STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Amara is extremely clever and creative; she is quick on her feet in both a literal and metaphorical sense, and can come up with new and innovative solutions to problems since she sees things differently than others. She is empathetic, which can be a strength and a weakness all in one. Her ability to feel for and with others makes her an amicable companion, but often puts an additional and unnecessary emotional strain on her. Good with mechanics.
Amara is impulsive to the point of recklessness and often finds herself in trouble because of it. She is hot headed and mouthy, like most teenagers, and often regrets what she says after it's already been spoken. It is hard for her to reign herself in once she gets started. She doesn't care for authority figures and has a habit of pickpocketing when she is between jobs.
APPEARANCE:
Amara is a slight thing, willowy yet strong, and has a light tan. She has a scar running vertically from just above her right eyebrow to slightly below her cheekbone from when she was thrown from a swoop at the age of 13. She often wears clothing that is light in both color and material, enabling her to remain cool on her home planet of Tatooine. She wears slightly beat up goggles to keep the sand out of her eyes and is very rarely seen without them at least on top of her head or around her neck. She carries a brown leather satchel.
BIOGRAPHY:
Amara was born and raised in Mos Eisley on the planet Tatooine. She grew up on Straight Street, where her father worked as a merchant, although her home was significantly farther north than the market, and spent most of her days at home with her mother or at her father's market stall. Amara spent most of her time in the market learning to read, count, and speak various languages. Amara's mother tried valiantly to keep her indoors when she was not at the market with her father, but Amara often found ways to sneak out since her mother was preoccupied with her two younger brothers, and by the age of 12 she was terrorizing the streets with the other local children.
Amara's friends were not the best influences, and Amara often found herself in trouble with locals and law enforcement. The most grievous crime she committed was at the age of 13 when she was dared by one of the boys she tagged around with to steal a swoop. She did so, but she was a rather unskilled pilot and was quickly sent headfirst into a market stall, resulting in her scar. The resultant punishments from both her family and law enforcement put her juvenile crime spree to an end, and she became much more focused on her studies at that point. At 14 she was given a job at a nearby speeder shop, owned by a family friend, and she found that she had a knack for mechanical repairs. She fixed speeders and brought in a few extra (and vital) credits for her family. It was during the same year that her father was killed when a fight between two spacers escalated and blasters were drawn. Because of this she has an almost irrational hatred of blasters and is extremely nervous around people who use them in situations that are less than dire. She suddenly felt the weight of her family fall onto her shoulders, and she struggled valiantly to keep her father's stall running smoothly. However, the work became too much for her and her mother and the business folded before Amara reached her 15th birthday.
In an effort to ease the burden now placed on her mother, Amara began working full time in whichever speeder shops would give her work. There were a few minor altercations between her and some of the seedier shop owners, one of which resulted in her arrest, but she was later released without being charged with any crime. At 16, Amara boarded a trade vessel on its way to the Inner Rim in the hopes of finding work and very quickly discovered that the toughness she had been forced to adopt on Tatooine was not always a bad thing.
