  • Battle Buster: Getting hit by this is not a pretty thing; the power of the cannon can deal serious damage at an enemy ship, usually crippling it when combined with firepower from other weapons systems. Shots placed at essential systems have the potential to completely render a ship useless (although this is rare).
  • Effective against Shields: The speed of the rod fired reduces the defensive effectiveness of deflector shields, further aiding the destructive capabilities of the cannon.

  • Big Boy: This is a massive cannon. Only ships dreadnought size can feasibly equip this, and it takes a lot of energy to operate.
  • Slow Reload Speed: It takes ages to reload this cannon, meaning it is not an effective weapon for skirmishes or quick firefights. Realistically, it can only be fired around every fifteen minutes, and that is with all systems functioning perfectly
  • Poor Accuracy: The cannon is not autonomous; a ship has to completely move to aim the cannon, meaning precise shots are nigh impossible. It is also hard to hit smaller and faster ships, making it only a practical weapon for battlecruisers and larger.
  • Ammo is Costly: Barradium isn't some common metal; each rod costs significantly more than any other piece of ammunition in the Confederacy.

Nicknamed the 'Fleet Buster' and rightly so, the ATX-190 Hypervelocity Cannon is an extremely powerful armament designed solely for the purpose of a unique Super Star Destroyer within the CIS. It's innovative technology uses electromagnetic fields to fire barradium rods at near-lightspeed. The speed of the weapon as well as the properties of Barradium to create a truly devastating impact. The mere speed of the rods severely reduces the effectiveness of deflector shields and other forms of defense, and can seriously damage if not cripple a ship. It is not a weapon without its limitations, though, as the fact that it has to be aimed by maneuvering the ship it is equipped on (and that the ship in question is a slow and has very low maneuverability) means that most ships smaller than a conventional battlecruiser are safe from its destructive gaze. It is also extremely cumbersome to load, and ammo is costly which means wasting a shot is paramount to a demotion.
