Somewhere between the stacks of ancient Jedi holocrons and a suspiciously tilted bust of Master Ooroo, Rikuan crouched low behind a row of databanks, his tail swaying in quiet anticipation.

"This," he whispered, passing a palm-sized device to Riley like a smuggler offloading contraband, "is the smellburst emitter. I recalibrated the scent output to something between overcooked nerf stew and wet Wookiee fur. Five minute delay. Perfect for the meditation chambers."

He grinned, sharp canines peeking through, mischief glowing in his eyes like twin suns. The tiny lightsaber on his hip swung gently with his movement, its yellow crystal quietly humming with contained energy. But right now, it wasn’t about sabers or saber forms. It was about legacy. Trickster legacy.

“Phase one: the scent,” Rikuan said, glancing over his shoulder before crawling to the next terminal. “Phase two: holo-projection loop. You finished reprogramming that training droid, right? The one that’s gonna keep quoting Master Caltin on loop?”

He rubbed his palms together and whispered, “Master So’la is gonna lose it. She hates non-linear logic.” Then, mockingly channeling his inner elder: “‘Pranks erode discipline. Laughter is not a path to the Force.’” a dramatic roll of the eyes followed.

"Well, laughter is the path to not losing our minds between six-hour kata drills and watching Knight Veel eat soup like he's in a duel."

From somewhere deeper in the archives, a floor panel creaked. Rikuan froze mid-sentence, ears twitching.

“…Tell me you rigged the fallback exit.”

The Rol-Lor looked as she stood there.. the library was important enough and damaging things would have been bad... that being said she had the repair drone designated with Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor speech on a loop. She had a grin on her face though as her dark honey colored tail twitched and wrapped around her wrist. She had joined the jedi when they came to her world since she was considered one of the guardians of the planet. Her hair was longer as she looked at the other boy and it was strange... he looked likke some of their cousins on the planet only a little smaller... she was more curious and had thought that maybe some of her species had gotten offworld before her and the others.

"Done." She said it while standing there for a moment and backing up a little. She rolled her shoulders with a look before moving to be the lookout. "How long are you setting it for?" She asked with a smirk on her face though as she was serious about the plan.. and she wanted to make sure they had the means to escape or at least get away before someone came.. it wasn't much of a prank if you didn't get away with it after all. "It is clear to get out of here." Her grin remained on her face when she moved further down the stacks.

When Riley confirmed she'd rigged the fallback exit, Rikuan flashed her an approving grin and threw her a thumbs up. Everything was going well, so well that his own tail began to excitedly wave on its own.

The Makurian took the emitter back from Riley, popping it open in his hand, thumb hovering above the setting dial, squinting at the readout

"Setting it for three minutes." he answered in a hushed tone.

It was plenty of time to clear out and still be close enough to hear the chaos ensue. With that, his thumb pressed the dial and the countdown quietly begun. Soon, the meditation chambers and the archives were about to filled with a horrendous stench, followed by Master Caltin's training holos replayed on a loop to add fuel to the fire.

Just as he backed away from the terminal, a creaking floor panel broke the silence deeper in the archives. Rikuan froze mid-step, tail suspended in the air, ears flicking toward the sound like satellite dishes. His head slowly turned in the direction of the noise, eyes narrowing.

"Uh...what was that?" he whispered to Riley, his voice suddenly tight.

Another soft creak. It was the sound of boots, and they were getting louder. Rikuan crouched low, instincts kicking in. His species weren't exactly known for their subtlety, but stealth? That was in his blood.

He crept back toward Riley, voice barely audible now. "Don't tell me..." slamming the palm of his hand over his face.

The light on the emitter blinked twice: two and a half minutes left. Time was-a-ticking. Then he heard it, her voice - Master So'la. Turning around, he looked up and saw her, an elderly Togruta, hands on her hips and scowling at the pair. She was all too familiar with Rikuan's antics.

"Padawans Rikuan and Jenson. What are you two troublemakers up to?" she asked, tone accusatory and expression sharp.

One minute forty now. Rikuan cast Riley a sidelong glance, lips tugging into a devilish grin.

"Go, go, go!" he exclaimed.

SHe looked at him as returning he set the timer... interest for the moment and she was climbing a little as she listened. Silently flicking her tail back and forth for a moment until he was returning with the timer ticking down. The elder togruta approaching them as it was blown.. they had been discovered at least for now and there was only one chance as Riku said to go go go... Riley moved and jumped back using her memories of the temple itself before she was moving. Her tail acting like a counterbalance as she gripped and twisted herself over different parts while running quickly. She was running and kept her attention on everything around her.. to avoid running into someone as she lept and rush towards a gap at the door to slide through. A small smirk tugging at her lips.

Riley didn’t need to be told twice. The moment Rikuan shouted, she was already in motion, tail whipping for balance as she launched herself up the library’s support beams with feline ease. She twisted over ledges and slid between study alcoves like she’d mapped the place in her dreams, vanishing toward the far corridor with a flick of her tail and a fleeting smirk. Big respect.

Rikuan on the other hand, made his way to the fallback exit the Makurian way. He leapt up onto a holobook shelf, using the frame like a jungle gym, claws skimming the surface as he vaulted from one ledge to the next. His tail whipped around for balance, body twisting mid-air as he ricocheted off a support beam, then swung himself down via a low-hanging light fixture that wobbled dangerously in his wake.

A startled protocol droid shuffled out of his path with a panicked “Oh my!” as Rikuan flipped over it, tucked into a shoulder roll, and skidded across the polished floor, landing crouched, just inches from the maintenance panel Riley had rigged earlier.

Behind him, the rising sound of confusion echoed from the archives. He could hear So'la yelling something about “reporting this to the Council.” The emitter had maybe forty seconds left.

“Might wanna hold your nose, Master!” Rikuan grinned, and popped open the panel - disappearing inside.

~~~~~~~~~~
Ten minutes later, he was reclining on the upper rim of the Temple’s east courtyard fountain, one leg dangling over the side as he tossed dried meiloorun slices into his mouth. The scentbomb would’ve gone off by now. He imagined chaos still rippling through the meditation chambers like a shockwave.
He had a front-row view of the entry halls from here, perfect for spotting Riley once she slipped out. And the poor souls that found themselves inside the archives when the emitter went off.
Then out one came, then two, three - and a whole lot more. Gagging and coughing, eyes watering. He overheard Padawans, Knights and some Masters discussing what happened, complaining about the smell and the training droid with Master Caltin's training regiments on loop. One even commented how Master So'la reeked ofovercooked nerf stew and wet Wookiee fur.
Rikuan leaned back, arms behind his head, tail draped lazily across the fountain rim. Grinning to himself.
“Best prank of the season.” he muttered to himself with a satisfied smirk.
Now, he waited for Riley.
The smell was one of the first things she noticed when she finally stopped and was hanging herself on the edge of a window... the chase had been intense... lots of thrills, chills and there was big fanged beasts going after her or at least that is what she would say if someone asked.. the benefit of a temple was also the biggest thing... if you were good enough you could lose yourself in a crowd and her most distinct feature her tail was able to be wrapped around her waist like a beat... it make identification via it.... harder. SHe was moving and circled around the temple quickly enough... working to avoid suspicion as she looked scanning the crowd for Riku when she moved slipping between two other jedi to come around beside him. A small smile tugging at her lips before she grinned with a large smile. "Fun times."
