APPEARANCE:
Athin Vekarr was not born a beautiful baby nor did he ever become a handsome man. Athin's face has always been a little too round, his cheeks chunky and his jaw so square that his face seems to have sprouted wings on either side of his squished chin. As he grew older these features only became more pronounced and then, to make matters worse for the young man, an Imperial shuttle that was transporting Athin was fired upon by Republic fighters. He was spared death but the blasters that tore through the hull burned away the flesh on the left side of his face, disfiguring him so horribly that not even Bacta treatment could fully repair the skin; leaving him with a tragic burn scar cutting through his otherwise smooth skin.

Biography

Plumes of ash and smoke funnel into the skies above a distant Republican world, turning the vast blue horizons into a sea of black clouds as the once proud cities burn off around Athin. Imperial Stormtroopers clash with Republic Soldiers in a flurry of color in the buildings above, citizens scramble about their ruined homes and the all too familiar crack of lightsabers shakes the air like thunder. Athin just stands in the streets, looking over the final days of the Republic playing out before him. His life had not started here amongst the shattered remains of an innocent city, but his story was just beginning.

Athin was born to Jedi Master Geral Vekarr, a man who would become a respected and peace loving member of the restored Jedi Order. Athin was raised on the values that the Jedi held theirelves too, but he was never forced to enter the order. His father believed that everybody needed to be given the chance to choose their own path and thus, he did not want to force the Jedi way upon his own flesh and blood. Athin would never choose to become Jedi. Instead, he dedicated his life to defending the Republic in a much more direct manner as a soldier within the Grand Army.

Signing up at the age of seventeen, Athin did poorly in basic training; repeatedly being threatened with discharge for his constant conflicts with his drill sergeants and commanding officers. When he finally made it through basic he was stationed at a Republic base where he was assigned to a sanitation detail, a position that would ensure he couldn't cause problems for officers. Athin wouldn't be silence, however, he had joined the Republic military to fight and he wasn't going to be denied his chance to prove himself. Everyday for the next year he wrote letters, sent holotapes and complained to his superiors to transfer him to a unit with deployment potential. Eventually it worked, but not as he had hoped.

Athin was reassigned to a border planet with the Sith, largely considered to be the most dangerous type of assignment in the Republic military. Instead of being in a proper unit, however, Athin was stationed with troops who were sent to recon areas on the planet hit by meteorites to ensure they were not Sith probe droids touching down. These assignments were largely considered suicide by the troops on border worlds as, on the off chance a unit did find a probe droid, it was likely they were all going to be wiped out. This infuriated Athin and sent him down a dark path that fed his hatred for the Republic and drew him closer to the Darkside.

Angry, Athin sought to gain petty revenge and stole Republic equipment; using it to contact the Sith. Over the course of his deployment, Athin sent vital information to the Sith that assisted their spies in pinpointing Republic defenses. When war finally broke out, Athin turn coated and became an Imperial Agent. Satisfaction filled his every footstep as he watched with juvinile joy as the Republic faced onslaught, but this soon drained away as the Sith gained more territory and the massacres grew more horriying. This climaxed at one of many Republic battles as Athin looked on upon the destruction and turmoil. He wanted to go back in time and change what he'd done. But it was too late.

So he ran. He stole a Republic craft and left to seek out his father. He went from Jedi Temple to Jedi Temple, finding them either abandoned or destroyed by the Sith. He searched for weeks before coming across a group of Jedi leading Republic refugees away from the planets lost to the Sith and among them was his father. He embraced his father and father him and when Athin asked what had become of the Jedi, his father had only one thing to say.

"The Order I loved died long ago, son. The Order I served is as good as the rest of the Republic ash now."

His father had decided to leave the order, along with the rest of the Jedi apart of the refugee fleet. They were off to start a new life in the far reaches, away from the Sith and the wars. They were after a myth. A dream that had been passed down from what little record remained from the times before the great plague. The story of an Empire that preserved law in the time of the Ancient Republic, an Empire that gave sanctuary to those wishing to escape the Sith and Jedi.

An Empire where peace was to reign eternal....
