Description:
The Pathfinder-Class exploration craft is designed for long excursions into uncharted territory. As such, it boasts an impressive sensor array, a small drone bay outfitted with a pair of small mechanised rovers for taking samples or extending the ship's sensory range when on the surface of a planet.

High-powered engines to ensure that the vessel can go where it needs to be, and quickly - and given how the Pathfinder boasts a large portion of it's 361M length for storage and equipment, they help a full ship accelerate quickly to hyperspeed. As the engines and sensor arrays on the Pathfinder are so massive and expensive, the ship has been designed to run with twin hypermatter annihilation reactors which provide ample power to the large hyperdrive engine and thrusters.

The modularity of the Pathfinder-class is nearly entirely in the interior of the ship. As a deep-space exploration and research vessel, there are numerous rooms and workstations in the interior of the ship that can be outfitted to match the ship's stated goals - such as a salvage workshop, a science bay to test discovered chemicals and samples, a repair bay, or additional crew quarters. Of the ship's 361M length, about 240M of the total length is devoted to these modular rooms, with the bulk of that 240M length reserved for storage, allowing the Pathfinder to carry a couple smaller freighters inside of itself for transport or security.

The inherent simplicity of the base interior - modular rooms and storage - allows for the Pathfinder to fly with a minimal crew of 2-5 people, even if the ship's stock quarters allow comfortable lodging for about twenty humanoids. Further crew is, of course, recommended if the ship's mission requires manned facilities - for example, a Pathfinder outfitted with chemical research and testing bays would require specialists to crew these facilities. The Pathfinder is built with four escape pods, allowing the evacuation of about twelve people, but it can be outfitted with up to twelve such escape pods.

As the Pathfinder is, for it's size, an incredibly fast ship not intended to engage other craft in combat, it does not boast very many weapons compared with other ships of it's size. A wise pilot will use the Pathfinder's speedy engines and overbuilt hyperdrive engine to escape dangerous situations rather than wading into combat, or utilize the inbuilt long-range sensors to evade confrontation completely. The Pathfinder is laden with expensive equipment and sensors that can and will be damaged in heated combat. The dual hypermatter reactor cores mean that the ship's destruction leaves virtually nothing behind should they be compromised and go critical. In the event of an emergency, either or both of the reactor cores can be jettisoned from the ship - which leaves it unpowered and helpless, hopefully to escape the blast with the backup electric engines.

The twin reactors of the ship are located in the very core of the ship, with the modular facilities built around them. The engines are located on the stern, along with a pair of connor nets to discourage pursuit or attack from that angle. The Connor nets are located on the aft, atop the vessel, and have a full 360 degree range of rotation. Most of the other weaponry on the Pathfinder is forward-facing with minimal rotation. The Hull of the Pathfinder is relatively solid and does not have very many hardpoints. As such, equipping the ship with additional weaponry requires essentially ripping the vessel apart and rewiring a great deal of it - it's more economical to invest in a ship better suited for combat.

The ventilation and life support systems of the Pathfinder are top-notch, both to facilitate the comfort of the crew on long-term journeys, and the designer Alna D'Lessio's way of ensuring that the ship is always comfortable for her partner, who is allergic to Zeltronian pheromones.

In the wake of the Southern Systems Business Expo Auction, Danger Arceneau accepted a bid for a Tibx Contract with Rave Merrill, who provided as a bid 5 Iron Crown T-2000 "Outrider" Otherdrive - Hyperwavefront Arrhythmia Inductor for expansion in trade in Otherspace.

The need to ensure that these five heavy friegthers would have all they would need to survive otherspace and the threat of the Charon saw the purchase of five Pathfinder vessels, a long with a series of modular components that are now installed. These are the following:
Development Thread:

Intent: To put in paper the five ships capable for otherspace travel by ATC and SSB.
Who Can Use This: Restricted ATC personnel given access to by Danger Arceneau.

Ok, I see the work has been done for this for what is has. And that the ship has a decent give on its hanger and weapons. My only request is maybe if you would elaborate on the hanger a little more. And I am going to say that for a ship that size, the crewing is too small. A CR-90 would require 8 minimum, and its smaller than your ship by half. Unless work is put into to explain how it require little crew for all it system I am going to ask that you increase the crew onboard to at least 40 minimum, with optimal being over 100. Seeing how even other instances of Canon Exploration ships like the Xanter Frigate had 150 crew and was about the same size.

This is word for word from this ship that I linked in the sub on what is required for crew, because Alna did the Dev thrrads already for it before. The small crew sized was already approved.

It's not a new ship -- it's just a modification of five passenger class ships previously submitted.

What makes the pathfinder what it is, is that it literally has modular compartments based on various needs as stated in the original tech sub for hanger space, that was already approved before. Hanger space and the modularity of the pathfinder isn't changing.

The only thing different is adding the extra components bought at silk and the other space drive.
