SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Extreme protection against energy weapons, kinetic damage, and EMP/Ion weapons ensures solid combat performance against most known types of heavy weapons. Absorbing energy from weapons such as lasers, ion cannons, and EMP charges to allow it to be redirected to temporarily bolster shields.
  • May be able to disrupt or break from tractor beams by modulating the ship’s electromagnetic frequencies.

WEAKNESSES:

  • Despite incredible protections, cumulative damage created by energy weapons, EMP/Ion, or projectile weaponry will likely take a toll and begin to degrade ship function and defensive levels eventually.
  • Once sufficient damage has occurred to this armor, degrading its protection via damage sustained in continuous action or by significant attacks made against it, a full refit is needed to restore combat performance to full operational levels. This cannot be done in a ‘field-expedient’ way, and demands that the ship return to a fully-complimented repair facility to affect this level of repair.
DESCRIPTION:
The hexagonal-shaped paneling was made in several layers:

First, a non-magnetic shell was created using an ultra-durable weave of Verpine fiber, Carbon Nanotube-reinforced Durafiber, Absorbital-infused reinforced Duraplast, and Kashyyyk Treeworm Silk. These hard plates held considerable resilience levels, able to take a tremendous amount of punishment. The non-magnetic nature of them ensured against magnetized mines, cluster bombs, and the like as well. These plates could withstand serious punishment in battle, increasing a ship’s defensive levels exponentially for prolonged periods before being weakened. Barring any massively overwhelming damage caused by incredibly powerful weapons of course.

An under-layer of alusteel, dallorian alloy, agrinium, and desh-terenthium was forged, increasing the strength of the plating and elevating protection against ion weapons, EMP, and energy weapons even further.

Next, a backing layer of thermal gel, durafill, polyresin, myoflex, agrinium, and absobital was created, capable of further reinforcing these plates and helping to guard against potential breaching, punctures, or gaps created by combat damage as well as to aid in energy absorbtion/dispersal. A mesh array of capacitors and power conduits, as well as damage sensors, was sandwiched in between layers of this material to create a protective layering capable of redirecting energy back through conversion systems, heat sinks, cap drains, etc. to be supplied to temporarily boost shield strength.

The resulting effect was a polarized hull, capable of transferring energy to temporarily bolster shield strength and resist considerable punishment, even at close range, from an enemy’s heavy weapons, confound tractor beams and magnetized weaponry, and provide greater sustained fighting ability to vessels using this plating. Not meant to be a ‘stand-alone’ hull, this product is a shell, meant to overlay atop existing hull structures and increase combat performance and protection. While it does this very well, it isn’t invulnerable to damage, and it won’t last forever, but its ability to reduce the likelihood of damage for an impressive amount of time as well as to transfer energy to bolster shields makes it quite capable of increasing the time ships using it can stay in the midst of heavy combat.
