Background
On the short part, Alex is a guy coming from a familly which wasn't really strange to war, his father was a soldier, a sniper to be more accurate and taught him since he was a child, the moment when he also had an affinity for weapons. He would have wanted to follow his father's example at 18, to be a soldier but it was not to be, his familly was killed by mercenaries, who hired them is unknown and is part of why he became an assassin, to hunt down whoever did this to him and find out why.
About the force dead thing, he has been captured by the vong and turned as they tried to make him a weapon of war.
