The Galactic Empire. They were a sickness festering at the heart of the galaxy, a plague whose contamination rate only increase as every day passed. They stood as the ultimate challenge to the rise of the Imperial Confederation, a rival Imperial power that stood in the way of a complete Imperial unification. At the very least factions like the Galactic Alliance and the Lightsworn kept them occupied in the Core Worlds ensuring that their expansion was contained or at the very least slowed down, but eventually the Imperial Confederation would have to confront them and it was vital that they remained a step ahead of them to guarantee total victory should an Imperial Civil War break out between both Imperial factions.

Recently, the Confederation had gained some insight into the Galactic Empire through diplomatic talks between it and the Galactic Alliance, in which it had been allowed to bring a delegation as a neutral third party. While Sularen had been unable to partake in the diplomatic talks having been busy overseeing the aftermath of the failed Invasion of the Thandon Star Cluster, Grand Moff Selrik Lorcas and COMECI Supervisor Dayna Rhyss had attended the talks and thus they had the insight on the Galactic Empire that the Supreme Commander sought to gain. However with Grand Moff Lorcas's recent retirement, the Supreme Commander would have to rely on Supervisor Rhyss's testimony alone in order to gain the insight he so much desired.

Thus the Supreme Commander would summon Supervisor Rhyss to his office within the Imperial Center for Military Operations on Cholganna, ready to gain the insight he desired so much. If the diplomatic talks that were held on Fondor could give the Confederation even the smallest information on what to expect from the Galactic Empire, then it would increase the effectiveness of any sort of intervention they might launch against Solipsis's Regime. As such, the Supreme Commander would remain seated in his office patiently waiting for the arrival of his guest and eager to hear what she had to relay to him.

Dayna wished very much that her first time being summoned to a meeting with the Supreme Commander of the Imperial military would have been something that she could be more optimistic in her reporting. The trip to the Galactic Alliance had not been the worst experience of her life. And it was not without success. But the fact of the matter was that the Galactic Empire was going to make any commerce with the Alliance quite difficult. On the other hand, commerce was probably not what the Supreme Commander had brought her to speak to.

As she was escorted through the military complex, Dayna was thinking to herself that it wouldn't be the worst thing in the galaxy to have more training. To be able to hold her own and join the cause should the Sith come within the Confederation's borders. Learn some ship functions to join the navy? Improve her marksmanship so that she could fix more than just fledgling economic situations. It was a thought she figured could be done easily in a place like this.

At last she was ushered into Sularen's office. Dayna may not have been military, but she was Imperial. She knew the need to show respect for the highest-ranking officer in the military that would dictate how far the Confederation's influence would spread. As her escort retreated from the room, Dayna stood straight, chest slightly out and she gave a salute to the Supreme Commander as crisp as a cadet fresh out of the academy. "The operations center is shaping up nicely Supreme Commander," Dayna said in a monotone controlled voice. "I was just thinking to myself that it would be nice to expand my martial prowess here. I shall inquire about a tour once my report is complete. You wish to hear about the Empire crashing the Alliance Senate's recent meeting. I will have to say that my report will not be overly promising. That is if you hope for any ceasefire in their battle. I believe we have made some friends there however. If we can manage to figure out logistic we could probably increase trade with them. Is there anything specific you would like to know, sir?"

It wasn't long before Supervisor Rhyss entered Sularen's office greeting the Imperial Supreme Commander, exchanging a few pleasantries and then finally inquiring what he sought to know from the failed negotiations between the Galactic Alliance and the Galactic Empire. "Those talks were doomed to fail from the start." Sularen responded. "I doubt the Galactic Alliance would have accepted any ceasefire deal given to them by the Galactic Empire, given that it would come with certain concessions that they would most certainly never accept." the Supreme Commander added.

"What I'm interested in however, is in learning what type of deal the Galactic Empire tried to negotiate with the Alliance. I do believe that whatever concessions the Galactic Empire sought to gain from the Alliance might actually give us some insight on what their next move will be along with their attitude in general." the Supreme Commander stated. "When we inevitable confront the Galactic Empire, which will happen once we deal with the Sith Order in the Thandon Star Cluster, it is imperative that we remain one step ahead of them in order to secure our ultimate victory and put an end to Solipsis's twisted version of Imperialism."

Categorizing the Senate meeting in which the Galactic Alliance and Galactic Empire exchanged demands as negotiations brought a smile to Dayna's lips. "Both factions drew pretty hard lines in the sand. The Alliance has demanded that the Empire return all the one territory from the war and had demands about the freedom of the leadership of the Empire. I believe imprisonment for the Vizier and banishment for their Emperor…I didn't put much faith in that being agreed to so I might be off a little in the details. Gotta admire the machismo of the Alliance. Obviously losing, yet still come in with radical demands…"

Dayna took a breath and paused for a moment. "But you wished to know what the Empire required for a ceasefire. Their demands were simple and within reason as it does not seem far-fetched that they can take what they want at the moment. As you say though, it does shed some light onto what the longer-term intentions of the Empire might be. The Empire demanded that the Alliance cede all territory between Coruscant and the borders of the Mandalorian territory and Black Sun controlled space. That seems to suggest that the Empire is indeed coming our way."

Dayna gave a bit of a sigh, "That should be of little surprise. The Grand Moff poked at their Empire just a bit. That was not taken lying down. Going so far as to call our Empress an imposter, basically. Without so much as a poke, however, we would have been a target. This group, who call themselves Imperials, are merely lawless thugs. They long to draw the galaxy into unrest. The fact that we stand staunchly for order makes our conflict with this rabble inevitable. As I said, we likely have friends within the Alliance. We might be able to use our assets to curtail the advancement of the Empire before it reaches us. That is the spot I would look to push at the moment. Fight the earth that is scorched is not our own."

Sularen listened carefully as Rhyss went over the failed negotiations between the Alliance and the Empire. The demands issued from the Alliance was expected given their past behaviour and Sularen found it amusing that they could think of issuing such demands despite being on the backfoot and having nearly zero leverage. Then came the demands of the Empire, who sought to force the Alliance to cede their holdings between the Deep Core and the borders of the Mandalorian Empire and the Black Sun. As Supervisor Rhyss put it, it appeared that after the Alliance, the Imperial Confederation might be next on the Galactic Empire's chopping block.

"I wouldn't be surprised if the Galactic Empire targeted us after the Alliance. We have been extremely vocal in our opposition to Solipsis and his cultists, and we exist as a rival Imperial Government." the Supreme Commander responded. "My concern however is whether the Confederation will be able to confront the Galactic Empire and sustain such a war." he added. "Our Western Territories remain largely unsecured and worlds such as Bimmisaari and Saleucami remain vulnerable to potential strikes from them. Considering our recent defeat at Brosi, any loss of territory will only further harm our prestige in the galaxy."

The Supreme Commander's concerns about being the next target of the Galactic Empire were valid. Dayna wasn't as confident that it would be because of the pot shots that the Confederation had taken at "Solipsis' cult" not being true Imperials. That insult might not have been as heavy as thought. The Galactic Empire was filled with miscreants who didn't care that they were not thought to measure up to what amounted to soldiers with sticks up their asses.

Dayna's lips formed into a grin when the Supreme Commander expressed that he was not so much concerned about if the Galactic Empire would come for them, but how long the battle could be held on the rimward borders of the Confederation. "I share your concerns Supreme Commander. Before these so-called Imperials dropped into the Core, systems like Bimmisaari, Ingo, Saleucami and Mina-Rau joined the Confederation for security. We need to show them that we are capable of providing just that."

Supervisor Rhyss along with Prefect Nolle Tron Nolle Tron had a plan ready to go for these territories when the new threat to galactic order arrived. Perhaps it was time to put those plans back in motion. "If those systems are to be a target, we will need to create a network. That being the case I believe that even though I have made connections in the Alliance, that should be handed off to Prefect Tron, or her assistant Prystill Oasay. My focus should be on securing our borders. Boz Pity I believe the Prefect had suggested as a military foothold in the area. Providing strength and security to Boz Pity and the other existing Confederation systems are bound to bring further converts. I would like to spearhead this movement. Perhaps a quick training course here in this magnificent facility before I take on this task though. Learn what a proper Imperial military stronghold requires. Besides, my background may be in logistics, but I do like to pull my own weight in the struggles against threats to Imperial life. It would be an honor to receive training here."

There was a great degree of merit in Supervisor Rhyss's word and alot of truth in them too. Prior to Solipsis's return and the resurgence of his faction of Imperial loyalists in the form of the Galactic Empire, the Imperial Confederation was viewed as the galaxy's foremost Imperial power with the potential to spearhead a true resurgence of Imperialism free of Sith tampering and influence. Many worlds had joined the Confederation and it experienced rapid growth even though that growth was short-lived due to the sudden emergence of the Galactic Empire.

If the Galactic Empire was going to come after the Confederation in order to seize the Mandate of Imperialism for themselves, then it was imperative that the Confederation took every action to prepare itself for it's inevitable confrontation with Solipsis and his Imperial supporters. A final confrontation to determine the fate of Imperialism in the galaxy and it's direction in the near-future. "I totally agree with your assessment Supervisor Rhyss. That being said when it comes to giving you proper military training here, I'm sure i can make the necessary arrangements to ensure you receive it here. While i won't be able to personally provide it due to the extensive nature of my duties as Supreme Commander, i know someone who might be willing to teach you whatever is necessary to accomplish your task." Sularen responded.

His mind immediately drifted to Admiral Squesha Squesha , who during the prior Naval Conference at Cholganna had suggested the creation of a specialized military training program. Perhaps by bringing Supervisor Rhyss under Squesha's tutelage, she could gain the necessary skills needed to accomplish her goal of securing the Confederation's borders.

The fact that the Supreme Commander seemed to be seeing the same things that Dayna was seeing was a good sign to the young Supervisor. Though she never really desired to be on the frontlines of a war, the writing was on the wall that to be able to most effectively serve the Confederation Dayna would need to be thinking militarily as well as logistically. The fact that she already seemed to have a bit of the pulse of the thinking of the military was a good place to start.

The agreement of Commander Sularen was a hopeful position for Supervisor Rhyss to cease her interactions with the Galactic Alliance temporarily and return to what she had started closer to home. Boz Pity, Crispor and Alee missions could be restarted as Dayna completed what training the Supreme Commander deemed useful to her position. "I would not expect that you would take my training on personally. Whoever you feel would be a good instructor would be quite appreciated."

Dayna's mind struggled to stay with the Supreme Commander. He may have more questions or instructions as to what he needed her to accomplish next. Daya was thinking of what she might be taught in the coming days or weeks though. She knew the basics: How to fire a blaster (which she was pretty good at), some hand-to-hand combat, what various equipment was there to do. She had survival training. But Dayna was a fixer. She was there to make bad situations better. In order to do that she needed to learn strategies as well and maybe some special forces training. It would be a new challenge for Dayna. One she was confident she would answer. "Is there any further information I can provide for you Commander?"

"I would not expect that you would take my training on personally. Whoever you feel would be a good instructor would be quite appreciated."
"I'll make sure to arrange a meeting between you and your new instructor as soon as possible" Sularen simply responded. For Sularen this was a win-win scenario for both Supervisor Rhyss and Admiral Squesha. The Supervisor would have her program to secure the Confederation's borders in the Mid Rim, and Admiral Squesha would have the perfect opportunity to test her envisioned naval training program. It was nice to see the rank-and-file of the Confederation take initative and work towards improving and strengthening the Confederation. Even if progress was slow, it was still far greater then what had been accomplished during the later stages of the Dark Empire

"Is there any further information I can provide for you Commander?"
There was one more matter Sularen had sought to discuss, mostly a small informal one of little importance but he was still curious to know more about that particular issue that being the Supervisor's latest trip to the Mid Rim world of Uyter. From what he had gathered the Supervisor had met with some of the local authorities on the planet to negotiate some sort of deal although the specifics and the outcome remained unknown to him. "Your trip to Uyter. I am quite curious to know what specifically you were doing there and what you were trying to accomplish."
