Description:
The Aniri-Class was largely a private government project, subsidized and developed as a reconnaissance and surgical strike craft. It was designed analogous to standard infantry gunships with the exceptions of being independent and having no dedicated passenger capacity. The Aniri is also very large for its kind, indicating that it served supplementary roles besides orbital mining and data collection.
The Aniri-Class utilizes Matrix armor rather than traditional alusteel to withstand orbital debris, though it is more likely because of its more covert role as an experimental attack craft. It is balanced by the use of lighter shielding which were presumably designed more for non-combat protection than defense, but also produces a lower (sometimes unassuming) energy signature. Its primary drive system are two twin EXY fusial engines which run on Tibanna and TibbanaX fuel. Two medium RBCC engines allow it to regulate outer-atmospheric flight. A single, central Galaxy-15 ion engine is used to achieve top sublight speed or escape the atmosphere, though it is far from subtle and thus rarely used. A reproduced 9954/I sensor array is used for its multiple scanning systems, while an EXAR-L/N fire-control system regulates the composite turret with surgical precision.
Armament is gunship sub-standard. Three of six warhead launchers were exchanged for greater gun capacity, and proton bomb dispensers were replaced with swarm drone launchers. The shuttle still retains enough energy output and processing power to hypothetically yield four more standard laser cannons or heavy blasters. Speed and maneuverability are consistent with the ship's size.
