"The dead cannot cry out for justice. It is a duty of the living to do so for them."

"Dai! Dai! What do you think we're doing?! We can talk this out. Please Sis!"

The sound of blaster shots echoed through the air, alongside the thud of a body slumping down to the ground. The sound echoed throughout the room...though room was perhaps not the right term to use for Daiga's surroundings. A pure black void, empty of any detail. There was not a single breeze in this void, nor the sense of warmth. Even the sensation of cold was absent. There was nothing. Nothing except Daiga, the blasters in her hand and the body slumped against the ground. Her cheeks stung, as fresh tears streamed down her face. Her foot reached out to kick against the body, turning it over to see the face. The face of the person they had shot. Her own family. Yet...the face staring back at her was her own. Those cold blue eyes staring directly at her, the face contorting and scowling at her as it spoke. It spoke with a voice mixed with some kind of darkness. A strange reverb echoing through the dark void.

"Why did you do it? Why did you kill them? They were your family. They loved you. You're alone. You'll always be alone. Even in death."

At that, a pair of murky hands sprouted out from the void beneath Daiga's feet. Her heart froze, as the hands seemed to drag her down beneath into the void. Wails of suffering and agony echoed throughout the abyss as she was dragged further and further down. Her blasters were gone. Her vibroblades vanished in the blink of an eye. She was helpless as the Mercenary was beginning to drown in her own guilt. A visual embodiment of the weight that was dragging her down, bringing her down. Taking her to a dark place that she wouldn't be able to recover from...At least until she suddenly felt a sharp searing pain through her side, a burning that engulfed the entire of her left side, before her eyes opened, and she awoke.

Her gaze focused on the ceiling. A strange ceiling. But her main focus was on the pain throbbing at her side, as she pressed her hand against it. That...That was it. She remembered some of what had happened. This was meant to be some simple job. Check in, make sure there wasn't anything going on, and get back out. It was meant to be simple. The fact that she was laying on what felt like a bed, half-delirious and feeling like she had taken a blaster bolt to her side, it was clearly anything but simple. But...how did she get here? The last thing Daiga remembered, she was here alone...yet as she sat herself up, it was clear that she wasn't alone in this room at all.

"So, you're finally awake," a voice declared with certainty, accompanied by the soft sound of footsteps on the laminate flooring beneath their feet as they entered the room. Covered from head to toe in armour, the figure stepped forward, his steps quietened by the tread of weathered and worn boots, attached to armour plates that carried across his body, layered one on top of another, a fortress given purpose and the uncanny ability to move despite the weight that wrapped around his frame. "Be careful, I was just about finished fitting a bacta patch when I got interrupted there."

His right hand, gloved in a layer of dark synthweave, waved towards her side and the source of the pain. A gleam of red dashed across his fingertips, reflected in the harsh glow of a ceiling light above, barely bright enough to illuminate the bare room. It contained little more than a bed and a set of drawers currently covered in medical supplies.

His left hand stayed close to his hip, and the blaster that peeked ominously from a leather holster connected to his belt and upper thigh.

"Now, I hope you don't mind, but I happened to run you're face through some of the local networks while I was trying to figure out what got you blasted. Naturally, you popped up, along with the corpse beside you in that alley. Fortunately for you, I was passing by, and it just so happens the corpse had a partner with a bounty on it. So, you got a little healing. I get a bounty," he shrugged, then, coming to a stop near the bed, his iconic T-visor staring down upon Daiga. "So, you got a name you prefer?"

"The dead cannot cry out for justice. It is a duty of the living to do so for them."

Almost straight away, Daiga's hand went towards her blaster. She didn't care if this was some kind of saviour. She didn't know who he was. There was a small frown on her face at the sight of all the armour. Armour was a crutch in her eyes. You could use it, but you shouldn't rely on it. Yet she didn't move to remove her blaster from her hip. Instead she listened to him, the scowl still on her face.

"Considering the fact you've already done it, I don't think it matters if I mind or not. What's done is done."

She pushed herself up, not bothering to answer the stranger's question. Not yet at least. She just needed to get her head switched on. And fast. She was alive. That was the most important thing. She shouldn't be. But there were a lot of people who were alive that shouldn't be. Plenty of people who should be rotting six feet under and she was one of them in her eyes.

"Daiga. That's my name."

Behind the visor, Itzhal's assessing stare followed the sharp and hurried sweep of Daiga's hand as she reached towards her blaster, an instinctive reaction to the rude awakening that, despite her scowl, Itzhal couldn't help but find reasonable. After all, he'd been on the other side of the scenario plenty of times before, even if it was usually another Mandalorian, with whatever allegiances and grudges came with such offers of help. Most of those times, they'd both walked away alive if not entirely happy, he hoped this time would be another. It even seemed likely given that she hadn't fully drawn her weapon. A favour on her side of the equation, for all that the threat still existed, a vague sense of danger like a boot dangling over a tripwire.

Her voice hissed through the air like a dagger forged of ice, cold and sharp, yet fairly measured as he reflected upon the weight of his past assistance and the method of his repayment. He could hardly fault her for harbouring a grudge over his claim to the bounty; after all, it had been her who put in the effort to knock her assailant down, only for him to swoop in with the prize. If not for the help he'd provided, he wouldn't have even considered the action, distasteful as it was. Sometimes, though, people swallowed help better when it came with a cost. Whether Daiga was one of those people, he wasn't sure; he didn't ask.

The firm plates of beskar that lay upon his shoulders shifted with a shrug that seemed almost nonchalant, for how minuscule the movement was, a slim veneer to the effort required to make the movements both noticeable and graceful at the same time—a gesture made to express despite the limitations of the iron raiment he wore.

"I'd call it a pleasure, but I find it distasteful to lie. I will merely say I'm happy to see that you're up and about," Itzhal's helmet tilted downwards in a gesture of welcome, the blank glare of his visor somehow more expressive than the even tone of his voice. "Now, I do not wish to hurry you; however, since there is currently a corpse in my bathroom that was previously looking for you, I'd rather appreciate knowing if you suspect further trespassers in the immediate future. I fear that the hotel staff will already be rather cross with me. It would be bothersome to add further reasons to their list."
