Plumage colours vary usually bright in contrast to their scale colour.
  • Distinctions:
    • Hatchlings (0~9) - Hatchling Avali live predominantly in the water and have specific aquatic adaptations that they begin to lose as they approach the age of 10. This includes spined fins that run the length of their bodies and camouflaged scales. While being no means defenceless they are reliant upon their parents for protection and sticking to the shallows of the reef.
    • Young Avali (10 ~ 59) - Young Avali are not seen frequently beyond the safety of Xak Tharakus. They are comparatively small in beginning life with a body length of about 30cm, growing by about 1~3cm each year until the age of 60 when they begin maturing. Young Avali besides their small size, are most easily identifiable by their lack of plumage which becomes more prominent as they near adulthood. It's at this age that individuals begin to gain independence and develop their personalities. Additionally, later in their development young Avali dietary requirements shift to omnivores.
    • Mature (60~110) - Mature Avali is denoted by significant size and muscle growth growing to their full size by the age of 70. Males will begin to grow their wings and females will begin developing their telepathic potential through training and study.
    • Adult (110~500) -
      • Adult males continue to gain muscle mass, particularly around the wings up to the age of 130 by which time their plumage will have fully developed and finally, their scales begin to take on deeper and brighter colours. If a male has any telepathic potential it usually stops here as their training shifts to align with their duties in the Migrant Fleets.
      • Adult females will retain much of their appearance, although telepathic abilities continue to grow with age and practice their wings remain mostly useless outside of courtship and other rituals.
      • Later into adult life, they may begin suffering from the effects of Avarice (See weaknesses).
    • Elder (500~600) - Elder Avali begin to lose their colour with scales becoming partially translucent and females producing white plumages and males black. Most Avali die sometime during the century this begins to occur, while rare individuals may live just over 600.
  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: All* (Please ensure you read Weaknesses and Culture for more information)
Strengths:
  • Natural Weapons [Racial] - An Avali beak is strong enough to crush bone and penetrate most natural unprocessed materials, their talons can cut exposed flesh or slice fabric. However, they make blasters and intricate devices sometimes difficult to manipulate.
  • Natural Armour [Racial] - An Avali's hide is thick enough to function as light armour in most circumstances, being resistant to Kinetic forces and offering minor protection from energy.
  • Intelligent - The species while not being a significant military power has shown itself to be highly resourceful and adaptable, feats often attributed to their apparent intellect.
  • Telepathy & Glamors [Racial]- The Avali are capable of Telepathy, if trained and honed this can extend to related feats. The most notable use is the creation of what the Avali call Glamors, essentially illusions designed to confuse or deceive targets. This is a Force ability that innately manifests, although effective usage still requires decades of practice and training a luxury rarely afforded to male members of the species.
    • Greater Glamour [Female] - Female Avali are especially talented in this field being able to affect multiple targets, or produce more intense illusions. This is the result of two factors, the first is time, females have far more opportunities to practice and train with their mothers and natural talent. Males capable of this are an exception.
  • Vestigial Wings [Male] - Male Avali can carry themselves in a glide. However, they are incapable of powered flight.
Weaknesses:
  • Exotic Physique [Racial] - Avali cannot wear armour that isn't designed for them specifically. Similarly, small blasters are awkward to use and not often accurate when used meaning melee is often preferred.
  • Flock Mentality [Racial] - The Avali are social creatures and can easily become depressed or begin to develop mental conditions if they are isolated for too long.
  • Avarice [Racial] - Due to their competitive nature it's possible for some Avali to succumb to a condition simply known as Avarice, caused by a hormonal imbalance the condition causes individuals to forsake their peers in the pursuit of something they highly value, it can be anything from wealth to knowledge and usually manifests later in life. Like Satorians, in extreme cases, Avali may be expected to ritualistically kill themselves if discovered.
  • Force Sensitivity* [Society] - Avali's abilities are dependent upon having access to the Force, and thus will not be able to use Telepathy or its associated abilities with individuals or upon them, if they are either naturally immune or having the connection interfered with by Force Dampening effects. For example, species such as the Yuuzhan Vong or Ysalamir. Furthermore, the absence of the Force can create psychological problems. This usually manifests as migraines which left unresolved may evolve into more permanent conditions.
  • Slow Breeders [Society] - The race, on the whole, reproduced slowly primarily due to the societal separation of males and females. Females themselves will usually only mate after their children have matured which can take a century.
  • "Nation of Shopkeepers" [Society] - Avali are well aware of their vulnerability and are not often willing to go to war, preferring to instead remain neutral until their hand is forced.
  • Competitive [Society] - Avali are competitive and will constantly try to prove themselves superior to their peers. This is especially true of the Guilds that regularly will compete with each other. For females, their choice of the battlefield is usually on the Political, Resource, or Artistic side while males may compete through trade negotiations and ritualistic combat. Both genders may regularly encourage their Satorian servants to compete in challenges of skill, or create workloads for the sole purpose of seeing whose Satorians can complete the work in the most efficient time.
  • Isolationist [Historical] - Due to several recent events (far as the Avali guilds are concerned), they are generally distrustful of outsiders. In the last century, only a few figures can say they have visited an Avali Teocalli Class Guild ship. Even fewer have set foot on the home world.
CULTURE
  • Diet:
    • Carnivore (primarily fish and insects) - Children (Upto ages of 40~)
    • Omnivore - Young Avali (41+, most adults while capable of eating meat prefer fruits and other flora.)
  • Communication:
    • Spoken Language - Avali males are usually multilingual learning the languages of the cultures they have been exposed to while serving in a Migrant Fleet. As a result, it's rare to find a male Avali incapable of at least Galatic Basic. Their native language, to outsiders, is not unlike bird songs featuring clicks, caws, tweets, and so on. Females tend to be less familiar with Galatic Languages being more reliant upon telepathic capabilities.
    • Body Language - Avali have some control over their plumages which are used to communicate. Anyone particularly involved with avian species can probably judge an Avali's mood from the position of its feathers. For example, a ruffled plumage usually suggests either frustration or excitement.
    • Telepathy - Avali possesses some level of Telepathic ability allowing communication between individuals. Males tend to be less proficient usually only having a 'sixth' sense manifesting as an empathic sense. Females use this as their preferred method of communication. The effective range of this ability is dependent upon an individual's proficiency.
  • Technology level: Galatic Equivalent except as noted
    • Exotic Technology - Technologically the Avali have developed independently from the rest of the Galaxy. While their technologies are comparable to those commonly found throughout the Galaxy they are usually perceived as 'alien'.
    • Terraformers [Advanced] - Avali understanding of terraforming technologies rivals that of Yuuzhan Vong. Following the war, their engineers and scientists were consulted on undoing much of the damage done by the war. Currently, the Avali have 'failed' in terraforming two worlds and succeeded in three consecutive attempts, another two projects were lost in the aforementioned war. Currently, the Avali are preparing to Terraform a sixth.
    • Biology [Advanced] - The Avali's knowledge of Terraforming is influenced in part by their understanding of biological processes. They are capable of producing advanced pharmaceuticals and have become heavily invested in fighting against diseases such as the Gulag Virus.
  • Religion/Beliefs:
    • Thirteen Heavens - While not being a particularly theological race many Avali subscribe to the idea of the Thirteen Heavens, a religious sect that has followed them throughout their history which attempts to explain the origins of the Avali race. According to this creation belief, the Avali were born from the blood of a deity known as Ixtal and landed in the Ayauh Cozamalotl.
      • Ixtal is usually represented as a thirteen-headed serpent. She is neither good nor evil rather being portrayed as a force of nature with each head claiming to rule over one of the thirteen heavens. Xak Tharakus, their home world is considered the first of these.
      • Huitizil meanwhile is better known as the Changer. His actions in lore usually bring about great change sometimes for better and sometimes for worse. In the above example, he was fighting for Xak Tharakus' freedom.
        • Those who follow this belief system do not perceive Heaven to be as other races might, a paradise. Xak Tharakus is already, in their mind paradise. Most of the heavens are hostile unforgiving realms where a soul goes to be punished.
        • As a result, any Avali that die in service to the Guild or defence of Xak Tharakus is usually cremated on the Homeworld, where it is believed their spirits will reside protected from Ixtal. It is therefore usually requested that Avali bodies be returned if they die off-world to receive the proper burial rites, or risk being captured by Ixtal.
        • Currently, the Ometeotl Guild maintains and provides religious services to other Guilds. They are the only Guild that currently enjoys free access to the Homeworld, necessary to carry out their duties.
      • The Force - Generally, most Avali have come to accept their species is not capable of using the powers exhibited by the so-called Jedi and Sith. For those in the scientific professions, it is merely a mystery that has not yet been adequately explained (midiclorians aside). For others, however, it is the holy grail something unobtainable and yet within their reach. It is no secret that some Avali secretly or jealously hoards Jedi and Sith artefacts for study, hoping somehow to unlock this power. While such things are a worthy tribute to present to mates, the study itself is seen as problematic by others as those who pursue it rarely benefit the Guilds.

This has become increasingly problematic with time, particularly as the Satorians themselves are known to be capable of such feats. More recently, a scandal involving a once acclaimed scientist brought this issue to the fore after it was discovered they had been experimenting on their Satorian subjects to try and unlock this power. Naturally, this didn't sit well with the responsible Guild and they were quickly exiled from the Migrant Fleet. (For more information see Culture)
        • In regards to the Satorians on this matter, Avali is surprisingly complicit in sending Force-Sensitive Satorians to Jedi or Sith enclaves for training. Unofficially, this is done to try and hide the fact that Satorians have something the Avali do not, as it would contradict the current Satorian belief that Avali is in some way the Divine Servants of Xihuitl.

  • General behaviour:
Naming Conventions
Traditionally, Avali is not given names by their parents at birth due to the risk associated with losing children to predators. While such instances are extremely rare it's not unheard of. At the age of 10, they will be given a name by their parents which usually denotes some aspect of the child's personality or appearance. At the age of 70, the Guild to which the family belongs will present them with another name which takes prominence with the given name becoming a sort of nickname used by family and friends. Occasionally, the Guild may reward the individual with additional names similar to a title something that is perceived as an honour.

Over time these usually accumulate, meaning the oldest Avali tend to have complex names not easily pronounced by outsiders, or even their kind. In such circumstances, most Avail will refer only to their preferred name followed by a title such as Quetzilla the Illustrious. That being said, some stubborn Avali remain adamant that their peers refer to them in full. Usually, this results in awkward, but sometimes amusing conversations being observed by outsiders, other times it can be used to frustrate or punish peers.

Addressing an Avali by their family-given name is taken as an insult unless they shared this information with the individual. In the event, an Avali is exiled their Guild name and any subsequent name(s) or titles are stricken from the records.

Civilian Life
Young Avali are commonly raised on Xak Tharakus the Avali home world and cared for primarily by their mothers. They spend most of their young lives studying the skills necessary to survive in later life. Much of what they learn is dependent upon two factors, the first being their membership in a particular guild and the second, being gender. This is because females and males have wildly different concerns within their respective Guilds. Female Avali traditionally reside upon planetary bodies, and those who join the male-dominated Guild Fleets usually do so to further some personal goal, but most concern themselves with matters of politics, capital, control of resources, and administration of cities and settlements.

In contrast, males might be considered by many to be nomadic residing primarily within the so-called Migrant Fleets that travel the Galaxy in search of technology, access to desirable trade, and planets potentially suitable for Terraforming projects that help drive their economy. In short, they are explorers, merchants, navigators, and when necessary defenders of the home world with Guilds usually specialising in one aspect or another.

Most Avali relationships are built upon this division of society, with females requiring male fleet groups to safely transport goods and raw materials, as well as provide defence for their home territories. In contrast, male Avali are dependent upon females who often control the Anchorages and Starports to build, arm, provision, and repair their starships and also to retrieve objects of great worth and value which are perceived as status items to females and often used as gifts for Courtship.

Military Life
The responsibility of males and Satorians is to protect the home world, and all Migrant Fleets have some combat experience under their belt. Males are expected to spend at least a day a week practising their martial combat, and females on the home world will arrange 'Flower Wars' with Satorian servants to ensure they can, if necessary, function as a Planetary Defence Force commanded by the so-called Custodians - a generic term for male Avali currently residing upon the home-world. This being said, Avali is not a warlike species. Perceiving the cost of war to be financially and culturally significant, and with recent conflicts being defensive wars.

On the planetary theatre, Avali tactics primarily involve fighting from fortified positions within their cities, with Satorians equipped with blasters and other ranged weaponry. Usually, despite their weaknesses, Satorians rarely break morale in the presence of their masters making life difficult for attackers. Overall though, they will inevitably collapse and it serves to delay while Migrant Fleets prepare a counter-offensive.

Avali victories have all taken place in the System Theatre, where they engage starships in close quarters, using their heavy armour to absorb damage while boarding actions are made against Capital Ships. An initial wave is usually formed of Couatl Battle Droids, accompanied by Satorian technicians and fire teams followed by a few strike teams consisting of several Avali. Satorians provide ranged firepower, while the Avali engages in close quarters which doesn't usually end well for anyone involved.

Besides that, their greatest offensive power lies in their superiority fighters and Satorian droids.

Courtship
Once every few decades a Migrant Fleet will return to the home world to resupply and offload raw materials. During this time, some male Avali may be permitted to take leave on the Homeworld usually given as a reward for their achievements while serving the Guild. With them, they will take an entourage of their most valuable Satorians and a gift, the more exotic and rare the gift the greater the chance they have of catching the attention of a female.

They will spend about six months on Xak Tharakus, travelling between towns and cities seeking a suitable partner. As they arrive females may take pride in their work displaying their achievements usually in the form of impressive structures. Inevitably, both sexes must prove their worth to each other and then, if necessary seek permission from their respective guild leaders. This is a lengthy process, typically with deals and contracts being formed in the background. Sometimes without the prospective couple's knowledge usually a Guild will take ownership of the couple in exchange for assets which can sometimes include any future offspring, starships, or prominent Satorian servants.

Once agreed, the male is released from service and permitted to reside upon the Homeworld for as long as any associated contracts exist, these agreements are usually renewed under new terms but ultimately he is no longer expected to serve aboard the Migrant Fleet. Traditionally, when they are ready to produce offspring (usually once every century) both partners will retreat to Ayauh Cozamalotl, a coral reef that is believed to be their ancestral home. A female will usually have a clutch of between 3~4 eggs which hatch after 4 Standard Months.

Both parents are expected to raise their children, and will usually assign trusted Satorians to assist in their child's education and upbringing, most will have gone through 3 or 4 by the Satorians by the time they have matured. Males will be sent off-world just before the turn of a century.

The Importance of Satorians
At this point, one of the greatest assets an Avali can have is a Satorian. Over centuries these weak reptilian humanoids have proven themselves to be of great value, and Avali will pride themselves on the quality of Satorians they have serving under them. Relationships have been cemented by a Guilds acquisition of a prominent Satorian, and many young Avali confides with their assigned aides who serve them loyally.

At this moment in history, the Satorians are picking up the pieces. Following the devastation wrought by the Gulag virus what remained of the Avali economy was picked up by Satorian servants, and to a greater degree saved their society and way of life from collapse. While their relationship remains that of a Master and Servant, the Avali find their mistreatment to be a significant legal issue. In the event, that a Satorian dies of neglect or preventable disease, those involved find themselves becoming social outcasts. However, due to the circumstances of Avarice, they expect Satorians in their service to end their lives before it can take root and begin to negatively affect their personal goals and interests.

Crime and Punishment
Avali follows many of the same conventions as the rest of the Galaxy, the main exception being their stance on slavery. They do not find the concept of ownership of an individual to be particularly problematic, provided the owner of such creatures is providing for their indentured servants. In the event, that an Avali breaks the law it is expected the matter will be handled by their punishment. They do often accept the judgement of intergalactic courts, and any contract signed with a Guild will usually stipulate legal conflicts should be resolved privately or before an independent Avali Guild or Body.

This isn't taken as a means to escape punishment but rather to avoid the sometimes harsh legal punishments found in the Galaxy. They cannot afford to kill their own, or indeed let anyone else do the same. As a result, Avali and to some extent Satorian life is viewed as sacred to the Avali and they will contest anything that threatens it. Incidents have occurred where Guilds have hired mercenaries to prison-break Avali from rival powers.

When issuing a punishment the offending party will usually surrender something of equal or greater value than the perceived offence, this can be assets or Satorian servants. Similarly, males may be denied access to their Homeworld, or exiled which is often considered a veiled death sentence due to their reliance upon each other.

The Force*
True or false the perception is that they simply do not possess a connection to it, at least not in the traditional sense. Despite the applications of Glamors and Telepathy throughout society, it is perceived as a biological trait. Furthermore, the general fear that Satorians may learn of this fact has meant research into the area is highly frowned upon and those that might study it do so in secret fearing isolation.

This stigma and their isolation from the Galaxy has meant the species has no official records of Jedi, Sith, or Force cult involvement. However, it should be noted that such individuals may have existed but were stricken from records and treated as exiles for abandoning their duties. Similarly, someone expecting to pursue these goals may expect their Guild to interfere creating barriers or simply trying to persuade them against leaving the flock.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

For history concerning their connection with the Satorians please refer to the Satorian species entry.

Origins
The Avali originate from the world known to them as Xak Tharakus, meaning First Heaven the planet is the so-called Gaia World. How this came to be is unknown, although outsiders speculate it to be the work of forerunner species' attempts to terraform the planet. Regardless, it is an isolated system and much of its technology has developed independently from the rest of the Galaxy achieving unique but comparable advancements.

In ancient times, the Avali were a tribal people who fiercely competed for resources and access to suitable breeding grounds. Over time these conflicts escalated, and as technology advanced so did their means to annihilate one another. Inevitably, they developed weapons of mass destruction that brought the species close to extinction. It was then that a few of the smaller tribes began to band together forming a confederation that eventually expanded to encompass the entire species.

That Confederation marks the beginning of the modern-day Avali, at the most basic level the agreement was that control over the resources and land Avali coveted would be divided between them, and each would specialise in a particular aspect. Rather than fight for the materials needed, the others would exchange their goods and services for mutual benefit. At first, this seemed to work but over time it has become a complex web of favours, agreements, partnerships, and contracts.

While many of the Guilds still exist today, few have found themselves to be targeted by their rivals. Their nature hadn't changed rather the battlefields shifted to the markets.

The Clone Wars

Before the Clone Wars, the Avali leadership was in negotiations with the Galactic Republic for trade. It was hoped that by tapping into the Galactic Republic, the Avali could extend their influence beyond their home system and establish colonies elsewhere. Equally, the Galactic Republic was interested in their Terraforming technologies, which saw use in agriculture or continued expansion efforts in the Outer Rim.

However, as war broke out between the CIS and Republic the Avali returned to their usual stance of declaring neutrality. It was hoped the war would end swiftly and that any existing trade agreements with the CIS, Republic and Avali Guilds would survive the conflict. True to their word, many Guilds avoided supporting either war machine, but it soon became apparent this wasn't true of all the Guilds.

When a member of the Janaab Pakal Guild was caught in a scandal providing Avali weapons research to the CIS, factions in support of both the republic and CIS began to emerge. In response, trying to avoid a civil war, the leadership acted swiftly to apprehend those involved and suppress the factions with political and economic sanctions. While successful, it didn't stop the CIS from launching an offensive against the Avali in 22BBY to force compliance.

Ironically, this backfired as Avali support for the CIS collapsed when troops landed on the Homeworld and the Guilds unified to move against them and successfully defend the Homeworld. Shortly after, talks resumed about joining the Galactic Republic, although never officially concluded.

Galactic Empire

At first, the Avali welcomed the formation of the Galactic Empire under Emperor Palatine, and for the most part, they benefited from the Galactic Empire. It offered security and meant no significant conflicts would break out. It sounded reasonable, and Avali Guilds were encouraged to comply with the Imperial Regime.

Their system was eventually placed under the jurisdiction of a Moff who recognised the Trade Federation's mistake. Instead, Imperial Forces established barracks and outposts on Sator IV. Meanwhile, he provided trusted male Avali with access to lucrative trade contracts that naturally made them more popular with females enabling indirect control over the populace of Xak Tharakus. Essentially becoming spies whether they realised it or not.

However, this wasn't wholly successful as peers of these individuals would quickly recognise what was happening and often indirectly support the Rebellion through their Satorian allies. However, it wasn't until an unnamed Avali - who was exiled by their Guild and their name was stricken from records - exposed the Imperial exploitation of Satorians on Sator IV that proper action was taken.

In response, some of the Guilds began indirectly funding and supporting Rebellion logistics with their Migrant Fleets. Meanwhile, others began to frustrate Guilds sympathetic to the Imperial Regime by utilising obscure legalities and intentionally delaying the delivery of goods and services or purposefully installing backdoors in software for Rebel agents.

Naturally, the Moff and his allies didn't take kindly to this but despite their best efforts most sympathises slipped the net by taking advantage of overly complicated agreements that often implicated his allies.

Yuuzhan Vong War

In some ways, the Yuuzhan Vong are a reflection of the Avali, both species specialising in Terraforming technologies. This made some Avali believe the invaders could perhaps be reasoned with, like the Empire and Federation before them. However, any hope of peace was dashed when an Avali terraforming project came under attack from Yuuzhan Vong.

They were ill-equipped and ill-prepared despite several warnings from the Republic. Loss were heavy, and the Republic they relied upon for protection quickly retreated from the Outer Rim. When news reached the Homeworld, orders were immediately issued to all Migrant Fleets to return home and prepare for the worst.

This confrontation, although devastating for the Avali this alpha strike did provide useful intelligence that would help them in the battles to come. The Avali invested heavily in bio-weapons, in an attempt to disable or kill the Biological Ships favoured by the Yuuzhan Vong. Outermost planets were converted into fortress worlds, and production lines were converted to serve the Avali war machine.

All the while news of the Republic's defeat began eating away at morale. In response, Custodian Acoatl the Tenacious began a propaganda campaign to suppress information instead of adopting the mantra Xak Tharakus Stands. So long as they held the home world nothing else mattered.

Conflicts with the Yuuzhan Vong were often bloody, with the battlefield extending to the cellular level where Avali deployed bio-weapons and fought chemical compounds used to Worldshape and help dislodge Satorian and Avali defenders. Meanwhile, with the Republic government in disarray and the Avali desperate, they resumed genetic experimentation on the Satorian populations, hoping to improve their combat effectiveness. Sadly, this resulted in unforeseen consequences leading to a condition known only as Avarice. Records of this event were ultimately expunged, fearing the Satorian rebellion if discovered.

By the end of the war, the Avali had lost two colonies with no hope of recovery, and most Migrant Fleets were heavily damaged. Satorian losses counted in the billions and Avali population was reduced so significantly that they feared another conflict would doom the species. The treaties that followed with the Yuuzhan Vong deeply angered the Avali and many to this day refuse to work with the Yuuzhan Vong. Indeed, following this event some Avali would go on to actively hunt them as Bounty Hunters.

However, despite the diplomatic fallout, the Avali would continue to work with the Galatic Republic in recovery, assisting with terraforming projects in exchange for materials they needed to rebuild.

Swarm War / Dark Nest Crisis

Thankfully, the Avali was insulated from these conflicts and did not actively participate in them.

Chaos Epoch

Diplomatic tensions would be tested again with the arrival of the Gulag virus when the Citlalee migrant fleet came into contact. After being recalled for treatment, they inadvertently infected civilian populations on Sator IV. For the Satorians this was fine. They bred quickly, and through sheer numbers alone began developing immunity long before the Avali. The Avali again suffered heavily, once again threatening their species and forcing them to install Satorians in positions of power to prevent societal collapse.

The Avali ultimately blamed the galaxy, and officially closed their borders, regretfully unable to afford further contact if it always invited their annihilation. Only recently, with a change in leadership has the Avali begun to soften their stance, with a policy of expansion leading to reports of large unidentified fleets being sighted near the Outer Rim, often orbiting uninhabited worlds and other strange encounters.

  • Notable Members:
    • Xihuitl (Deceased) - Canonised as a Diety by the Avali, Xihuitl is the patron god of Satorians and is worshipped by them. She was most notable for making first contact with the Satorian race and helping them survive the fallout of the solar flare.
    • Quitzilla the Illustrious - Influential Avali who once led their people, retired to become instead a mentor and teacher to young Avali of the Citalee Guild.
    • Acoatl the Tenacious (Deceased) - A Custodian and former Marshal who led the Avali and Satorian defence against the Yuuzhan Vong.
    • Coaxoch the Ancient (Deceased), Opener of Ways, The Great Unifier, The Undisputed, Architect of Tezcatli, Sentinel of the Heavens, Father of Idra, The Vermillion, Sky Monarch, Keeper of the Vault, and many, many more...

Flower War - An organised conflict usually between two factions, groups, or guilds. It involves a pre-determined number of individuals, and resources, and occurs at a set time and place. Sometimes used to display the prowess of an individual's servants or to resolve disputes between two or more parties. Usually overseen by a third party.
Custodian - Male Avali who has permission to travel and reside upon Xak Tharakus for the purpose of taking a mate, and assisting in protecting their home world from internal and external threats.
Thirteen Heavens - Avali believes in thirteen different realms each controlled by a different entity and is the equivalent to the afterlife. The most important of these is Xak Tharakus, which is believed to be the domain of Ixtal. There is no 'hell' equivalent but not all heavens are equal with some being highly hostile and unfriendly. For outsiders, many of these places can be observed as the planets and moons within the Xak Tharakus system. For example, Xihuitl's heaven is similarly described as Sator IV home to the Satorians.
Guild - Guilds are corporate entities within Avali society that ultimately control many aspects of Satorian and Avali life and compete and trade with each other for valuable resources, trade routes, political power etc.

Most everything looks fine! There's just one issue.

  • Completely Force-sensitive species may not start off with fully developed Force Powers. That is a matter of the individual, not the race. They are born force sensitive, but that is a potential, rather than an absolute. All Force-sensitive species may have passive abilities that do not require training (improved reflexes, low grade pre-cog, etc), but are prohibited from having active abilities (force lightning, telekinesis, etc). Exceptions are made for artificially engineered species (Sithspawn, etc), if they have been tailored for specific abilities. Racial abilities that are not affiliated with the Force (Ex. Zeltron Empathy/Pheromones) are exempted from this. These species should include appropriate weaknesses, such as difficulties with Force Null fields.

As per the species creation rules this species should have an appropriate weakness for their Force sensitivity. Just having them be ignorant of their abilities being Force related isn't a valid weakness that falls in line with what's requested.

Just add something with Force Null fields or such and tag me when you've done so!
