Animal Magnetism (Beast Trick)

A jungle always pulsed with life. Myriad sounds and smells as life continued within. Dune sat at the edge and he waited for students. His long fingers rested on knees cross under him.

Communing with nature was communing with the Living Force. It was a fine day to be here. Warm sunshine and a gentle breeze made it ideal. The Bith wore an easy smile even in his meditation.

He had no idea who would come to him. Even if no one did, it didn't matter. It was simply nice to be here on a day like today.

Jungles were not exactly places familiar to Beorni.

For starters, there were a lot of trees. Now, there were trees on Midvinter, but they tended to be thin pines. These were fuller, with a lush undergrowth that promoted an ecosystem all its own. Combined with the humidity, it was a very different kind of climate from what the cub was used to.

A little too much sunshine and not enough wind. It should definitely be cooler. Preferably with snow.

In any event, the small, sweltering Beorni approached where a rather strange looking alien seemed to be meditating on the forest's edge. Rather than interrupting, the cub just slid down onto his rump, and seemed to meditate on his own quietly.

It would be rude to interrupt someone's meditation. So the cub would simply wait for the funny looking alien to notice him.

"Welcome Padawan [member="Kiriko"]," the strange looking alien said. He grinned as he rose to his feet as walked over while dusting himself off. "It's a lovely day out, though probably warmer than Midvinter."

He made a wide gesture to take in the trees behind him. "We couldn't have picked a better place for the beast trick ability. Ossus is teeming with the Living Force and all kinds of creatures."

"But tell me, Padawan, have you ever had any experience with this particular skill?"

"But tell me, Padawan, have you ever had any experience with this particular skill?"

"Padabear," the cub corrected, his soft, round ears perking up slightly as the young Beorni delivered the joke.

Behind the cub's jovial smile and carefree demeanor though, he couldn't help but think that there were LOTS of places better than this where they could have done this training. There was Rhen Var. There was Midvinter. There was Ziost...

...and those were just the other planets that the cub had been to. He was sure there was more in the cosmic world tree that the tall, fur-less ones referred to as space.

"And no, Master," the cub responded, scooting forward on his butt as he did. This was already interesting! "But I heard it has something to do with animals. And I like animals."

Particularly fish, seals, and animals made of bacon. But that was a completely different kind of like.

"Can you really use the Force to influence them?"

Oh my god there was a small bear.. this was going to be the best class ever of all time in the workshop as Orihime was arriving to come and partake. She wanted to get in good and learn from the masters of their different skills and beast trick was not a skill many used. Wearing the silver robes as they radiated the lightside of the force. She was prepared to work with it seeing the small Kiriko and he was looking warm and fuzy until she was moving to seeing master Dune. "Master Dune, thank you for doing this."

"Padabear, then!"

The Bith motioned for the youth to follow him into the shade. Cooler in the shade, most definitely, especially for one so furry. He resumed his seated position. It was noticeably less warm here.

"I assume you do like animals," he quipped "Especially next to the mashed potatoes."

"Yes, you can communicate with non-sentient creatures. Virtually every creature interacts with the Force. You're reaching out to touch their minds."

Dune looked up as he heard his name.

"Welcome [member="Orihime Ike"], please join us in the shade."

"Oooooh..."

Reaching out to touch their minds? That sounded AMAZING!

Imagine, at last being able to discern what that goldfish in the aquarium tank is actually thinking... you know, instead of having to make it up in your imagination. Like a certain Beorni cub was known to do.

At the sound of a new voice joining us, the bear turned his furry head to look up at the newcomer. "Hi!" the boy offered warmly.

The strange one named Dune had no fur. This was one of those humans, who just had fur on the crown of their heads, but then grew it out so it was super long. Which, still seemed really, really strange to the cub.

Hearing that her old Master was offering lessons on Beast Trick, Joza made it a point to join in. It had been a while since she’d seen Dune, not since their adventure with a certain red skinned Twi’lek who seemed to be perpetually sugar high.

She first caught sight of the Bith, being able to pick his presence out easily among the few others in the area. She smiled, approaching the little group that had gathered. “Master Dune. Orihime.” She offered them both a bright smile, pleased to see two people that she knew well to the point where no titles were needed. Dune never cared to be called Master, but she included it regardless seeing as how this was an official lesson and he knew her to be cheeky.

Sliding down smoothly next to the bear cub, she took a long look at the ball of white fur before turning back towards the Bith. “It seems that your skill in taming creatures is more advanced that I imagined!” Taking a spare nuna meat bun out of her robe pocket—yes, she needed extras to compensate for her growing appetite—the Zeltron held it out to the Beorni, palm flat. “Would you like a treat, little guy?”

The small bear turned his head.

Wow! That was a LOT of pink.

Her skin was even pink! Under his fur, Kiriko's actual flesh was black. And his fur was actually translucent. It was the way that the hair fibers scattered the light that made him appear to be white. But this? This was pink on top of even more pink!

At the question, the boy's ears flattened slightly in confusion. Would he like a... what?

Then he saw the meat but, resting on the palm of her hand.

The black nose was wiggling. That was definitely food!

The ears perked up on either side of his head. Black eyes sparkling, and a puffball tail twitching furiously as he answered, "Yes, please!"
