OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Arachnocampa luminosa onderonia (Onderonian Glowworm)
  • Designation: Non-sentient
  • Origins: Onderon
  • Average Lifespan: 5 months
  • Estimated Population: Rare (A few groups, often limited to a single world. Evidence of them being much more common around the galaxy in ancient history)
  • Description: Only found in the dark depths of Onderon's cave systems, they appear to the naked eye as stars covering a caverns ceiling. To examine more closely they are the caterpillar like pre-metamorphosis form of their winged form.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type 1 Atmosphere
  • Average Height of Adults: 2 centimetres
  • Average Length of Adults: 3.5 centimetres
  • Skin color: Brown
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: It is a non-sentient bug. It has six-legs, thin antennae and it glows in the dark.
  • Force Sensitivity: [ All ] As they are non-sentient they cannot be trained as such in the Force, but due to their biological make up they act more as a link to the Force than actually exhibiting a connection themselves.

Strengths:

    • Secretes mucus from a gland on its thorax that coats it in a luminescent glow, and which acts as a Force conductive conduit connecting the worms into a network or 'gateway' to deep Serenity trances.
Weaknesses:

    • Loud, sudden noises will rupture their exoskeleton causing instant death.
    • Bright light shone directly on them will overload their nervous systems causing instant death.
    • Slow rate of reproduction.
    • Requires dark, damp, cool and quiet environments to survive.
CULTURE

    • Diet: Carnivore, slugs and snails that venture into the caves. (The circle of life.)
    • Communication: Non-verbal instinctual communication only, no Force communication occurring.
    • Technology level: N/A
    • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Arachnocampa luminosa onderonia are currently only found on Onderon. Several unsuccessful attempts have been over the years to relocate them, but all have met with failure. The primary reason for the failures has been the inability to transport them out of the caves successfully. On Onderon they are a protected species with permission from local government required to enter that regions cave system.

The bugs themselves are simple creatures, but the secretion from their thorax gland is highly prized, but so far impossible to replicate in a lab. The mucus coats the worms in bioluminescence, and the think liquid slowly falls down from the cave walls to even cover the ground, and enter the aquifer system running through the caves. Anything that the secretion falls on, or the water that it mixed with, becomes luminescent in its own right with hues of sky blue, turquoise and trimmed in deeper greens. When subjected to nominal natural light the luminescent substance degrades, and ultimately is destroyed.

The secretion opens all that it touches with the Light Side of the Force, those trained in Jedi arts of Serenity Trances are enabled to more easily and more deeply enter their meditative state. Visions are often seen of memories past, memories yet to be and paths that are or were possible given certain decisions.

Commonly called, Glowworms or Glowies for short, these worms lead a fragile existence and are today considered endangered species.

Hello! I will be judging your submission.

This is really nice and I like the creativity behind it, I only have one request to make:

  • Breathes: Please select a type of atmosphere, the one that more accurately represents what kind of environment these creatures could potentially survive in.
