STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
(+) High Constitution: Heavy mental conditioning and training in Teräs Käsi have made her highly resistant to mental influence and advanced interrogation techniques.
(+) Neural Implants: In addition to the standard control biochip used on all Marines, she has additional neural implants to decrease reaction time and allow her to directly interface with machines wirelessly, including accessing the First Order's Huginn biocomm network.
(-) Fractured Personality: Remnants of her old personality as Zelda persist, and can sometimes cause issues, including fragmented flashbacks. This issue becomes more pronounced when her biochip is disabled, which is what handles reinforcement of her original programming.
(-) Biochip: She is utterly powerless to resist commands issued directly through the implant.
APPEARANCE:
She has a light athletic build as is standard for a well trained and fit soldier. She has no tatoos or other markings, but her ears remained pierced. Dress wise, she is rarely seen out of uniform, but even then her style is conservative and informal.
BIOGRAPHY:
Early Life
Born Zelda Lewis, the native of the Isis system grew up as the youngest child in an upper-middle-class household of a manager and engineer working for a local mining consortium. Life was peaceful but uneventful (outside the usual sibling rivalry). Growing up, she dreamed of leaving the Outer Rim for the Core. She studied hard, hoping to earn a slot at the University of Aldera or another prestigious Core school for engineering.
However, when she came of age to apply to said schools, war had broken out between the Galactic Republic and then fledgling One Sith Empire. With that new reality in place, she settled for studying on relatively safe Bespin. She obtained her degree with honors, which in another time would have opened up a lot of doors, but as the war continued to rage in the Core, she gave up on her dream to return to Isis, picking up a job with a local starship manufacturer.
Life became quiet once more for Zelda personally, though there was a spot of drama as her old brother Ommar decided to leave for the Core to fight for Alderaan and the rest of the Republic. He would later go on to die on his first tour during the Republic’s ill-fated campaign to retake Alderaan. News of his death hit her hard, and she would become even more tepid at the thought of leaving her home, which had done well to escape the worst of several wars being fought across the galaxy at the time. Bad Romance
The quiet life she had previously taken for granted in her youth would not go on to last, as the First Order arrived to annex Isis for its rich mineral resources and advanced manufacturing centers. From day one, divisions would spring up in the system. Isis had a history as an independent Rebel bastion against the original Galactic Empire, and many natives weren’t keen on becoming involved with the greater galaxy in hostile conflict, which seemed inevitable as the rival Galactic Alliance grew in the area. From their view, the annexation only seemed to benefit the ruling Figg Conglomerate itself. Feeling betrayed, many locals protested in large on a near daily basis, riots not being uncommon.
Zelda found herself in the later camp, but she was careful not to be vocal with her opposition, as the First Order were widely known to be ruthless totalitarians. In little time, many of the most prominent and/or violent of the opposition would begin to disappear as the FOSB established itself. However, rather than killing the protest movement, the actions only prompted escalation. She kept her head down for the sake of her family and continued to work dutifully at her plant, which had transitioned completely from building civilian craft to producing starfighters and warships for the First Order under a new contract.
For a long time, she endured her indignation in silence as the First Order worked its claws deeper into the system through the aid of the Figgs as their lapdogs. Things changed as she began to engage in a romantic relationship with a man named Adan, a new hire to her plant from a neighboring mining world looking for opportunities on Isis. A charming individual, he quickly won her heart as she was looking for some form of respite from her troubles.
As she became more comfortable with him, she began to confide her secrets, revealing her true feelings about the situation on Isis. It was at that point, Adan would reveal himself to be an operative with quadrant spanning resistance movement opposed to the rise of the First Order. He would show her how their work at the plant was helping the First Order spread, resulting in the death and misery of many in the process. He then told her how he wanted to stop it, by sabotaging the plant. However, as he was still a new employee, he would need her senior credentials to access restricted areas She was initially hesitant to give him what he wanted, but he was able to manipulate her into sharing her credential by exploiting her emotional connection to him, all the while promising that no one would be hurt in the process of sabotage.
That turned out to be a lie, as the benign sabotage mission he told her about turned into a full blown raid, where millions worth in starships and components were stolen while much of the plant was destroyed in the process. Dozens of FO personnel would be killed during the raid, as well as several plant workers, many of whom had been her friends. Much too late, she had realized she had been played by the man she loved.
In a panic, she tried fleeing Isis, but was quickly apprehended by FOSB agents. While having no direct involvement in the raid, she was used as an example to discourage other seditious activity by locals in a high-profile trial. She was given the harsh sentence of life imprisonment, ordered to live out her remaining days performing hard labor on some far flung penal colony in the Unknown Regions.
Welcome to Hell
As far as the public knew, that was the end of Zelda, but during processing into the penal system, she was diverted to a joint rehabilitation and public works project between the First Order and Galactic Republic, the Marine Strafbattalions. Aptitude tests she had taken during her processing had identified her as an ideal candidate for a command position within the experimental penal military unit. As one of the earliest candidates, she was used to fine tune the conditioning techniques used by the program. She was also part of a special test on enhancing aggressive traits in normally passive individuals.
The first phase of her conditioning began subtly, as she was subjected to electromagnetic transcranial stimulation while undergoing a series of interviews designed to make her develop vengeful tendencies towards Adan, who was presented as a con-man and terrorist who manipulated her for his nefarious ends, destroying her life. Gradually, they tied Adan into Resistance and other affiliated organizations to get her to despise them as well. From there, the First Order, and the Stafbattalions, in particular, was presented as a means to get back at him and those groups.
The techniques proved a success, priming her for additional programming, all the while thinking that she had just volunteered to participate in the military organization under her own volition. The process would continue, the original personality of Zelda being dismantled for a new one to take its place: AR-3752. For all intents and purposes, Zelda was dead.
As AR-3752, she would go on to receive military training, including additional advanced officer courses as a designated commander. As one of the first wave of Marine officers, she was one of a few also implanted with neural implants (x,x) in addition to her biochip in order to test out various command schemes and improve the survivability of the officer corps within the Strafbattalions.
While the Marine Stafbatallions are a relatively new military organization, AR-3752 would go on to participate in several battles across frontiers of First Order space as part of an ongoing campaign against the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium. However, as the cold war between the Galactic Alliance and First Order has turned hot, she and her unit have now been reassigned as a much larger front opens northward, to Sullust.
