Strengths:
  • Horse power: The AT-AVW is able to smash through or crush pretty much any structure that stands in its way. The walker is able to make a pretty clear path through most anything that stands in its way.
  • Extendable legs: The AT-AVW is able to extend its legs gaining 5 extra feet of height. When the walker does this, it gains temporary extra range for its comms, scanners, and guns. Its nothing really special, its more like how you hold your cell phone up for extra service when all else fails, or how shooting from a higher place gives a greater advantage (due to physics).
  • Magnogrip claws: The bottoms of the AT-AVW's "feet" have magnogrip claws for ease of storage and deployment. When they are loaded on a ship or something, they may be activated to keep the walker from moving, it makes storage and set up a lot easier. Also, if the walker is just standing by waiting in zero/low gravity situations (or just to climb a metal wall or something) these magno grip claws may be activated.
  • An odd assortment of Guns: The AT-AVW's guns are an odd lot, most beings have never encountered them, and most armor or shield systems are not accustomed to them, which makes her an unorthodoxed (and effective) fighting machine.
  • Rapid turn turret: The gun turret moves rather quickly since there is nothing worse than the bad guy coming up along side you and not being able to get him in your sights. So the AT-AVW's turrets move pretty quickly.
Weaknesses:
  • Locked knees: The AT-AVW can extend its legs to gain an additional 5 meters in height. When it does this, the legs are at a greater risk for damage (since this exposes some of the volatile underpinnings and joints that are otherwise guarded), it places her at a greater tipping hazard, and makes the walker temporarily immobile at its max height.
  • Slow going: Speed is a real issue for most all walkers, and the AT-AVW is no exception. But even worse than that is her maneuverability. Taking U-turns with this vehicle is a pain in the butt.
  • Weak firing arcs: If we were to be honest, the AT-AVW's anti-personnel firing arc isn't the best, it has a few blind spots. The forward mounted flechete gun only--well is forward mounted. And while the top mounted particle beam repeater is great for anti-personnel situations, its got a few blind spots, mostly to the opposite of wherever the main gun is pointing.
Description:
Ardgal had a dream one night, of a walker that could hold its own and then some in a combat fight. He envisioned a walker that could smash other walkers, tanks, and speeders, into nothing. Of course, he has these dreams all the time, but this time it was something especially inspirational. And from that, he knew that he would never have an ammosexual dream until he crafted this one weapon of pure power.

He started with the main gun. Ardgal had used Charric tech before, but never on this scale. For a little while he had been looking for an excuse to see what a Megamauser could do when used in the anti-vehicle theater, and needless to say he was not disappointed.

After that, he knew he was ready to move to the auxiliary toys--anti-infantry tools. Now, since the AT-AVW was designed to go at other vehicles, it would rely more on other units and vehicles to cover the issues of infantry assault and such. But still, a front mounted flechete launcher and Particle beam repeater are too great to pass up. And lets be honest, we were all looking for an excuse to get a few more Flechete launchers in our lives.

Now, anti-vehicle stuff is great, but if you don't have some sick launch tubes to go with, what are you in this world? Lacking. The front mounted All purpose launch tubes can hold anything from anti-infantry rounds (in case the flechete repeater and particle beam aren't cutting it) to SAMs to SSMs. Really, its anything that the user could need that launches and shoots on this scale.

Guns are great and all, but what makes the AT-AVW special are the extendable legs. Most legs are just what they are, they move without any opportunity for extension or such. But the AT-AVW is not that way. Unlike a two-segmented servo-only operated pair of legs, the AT-AVW utilizes a tri-part leg system that also uses hydrolics to extend itself another 5 meters. Now the uses of this are great and basically all range: sensor range, comms range, and weapons range. The downside is the tipping hazard and the exposed portions along her legs, so its really something that should only be used with wisdom and caution.

All in all, its just a great walker to be used to rain doom on your enemies.
