OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a native species of Ahk-Ourobha
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Arkthab
  • Designation: Non-sentient
  • Origins: Ahk-Ourobha
  • Average Lifespan: Just over a dozen years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: The Arkthab is a species of reptomammal renown for its speed and durability. The small creatures are nimble, hopping on their back legs are incredible speeds to get away from predators or angry farmers looking for revenge.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type-1
  • Average Height of Adults: 74cm
  • Average Length of Adults: 53cm
  • Skin color: Gray, Black, Brown
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: The Arkthab is set apart from similar pest creatures by its massive shell, a staple of the reptomammals of Ahk-Ourobha. This shell has a spongey layer of fatty tissue underneath that acts as a cussion, allowing the Arkthab to use the shell as a cushion from great heights and even roll down inclines by curling into a ball.
  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
Strengths:
  • Rabbit Reproduction: Arkthab typically lay around a dozen eggs every four or five months and assist their young in growing to maturity. This has helped them continuously keep their numbers up even if they are the prime target for the predators and settlers of Ahk-Ourobha's northern continent. Once a small population of Arkthab move into a region and begins reproducing it is very difficult to remove that population.
  • Run and Bounce: While not the fastest creatures on Ahk-Ourobha the Arkthab can run much faster than the average humanoid or large predator on the planet. This combined with their unique ability to survive long falls or rolling down hills makes them difficult to catch in a chase.
  • Heightened Hearing: The two massive ears of the Arkthab aren't just for show, but rather given them hyper-attuned hearing that can help them pick out nearby danger.
Weaknesses:
  • Weak: Arkthab are not fighters, and should one be grabbed or cornered they typically curl into a ball to try to avoid their almost definite fate.
  • Noisy: The noises of the Arkthab are a defining attribute of northern Ahk-Ourobha. All through the day one can hear these creatures snuffling and chirping to one another while occasionally letting out beautiful song-like howls to attract a mate. While some would consider this cute or beautiful to many it is simply an easy way of finding the creatures.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Herbivore
  • Communication: Arkthab communicate with high pitched chirps, yelps, howls, and lower pitched purs. All of this is often accentuated with the stamping of feet or sneezing to alert others of nearby danger.
  • Technology level: N/A
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior: Arkthab typically spend their lives running about the northern continent of Ahk-Ourobha feeding on what plant life they can. They are rather unremarkable creatures except for the simple fact that they routinely burrow into farmsteds and consume crops, marking them as a pest and common source of meat for the Bedlariim. Should an Arkthab feel threatened they will typically try jumping off of cliffs or rolling down hills while using their shell, reinforced with a fatty-tissue like sponge, for cushioning.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Arkthab have been one of the defining parts of a Bedlariim's diet, as they are a readily available and rapidly reproducing source of meat. Their shells have traditionally been used as bowls or containers for liquids due to being water tight.

In recent years some Arkthab have been domesticated, being turned into skittish but friendly household pets whose leathery eggs are considered as a delicacy.
