Name: Archangels
Intent: The Archangels Special Operation Unit will be used to aid the Galactic Republic in combative situations. This will primarily be done through the use of drop pods as a rapid insertion technique.
Affiliation: Galactic Republic
Availability: This unit is entirely Unique. Many other military units employ similar tactics, but the Archangels are the only ones acting within the Galactic Republic.
Type: Rapid Insertion Infantry Unit (AKA Drop Troopers)
Strength: There is only 1 Archangel unit in existence, and this unit that has a total of 30 soldiers within it. However, the unit is predicted to grow substantially in the future.
Description:
The Archangels Special Operations unit are an elite force consisting of some of the best soldiers within the Galaxy and the Galactic Republic. The primary purpose of the unit is to complete missions for the Galactic Republic. These mission can be anything from assassinations to search and rescues. The missions that the unit will undergo will remain with the upmost secrecy to ensure the safety of the unit members and to avoid a compromise. As of the currently, only some of the most powerful ranking officers within the Galactic Republic know of the unit’s existence and they answer to no one but the Military and Navy Chief of Staff.
As the unit will be required to endure some of the toughest missions, it is a necessity that all members have up to 5 years previous military experience to assure they are combat effective and efficient during battle. Additional skills are also welcomed amongst the soldiers of the unit as they can prove to be immensely helpful in combat. However, each squad member will also be supplied with the latest innovations in military hardware and weaponry, allowing them to maintain their combat efficiency while also giving them an advantage over their enemies.
One of the main concepts of this unit is rapid insertion into the battlefield. To do this, the unit will employ the use of specialised drops pods. These drop pods will allow the unit to penetrate the enemies lines and to provide support where ground forces and larger drop ships may not be able to reach. Another advantage is the ability to launch surprise attacks, as the shuttle used to launch the pods isn't required to be large, it can be disguised as a cargo vessel or not seen at all, allowing for the unit to infiltrate enemy planets and locations without detection. Despite the many advantages this is not the ideal method of transportation, as the chances of missing the target or failure, that may result in death, are very high. However, the soldiers of this unit believe that the benefits far outweigh the risks and therefore have chosen this as their method of transit.
