Aliases, alternate identities, and oh-feth-please-don't-ban-me-I-didn't-mean-anything-by-it

I want to clarify before I begin that this is all hypothetical. I have not done this yet, and if it doesn't seem like it would fly I will make no attempt at it.
That out of the way...

Would it fly with RPJs for a character to have a secret identity, in a new subaccount, that is part of an entirely different faction?
For instance, I have a character in the Spynet. Say, for the sake of the argument, that this character went undercover in the Republic. Could I make a new character so as not to make it blatantly obvious that this character was Spynet? It wouldn't be completely hidden (playby would be a different photo of the same person, there would be hints [if not blatantly stated] in the bio, etc.), but it wouldn't be out in the open in my name, signature, etc. When the time came for the identity to be revealed - say, he broke cover made off with some intelligence - it would be publicized in the faction and they would certainly have a chance to stop the character.
The main reason I'm asking is because I feel like this would be possible and even encouraged IC, but OOC I feel that some people might get upset if something like this were to occur. I don't want to make people mad, and especially don't want IC issues to become OOC ones, but I also think that this is totally within the bounds for the character and agency he works for.

That's completely doable and allowed, and no one will get mad at you.

However, people will easily have access to your information, cause all they have to do is go to your profile and click "Characters".

Boom.

Secret Identity blown.

In the OOC of course.

[member="Fatty"] Well, yes, but that's an extra step. No matter how good people are at firewalling, there will always be someone who makes a point to be suspicious every time they meet the character IC if the info is in the sig. It won't be impossible to find, I'm just trying to actually make it effective.

And good to know that it'll be fine. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a character to plan.

Okay, new question. Again, seeing what I can get away with.
So, say I have an undercover PC in a faction, as outlined above. I have notified the faction owner that I am a spy, and the information is available to anyone who does even a modest amount of research.
Say that this PC wants to steal some information, and sets up a thread to do so. Would it be in poor taste for this thread to simply be marked as a Dev Thread in Open RPing? The idea, of course, is not to be caught, so I don't think it would be in my (or, from a story perspective, anyone's) best interest to publicly announce "hey, I'm sending off intel!"
Of course, this kind of thread would only be for small leaks. Stealing war plans, government secrets, or top-secret blueprints would be publicized and have a grand old chase thread.

I reckon you ought to at least tell the Faction Leader and make sure they're okay with it and what you're jacking. Particularly since they may have actually legitimately devved defences and it's annoying for someone to just come in and be like, lol spy stealing stuff in a closed thread!
