Analyze This! (Brevitæ)

Location: The Planet of Belasco, City Skytower, Home Office of Doctor Robert Zendu

Doctor Robert Zendu, M.D., a reputable licensed galactic Psychiatrist, sat at his obsessively neat desk in an professorial Tweed suit, carefully perusing the patient file of his next appointment.

Name: Brevitæ. Age: Unknown, but looks to be somewhere in the range of 18-24. Occupation: Medic. Species: Twi'lek. From the preliminary notes he had taken during their brief Holo screening interview, it seemed that the young Twi'lek was having issues telling fantasy from reality. He frowned as he noticed that in his scribbles, underlined in red ink, it said that the young woman worked for a criminal syndicate called The Red Ravens. Doctor Zendu would have to make sure he had extra security on hand. Perhaps even a concealed syringe containing a moderate sedative. One could never be too careful with certain patients.

Doctor Zendu peeked out the door to his waiting room where a Security Droid had confiscated any weapons upon the patient's arrival. There sat a red Twi'lek with yellow eyes and interesting markings on her face and Lekku. Doctor Zendu noticed that his new patient was obviously making his new receptionist, a small male Bothan, very nervous. The Doctor sighed. With the brand of patients he treated, his private practice had been a rotating door for good receptionists since the young man graduated from medical school.

He gave a tight-lipped smile and looked down at the woman, clutching her file to his chest.

"Miss Brevitæ, I presume?"

Brevitæ had just been enjoying a good book about a Little Lost Bantha when she heard her name called, interrupting her on page 27. She committed that number to memory so she would be able to come back to it after her visit and finish this lovely story of family and friendship.

Yellow eyes darting up to identify the very professional-looking man peeking out of the doorway, the lethan twi'lek hopped to attention and waved jubilantly, tattooed lekku whipping about like wind socks in a heavy breeze. Oh, this would be so much fun! She had never seen a therapist before, so this would be quite an experience! She wondered if he liked fish, because she had not seen an aquarium in the waiting room. She liked fish. They tasted good and were good for the skin.

Jouncing over to [member="Doctor Zendu"], Brevitæ pulled out her pen and scrawled a quick message on the palm of her left hand, then shoved it in the man's face so that he might be able to read it. He was wearing glasses, after all. Hi! I'm a doctor! it read. Some people tended not to believe her, so she liked to make sure it was quite clear. She grinned rally sweetly and pushed forward into his office, bidding him follow her so they might get this fun experience started!

As her hand came towards his face, the Doctor momentarily jumped. Then he read the chicken scratch on her palm. Tilting his head to one side, he brought her file up and tapped on it with a pen. "Oh yes, it says that right here in your file you're a medic. Well then, from one medical professional to another, welcome! Come on in Doctor Brevitae and make yourself..."

And she ran on in ahead of him. This was going to be a very interesting session indeed. He followed her, still clutching her file to his chest.

Doctor Zendu's office was sleeky decorated and softly lit with huge expansive windows that looked down onto the city below. Located on the top floor of a Belasco skytower, it had fantastic views. It wasn't ideal for patients with Acrophobia, but that's what shades were for.

Bending with slightly stooped posture, he gestured to the Hover sofa. "Most patients prefer to lounge on the Hover sofa, but you may sit anywhere you like." He paused. With a patient like Brevitae, it was best to set some very strict boundaries right off the bat. "Anywhere but my desk, that is." He grinned. From his obsessively neat desk he plucked a little black notebook and sensing that she'd need one, a legal pad and pen for his patient, which he handed to her.

"Now then. Once you've gotten settled, perhaps you can talk a bit about why you came to me today."

Without delay, the twi'lek snatched the pad and pen and jounced over to the comfy sofa, where she made herself quite comfortable. This sofa was softer than most beds she had ever slept on. Phenomenal!

Now, apparently they were actually going to go through with this appointment! Brevitæ was ecstatic, having never experienced one of these psychological sessions before. She had treated herself to this little adventure after scaring the socks off the last smuggler. But she had this nice man and an entire pad of paper to go through today. It was quite thrilling, really.

Furiously, the red one began to scrawl on her note paper a response to Doctor Zendu's inquiry. Eventually, the scratching of pen against paper abated and the awkward woman turned the pad around to reveal what she had just written.

People say I am a mime. I want to be a philosopher.

Adjusting his glasses, the doctor leaned in and peered at the writing. Then he gave the Twi'lek a broad grin. "Ah, philosophy is a wonderful subject to study, but with a galaxy this vast, what kind of philosophy in particular interests you? There is the Virtuous Circle of Nature studied by the Ho'din, the Tyia of Force users, the Smuggler's Way, Xenoocentrism. The list goes on and on. With the Holonet you have access to the best philosophical information out there." He enthusiastically gestured around to his own bookshelves, which lined the walls of his office. "I also have many philosophy books here myself if you'd like to borrow any of them."

After scribbling a few notes in his little black book, the doctor tilted his head and looked at his patient with thin-lipped concern.

"This can't be what's distressing you though is it? Brevitae, is there something else bothering you?"

She beamed and gazed off into the distance with a daydreamy sort of look as [member="Doctor Zendu"] went through a catalog of various philosophical subjects and viewpoints, immersing herself in enlightenment. Oh, yes, this all sounded like a new tattoo waiting to happen. Where would she etch the next one?

She was interrupted from her odd musings as the doctor pushed for serious stuff. That was a very hard thing to explain, but she thought she might be able to convey that. The sounds of supersonic scribbles resounded within the small room as Brevitæ wrote out her response.

I got kicked out of the boys' bathroom. I lost my pet fish. :-(
