Location: On a small, airless moon of Bheriz, which is fairly close to Formos and Lowick.
Affiliation: A small local Bherizian mining consortium. Bheriz currently lies in unclaimed territory, and has for years.
Description: Ascalon Mining Centre, like many mining operations in the Bheriz system, extracts and processes teniline granules for use in hyperdrives. Ascalon overlooks an open-pit mine worked by labor droids and space-suited personnel.
Ascalon comprises two buildings. The larger one includes maintenance bays, landing pads, residences, and refining operations. The smaller structure houses backup life support, emergency shelter, and the mining centre's long-range communications relay.
Ascalon is a respectable but unexceptional teniline operation. It is notable only for its lease of some landing pads, meeting rooms, and storage lockers to various outsystem business associates of the facility's owners. Their traffic blends in quite routinely with the comings and goings of ore freighters and maintenance ships.
History: There's not much to tell. Ascalon has been in operation for several decades, long enough to enlarge the pit mine to respectable proportion and depth. A couple of years ago, a friend of a friend of an administrator made an introduction. Some outsystem businesspeople began holding occasional meetings at Ascalon rather than make the inconvenient trek down the planet's gravity well. All open and aboveboard, just boring. Very boring.
Intent: A nice out-of-the-way place for a bunch of ambitious Sith to meet and gather resources.
