Not for the taste but for the sake of calming his nerves, citing agitation if he does not get his hourly intake.As a novice politician he is out of his depth. Speculation on his appointment skews more towards dumb luck than actual politicking. A bit of an underdog candidate falling through the chairs and into the office.

Alexander built a reputation for reliability and forethought in his role as a software developer turned project leader turned department head turned president (of a company). In short, the man's got a few ideas on how to lead a team towards success.He signed up for a campaign figuring he had little to no chance but that it would be valuable knowledge for any future project. The numbers were astronomically misaligned against him, except the favored candidate lost his spot in the race due to a corruption shakedown which just so happened to help put a spotlight on the underdogs. Although most of his voters were more jokers and pity votes, it turns out that if a system is laughable enough, fate laughs along with you.
Now he's been sent to Naboo in order to represent a whole planet on a galactic level. Was 'Lex' ready for this? Absolutely not, but he'd damned well make the most of it.
