OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

 • Intent: To create a medicinal plant for use and distribution by Clan Solus

 • Canon: N/A

 • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION

 • Name: Arevol

 • Origins: Vanquo Desert

 • Other Locations: Not in the wild, but house-plant sized ones can be purchased from Clan Solus

 • Classification: Succulent

 • Average Growth Cycle: At least a year from sprout to a mature plant. Flowering occurs after 5 years of growth. Arevol has an average life-span of 100 years, though older specimens can be found

 • Viability: Arevol is a very hard plant to kill if you aren't trying to. As a succulent, arevol plants store water in their leaves, which have a gel-like substance inside when cut open.

 • Description: Fully grown, Arevol plants are large, green succulents with thick, wide leaves. Most of their height stems from the tall stems upon which their poisonous flowers grow. The flowers themselves bloom red, and as the flowers die and dry up, turn yellow before falling off slowly beginning from the bottom of the bloom.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION

 • Average Height: 2m at full maturity, up to 3m after 100 galactic standard years

 • Average Length: 1.3m

 • Color: Green leaves, that turn yellow the less water it has stored, and once able to bloom, red and yellow flowers

 • Nutritional Value: The gel in the leaves can be ingested in small amounts to help with digestion and hydration. It can also be blended into a tasty, refreshing drink

 • Toxicity: Arevol flowers are poisonous, and affect species in varying degrees when ingested. Human species get mild to severe food poisoning, depending on the over-all health of the individual. Near-humans get severe food poisoning and mild hallucinations. Non-humans get the worst symptoms: severe food poisoning, dizziness, severe hallucinations, high fever, and if left untreated can eventually die anywhere between 6-48 hours depending on the overall health of the individual poisoned. A single petal won't do much, however, and the flower must be either 50% consumed, or used to make a potent poison to have the full effect. Anything less has diminished effects depending on how much is consumed.

 • Other Effects: The leaves of the Arevol plant have multiple medicinal uses. The gel inside the leaves can be applied topically to rashes and mild burns to ease discomfort and promote healing. In the case of burns, the gel also supplies moisture to the skin. When ingested, the gel helps with mild nausea, and relieves a burning stomach whether in pure gel form or blended into a drink. The skin of the leaves can be used as a natural bandage in a pinch, if the leaf is big enough of course.

 • Distinctions: The red flowers of this succulent give away it's species at a glance, as it looks similar to other, non-blooming succulents the grow in the desert. It's poisonous blooms ward off many species that would attempt to eat the leaves, save for a few smart enough to know the flowers are the only poisonous part of the plant.
Strengths:

 • Can be used as a medicinal plant to treat topical burns and rashes

 • Has poisonous flowers when grown in it's native soil

 • Sharp spikes grow in intervals along the edges of the leaves, keeping it's leaves from being bitten by the local fauna unless the leaf is ripped off first.

 • No matter where it's grown, the leaves always keep their medicinal properties.
Weaknesses:

 • As a plant, it has very few defenses against the elements, and the various fauna native to the Vanquo desert

 • When not grown in the dry, acidic, rocky soils of its native habitat, it won't grow much bigger than 1m when flowers grow, and said flowers will not have their poisonous trait

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Arevol is one of many species that adapted and evolved during the desertification of the area now known as the Vanquo desert. It's ability to store water in its leaves allows it to survive the harsh climate for long periods of time, compared to the desert flowers often found nearby when it grows in the mountain ranges. It's one of the most prosperous plant species in the desert, with multiple plants dotting the landscape. Soon to be discovered by Clan Solus, it's effects are currently unknown to the galaxy.
