  • Intent and Reasoning: This planet is part of Chaos’ canon. It disappeared long before the Galactic Empire rose to power, and little is known of what became of it. My reason for submitting Ash is twofold: one, to serve as the world on which my contest submission exists, and two, for the sake of Chaos’ community to enjoy stories linked to the unique canon that the site enjoys. Ash will allow for people to explore a previously undeveloped side of the site’s canon depicted here.
Affiliation: The Kwa Holdings, formerly.

Major Locations:

Culture: Visible among the ruins are echoes of the Kwa way of life, there are monolithic structures that stretch skyward but have lost their luster to time. Dust and the husks of legendary robotics litter the desolate planet. Magma spews from the world forges that allowed them to terraform and construct new planets, but what is born in their hearts is a profanity of life. The Kwa initially intended to bring light across the boundary between our world and the other, but they quickly learned the impossibility of that task.

Their obsession became constructing the perfect world. The horrors that were forever etched into their minds came to life in their work, and the Corrupted Kwa did the unthinkable. They used their vast knowledge of the Force to simulate life, and in so doing recreated humanity, albeit in their degenerate image. The Ash’ai are born with either no sensitivity to the Force, or an affinity for the dark side due to the corruption of the Netherworld. (They are normal humans with this imposed restriction.)

Although they were once the bastions of technological sovereignty, the Kwa have been reduced to a primitive tribal lifestyle. They revere Akala, the enigmatic princess of their Holdings as a goddess due to her strange ability to command their bold new world. Though they have neither seen nor heard from the powerful entity in tens of thousands of years, they strongly believe that she will return for them and guide them into a new age of greatness.

They believe that one day, the Kwa Holdings will return to power and they will once more be able to spread their ways throughout the galaxy.

Technology: Sundered Kwa technology. Nothing that exists can be removed or utilized for any reason. The taint of the Netherworld has all but destroyed what was formerly the most advanced and powerful machinery in the known galaxy. Their behemoth spires and trans-dimensional gateways were twisted by the dark energies and forever made useless. The Corrupted Kwa became crazed as their way of life was forever changed, and those with power fell to the same madness that they saw in the Rakata. Unable to find balance in the Force, they descended into infighting and only a handful of the now-degenerate creatures managed to survive the civil war that followed.

History: Once upon a time, the Kwa were the most advanced civilization in the galaxy. In a chance encounter with the Rakata on Lehon, they imparted their knowledge and technology to the lesser race in a benevolent attempt to create a better galaxy. Unbeknownst to the Kwa, the Rakata were a species that craved power and sought to subjugate others to their will. They used their newfound strength to create an Empire that spanned the known galaxy and reached outward even from there.

The Kwa came to understand their folly and brought war to the Infinite Empire in order to right their wrong, but the Rakata proved a more than worthy foe. As the Infinite Empire began to turn the tide of battle in their favor, the technologically superior Kwa began to worry over the fate of the galaxy. After a gutting victory, something strange happened.

Ash, a Kwa planet, vanished.

As time went on, mention of Ash faded into obscurity and finally it became little more than a myth. The gravity shadow in the core where the planet once existed vanished, and it became little more than empty space.

Until one day, the shadow reappeared. Not far from the original seat of Kwa power at Dathomir, a strange distortion appeared and echoed through the Force to those acutely sensitive enough to feel it. Alkor Centaris, Kurayami Bloodborn, and Anya Loma went to investigate the anomaly and discovered a planet long thought the stuff of legends.

What they found there was far more than they bargained for…

Notable PCs: N/A

Intent: For use in the Codex contest, to commemorate four years of CHAOS. This planet will house the location that I intend to submit. Also, the planet will be open for new types of roleplay as a result, and should allow for new and exciting storylines.

Dev thread found here: link

As a note: No Kwa technology still functions. The Netherworld has taken its toll, and even the Kwa themselves could not undo the damage that time has done to their creations. The Corrupted Kwa have become degenerate and their ancients secrets have been lost to the ravages of insanity. The single gate they created that remains intact is a relic from times long past, and has long since ceased to function. With some prompting it might be utilized as a link between this world and the Netherworld, but no one has taken the time or had the audacity to make such an attempt.

As Rakatan and equivalent technology is banned on Chaos, this submission is intended to be compliant with those rules.

So, there's a lot of issues with this sub. I'm going to start with the biggest issues first.

1) Is this a species sub or planet sub? Its reading as both to me.
2) No sun means no heat. This means an ice planet with no life. Also zero atmosphere.
3) Everything has a language
4) Unknown for population isn't going to work
5) Was this a Netherworld planet sub? If so provide the link.
