Aliit ori'shya tal'din: E'vi Sohl comes home

@E'vi Sohl

Mandalore
1000 hours
Keldabe Market

Ordo sat with his feet up behind a small booth. He had been doing well for himself lately and he decided to set up at the Market to sell some of his Roba for cheap. His Buy'ce sat on the stand beside his armored feet. His big hands folded across his stomach as he sat with a long piece of barely straw between his lips.

He hadn't been drunk now for 3 weeks and things were a lot clearer than thay had been. His trips to Coruscant had been leaving him more alive than he had felt in a long time and he had painted orange clan symbols along with the mythosaur skulls on his shoulders. The black armor still stood for justice but the orange was to show the lust for life he now felt growing.

It was a good day and the way he felt he may just give some of the Roba away.

The scuff of her boots along the paths of the market was lost amidst the other sounds. It was a welcome cacophony, with mostly mando'a filtering through the air. A warmer atmosphere, for certain, compared to the market near the house she'd grown up in on Socorro. Cade would adore this, E'vi mused, allowing a short laugh to escape her lips as she narrowly avoided a pair of younglings running hell bent down the path she'd been on. A rather harried mother followed in their wake, nodding gratefully as she pointed the direction they'd gone in.

She really didn't need anything, per se, but felt drawn to the market that morning for a reason she couldn't name. Three days had passed since she'd arrived, and she'd not seen Emberli since that first afternoon in the cantina. He'd had his own business to attend to, as did she. She would somehow have to find a way to repay him for the kindness of letting her use his apartment until she could get onto her own two feet.

The breeze wreaked havoc with her long blonde curls, tossing them in her eyes even though it had already tangled them. She muttered under her breath and stopped to admire the modified KX-80 one of the weapons dealers had for sale. E'vi was tempted to buy it, but walked past the stall for the time being. There was still much to see, and she had all day to spend touring the market. Two stalls down, a distinctly fragrant aroma assaulted her senses and drew her towards the imposing looking warrior behind it.

"Su cuy'gar..." E'vi said with a smile and a nod of her head, taking her hands out of her jacket pockets. "...tion'solet?"

Ordo looked up he was thinking hard about off loading his meats and Roba and just going home. His big shoulders rolled forward as he stood when the young woman came up to his little booth and asked how much..

'How much.' he thought that was a good question. He was going to sell the live ones for 30 credits for all and the smoked meats for 10 credits a pound. However, she had a nice smile and he hadn't sold a thing all day.

"It depends Ad'ika." he said leaning on the booth with one hand as he sized her up. "How hungry are you?"

She looked like a tough young woman, her Mando'a was sharp and she had a better accent than he did, but he hadn't seen her before. He knew most of the vode here and that meant either they'd been hiding this one or she was new in town.

The brunette lofted a brow and crossed her arms over her chest and looked at him carefully. She was thankful that there was absolutely nothing to remind her of her father in his features or the way he held himself. This, she mused, was not a man who had ever been declared dar'manda, unlike the one that had done most of the work to raise her.

"Hungry enough to make a couple of pie crusts this morning and to want roba for the filling..." E'vi grinned even as her voice trailed off, her gaze going distant as the same pair of younglings came tearing by once more. This time she was ready, however, with hands darting out to catch each of them by their collars in a practiced maneuver. They wriggled and squirmed until she cleared her throat and lofted a brow at them, handing them over to their mother. She nodded gratefully and began reading them the riot act as she led them away.

"...apologies. She's been chasing them as long as I've been in the market this morning, and they remind me of my little hellion."

Ordo smiled she was a fiery one. She had Mando woman written all over her and Ordo was getting tired of sitting around.

"How much roba do you need, ad'ika." He said as he watched her snatch the to little rambunctious kids. He listened to her explain. "One of your own huh? Not with you?"

Ordo loved kids he had a daughter, Anija but none of his own. He was still working on the finding a woman part. Though he didn't really look very hard these days. He seemed content to sit and fake being grouchy.

"Must be with dad or grandparents?" Ordo was prying but he didn't care at the moment.

"Three pounds of the smoked should do it, vor'e." E'vi replied after a moment, taking the time to do a quick calculation in her mind.

"One of my own, yes. Cade is almost three years old. He's staying with some friends who have a little one of their own while I get settled here in Keldabe. I don't have any family worth speaking of, and Cade's father...also not worth mentioning. Cade is my son." she replied, lifting her chin even as she tucked her hands into her pockets.

Her tone was even, and relatively light, but there was no mistaking it's meaning. She took a pardonable amount of pride in having been able to raise Cade thus far in life, and would let no one tell her otherwise. E'vi's expression softened somewhat, the thought bringing to mind the fact that it was likely an innocent comment meant in a conversational context. It was perfectly reasonable to ask after family, after all, especially here, where it was everything.

"Apologies...I've become so accustomed to defending my life choices that it has become a terrible habit."

Ordo was a lot of things. Brute, bastard, deadly but above the rest he had a fatherly streak a Keldabe mile wide. The idea of the woman and child needing help getting going was all it really took. Ordo did things fast. He made decisions based on his personal honor system and he believed there was more to the Manda than a collective hole in the ground to toss bodies.

Ordo wrapped 4 lbs of meat in some brown flimsy and sat it on the counter. She needed to make no apologies but it impressed him that she did so. He prided himself on judging character and the young woman was special.

"You have a place to stay where the boy can eun." He asked. He was probing now
A thought was sneaking into his tired head and her answer would make up his mind.

"I..."

E'vi dipped her head and stared down for several moments, fingers absently rummaging in her pockets for the credit chips she knew were in there somewhere. With a sigh, she shook her head, flipping the credit around in her fingers as she withdrew it from its hiding place.

"...I do not. Someone was generous enough to let me use their apartment here in Keldabe, and I wasn't planning on bringing Cade down here until I was settled. He's a whirlwind, my little one, liable to make Emberli regret his generosity. Somehow I don't think his ability to leave destruction in his path would be appreciated very many places."

Fingers dropped the little chip on the counter and absently resettled the belt and holsters over her hips. Her favorite Dissuader in one, and her SH-9 in the other, fingertips rested there a moment before returning to her jacket pockets.

Ordo straightened and pushed her credits away. He looked at the girl she was young, nor too young by Mando standards but young to him.

"Did I tell you to pay me?" He said his deep booming voice drawing some chuckles from a few that already knew him. "Take it."

Ordo fished in his belt and pulled out a keycard and his datapad. He typed a few lines and sat the pad down.

"That's a key and the direction to my farm." He said pushing everything toward her. "I have ten blasted rooms and I only use two. You can stay or not."

He sat down and pulled a flask out of his belt.

"Blasted kids need space to shabla break things!" He said playing tough again. He really needed to stop being so shabla soft but he was a sucker for kids.
