Private An Unusual Homecoming

It was a strange feeling smuggling yourself back to your homeworld. All those years ago when Kaen had first left Empress Teta, it had been deeply in the thrall of the Galactic Alliance. He was still technically an Alliance citizen, he supposed, but such a title held little weight to him anymore. He had left that life behind, and with it, all ties to the nation that he viewed as the oppressor of his people. Now though, Empress Teta was free. It answered to another ruler, yes, but it was not under the shackle of the Jedi and the government they had formed to serve them. Empress Teta would stand strong.

The Krath too would stand strong.

During his travels, Kaen had gotten wind of the rejuvenation of the Krath movement. He felt deeply connected to the notion of the organization, and now that he was no longer under the shackles of that foolish Dark Jedi, he had been exploring his desires. First to Korriban, and now, to return home and seek out a group he desired to see flourish. Kaen wanted to see the Krath grow once more and rise to the heights only achieved in ancient times during the war of Exar Kun.

Bringing the ship down to the landing pad, Kaen descended the ramp even as it was lowering, his eagerness to be back on Empress Teta driving him forward. Steel rimmed black boots clanked against the ground as he marched forward, the black cloak billowing out behind him as he took in the cityscape around him. He breathed in the air, familiar smells washing across his sense mixed with his new found strength in the Dark Side. He closed his eyes, opening his mind to the world around him and embracing this singular moment, burning his homecoming into his mind.

Approaching footsteps drew his attention. Opening his eyes, the golden orbs settled on the approaching security officers, their hands straying close to their blasters. "Calm yourselves," Kaen said, his deep, resonating voice infused with a touch of the Force, "I have been invited here to meet with the Lady Dyans Keto. I have the permission here." Reaching into the pocket of his pants, he extended the datachip to the security officer. It was true, Kaen had received an invitation but only after he had begun making inquiries into the state of Empress Teta. After checking the validity of the datachip, the security officer nodded and directed Kaen to a waiting speeder. Kaen dipped his head to the officers, before walking the short distance to the speeder and climbing in.

It was time to uncover the truth.

Dyans stood looking out a large window in the east tower office of the Great library, it had a view overseeing the royal district. She was watching diligently down onto the old Palace grounds where the new citadel was being built. It had been over thirty years since the Galactic alliance had been destroyed with her being trapped underneath it. Now though with her miraculous resurrection she saw to it that the Palace be the first thing rebuilt that the Alliance had destroyed.

She watched as works on the ground scurried about moving material about and making sure measurements were perfect. There were so many projects to complete, before the next time the Alliance chose to come for her world again. It almost seemed impossible but with her new backing with the Dark Empire her vision seemed clearer than ever before her. Though one would say her dealings with the Dark Empire were a bit tenuous, she did not share in their love for their dead Emperor Solipsis. It made the more zealous member of the Emperors cult despise her.

She was pulled from her viewing of the work being done outside by one of her guards in Mandalorian crusader armor entering the office. The guard dropped to one knee and apologies for entering unannounced. Dyans simply waved a hand for him to rise. "What news do you bring me?" The guard slowly rose and relayed to her that security was escort Lord Alaron to the Great Library. Dyans nodded her ever present stone face look upon her face.

"When he arrives have escorted up to this office, he has requested a meeting, and he is a citizen of this world so treat him as such." She made that clear to her guard because it had been made clear to be wary of outsiders and citizens were afforded more privileges. Even if he was a sith, another demographic the authority on Empress Teta did not trust to much. With a hand she simply waved the guard away and turned to looking back out the window until her guest arrived.

The flight to the Great Library was swift. The view was breathtaking from the heights they flew at, higher than most of the other traffic across the city of Cinnagar. It had changed since he had last seen it. All things changed, Kaen knew, but in the back of his mind, illogical as it was, he had thought Cinnagar would have remained exactly as he remembered it. A youthful notion, Kaen mused as he leaned back in the seat of the speeder, his gaze being drawn to the Palace being rebuilt.

That was something he had hoped would change. He had heard of the Iron Citadels destruction at the hands of the Galactic Alliance, but the resilience of his people would see it return from the ashes of history.

The speeder finally made its descent to the Great Library, dropping Kaen off at the entrance before taking off barely a moment later. Kaen watched it go, an eyebrow raised for a moment at their haste. It would seem someone was uncomfortable to be here. As he began walking towards the structure, the sense of a being strong in the Force touched against his mind. No, that was not right. A being that had been changed by the Force, altered by it and molded into something new. Something different. Kaen had to resist the urge to smile as he stepped into the Great Library. It was shaping up to be a rather enticing meeting already.

When he eventually found Dyans Keto in the library, staring out the window overlooking the Royal District below, he knew he had found the source of the feeling. Dismissing the guards who had brought him in with a wave of his hand, Kaen approached Dyans, though stopped at a respectful distance away. He had never met her in person, but knew her by reputation. Propriety before everything else, especially in a first meeting.

"Empress Keto," Kaen said, bowing his head and folding an arm across his chest, "I thank you for the chance you have granted me to speak with you."

At first, she did not turn to face the man, her jade eyes continuing to peer out the window towards the construction down below. Yet slowly she began to turn to face him, keeping her stoic straight face as she did, seeing the man bow his head in gesture towards her. Her stone gaze kept upon the man, as she looked him up and down as if studying him.

"Mr. Alaron." She addressed him with a slight head nod not knowing of if the man had any special titles, she should formally address him with. "Welcome to Empress Teta and Cinnagar I hope your travels went well?" Dyans knew the journey to Empress Teta was not an easy one to accomplish having to go through Alliance territory to get here and that could be treacherous.

"I should say welcome back, more so. How long has it been since you last were home?" It had been a while since Dyans had heard anything about the noble house of Alaron. Though a minor house she did like to keep watch of the noble houses as much as she could. After the Alliances interference on the world for many years she was even contemplating raising some the minor houses up to fill in the empty positions of higher noble houses that had been eradicated.

"You petitioned to see me, I try to accommodate nobles of my kingdom when I can. So what is it you wish to speak with me about?"

Kaen Alaron stood motionless for a brief moment, his silver-gray eyes fixed respectfully upon the floor as Dyans addressed him. Her words carried the weight of authority, and he let the silence linger a moment longer, both a show of deference and to consider his reply.

As she finished speaking, he lifted his gaze, his expression calm yet marked with a depth of sincerity. Bowing slightly, Kaen placed his hand over his heart, a gesture both humble and reverent.

"Your Majesty," he began, his voice steady, resonant with purpose. "I am honored to stand before you once more. Empress Teta's majesty remains unparalleled, and though the journey to return was long, it is a small price to pay for the privilege of being in your presence. My gratitude for your audience cannot be overstated."

He straightened, though his demeanor remained respectful, his words measured. "It has indeed been some time since my House walked these halls, though we never ceased to hold our Queen and homeland in the highest esteem. Much has changed, yet the bond we hold to this throne endures, as strong as tempered durasteel."

Kaen paused, choosing his next words with care. "I have come to reaffirm the loyalty of House Alaron to you, my Queen, and to pledge what strength we still possess to your service. The times ahead grow dark, and the legacy of Empress Teta must endure. If there is any role we might play, I stand ready to fulfill it."

Lowering his gaze briefly, he added with a solemn sincerity, "You honor me with this opportunity to speak. Whatever the will of the Queen demands, House Alaron shall answer."
