DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES

The standard (heat-seeking) guidance system allows the missile to home in on a target, in conjunction to the ion drive, fast enough to allow it to be used against other attack craft or other fast-moving targets. Also, when the bus arrives within standard concussion missile range, it releases its payload of five concussion missiles, ST2s or equivalent-sized projectiles.

Strengths:
  • Can home in on a target
  • Can be used to overwhelm capital ships' point-defense
  • Can bypass ray shields
Weaknesses :
  • Survivability decreases significantly the further away it is fired from
  • Susceptible to sensor jamming
  • The bus' utility decreases significantly against targets faster than a fast corvette
DESCRIPTION: After the campaigns on Kaeshana and Asmeru, it was found that the Volksgrenadiers' cloaking devices, while useful to increase the buses' survivability, were too expensive to be reliably used in protracted campaigns. As with all MIRV-based missiles, the Asmeru features a bus, from which all the warheads that will be ultimately be fired come, and several secondary vectors. But, like its cloaking predecessors, the bus carries its own drive with its own fuel to fly under its own power until the bus reaches effective concussion missile range, at which point the five individual warheads, concussion missiles placed in an hexagonal formation, will be released. The bus, as well as the individual warheads, have their own guidance systems, allowing either multiple warheads to be fired at one target or the warheads of the same bus to be fired at multiple targets. Also, the bus is simply a means of tramsportation for the individual warheads and thus has no extra weaponized components beyond the warheads themselves. It also contains enough fuel to track targets within standard turbolaser range, but once each component runs out of fuel, they become dead-stick and, as such, loses any ability for tracking.

Important note: for fleeting purposes, counts for 1 assault concussion missile towards ammunition
