Appearance
His accountrement is a skin tight, ribbed body suit--predominantly black, with slivers of grey effectively utilized to highlight the ribbed textures and various swirling designs. Polyfibe metal subtly gleams and is used for generalized protection against blaster fire, blades and the like. A greater concentration was constructed into the suit around the areas where vital organs are located. His figure is thin, though lean with muscle and evidently athletic. He wears a versatile utility belt and sash equipped with various items ranging from an A99 Aquata Breather, concentrated bacta capsules for emergency wound treatment, smoke grenades and thermal detonators. Akalis' left arm, from the elbow down is purely cybernetic as a result of traumatic injury. Mechanically inclined, the boy has personally modified the arm to include a built in fiber cord grappling hook for scaling environments, a holoprojector for communication, and a hidden compartment in which to store his lightsaber.
Biography
Akalis was born on the panet of Nubia unto a wealthy and blessed family of high stature. His mother and father were both respected cohorts within the massive pharmaceutical distributor, PharmCorp. Among the temperate plains, sprawling mountains and verdant oceans, the boy lived a comfortable, happy life there for four years. He acquired the attention of the Jedi, his parents first making note of his peculiar behavior, with his extrasensory abilities. He appeared to be aware of things before they happened, he was keen and quick of wit, reflexive, and some would say remarkably wise for such a young child. It was not long before he was taken away and ushered forth towards his training, initiating the start of a long, daunting, positive and perilous journey into a a vast, amazing and unforgiving world guided by the living, breathing Force.
Akalis was declared padawan at the age of 9 years old. His master went by the name of Kin. Kin was wise, attentive to detail and demanded perfection of Akalis. His training was grueling, though incredibly sincere regardless. Akalis spent much of his time focusing on his technique with the lightsaber. At the end of the day, he was left to meditate, study the history and codes of the Jedi, and reflect on the day's proceedings before turning in and preparing for another long day. Apart from the training, Akalis and Kin were dispatched on assignment. Primarily bereaucratic and diplomatic endeavors. However, it was rare these assignments were without some meager form of trouble. It was here Akalis was able to partake in learning how to uphold justice in the galaxy, observing and following Kin's explicit examples.
At the age of 15, Akalis and Kin were dispatched to Nal Hutta, the Smuggler's Moon, to participate in negotiations concering a shipment of goods that were intercepted and stolen. These goods were property sanctioned by the Jedi and en route to an outlying system in need of aid during a civil war taking place on its surface. Upon arrival, things went from bad to worse. The negotiations were cut short due to an ambush and attempted kindapping. The Hutts were moreso inclined to relinquishing the goods in favor of holding a pair of Jedi for ransom. A far better way to land considerable monetary gain. The end result was a violent and unforgiving engagement. The battle resulted in Kin sustaining a mortal wound. There were more than just greedy slugs and bounty hunters. A lone Sith assassin also played his hand and attacked the Jedi when they were weak. Kin was struck down and murdered. Akalis had his arm severed and was bested by the seasoned assassin. The Sith left the boy to die. He was on the homeworld of the Hutts, gravely injured, his master slain before him, and with that, there would be hell to pay as the Hutts still wanted their hostage, but not without having their revenge in the process.
The Jedi were aware of the negotiations and the location in which they were to take place. However, it took five days before help arrived. During that time, Akalis was tortured, beaten, starved and forced to lie in a cramped cell with the corpse of former master--gazing into his cold, dead eyes--forced to relive the images of him being cut down. All the while staving off the pain of the bruises and cuts he had taken at the hands of his captors. The day of his rescue, the Jedi sent on the rescue mission found Akalis near death. What they found was a boy who had been broken, a boy that had fought bravely and won by surviving the ordeal, but lost a monumental piece of his life in the process. His master was dead. His captors scarred him brutally, burning his torso with blow torches, turning to his face, blinding him and scarring him permanently so that he may never forget the events that transpired.
Akalis was eventually taken back home at his request after receiving intensive medical treatment and having the cybernetic limb attached. He wanted to see the plains and mountains of Nubia again as a carthartic means of healing. The Jedi would be ready for his return to duty upon the return of his health. He stayed there for three months. In those months, he slowly began to rekindle and strengthen his connection with the Force. His practiced his forms, he meditated. He returned to old holocrons left in Kin's passing as means to grieve and ultimately learn from his master posthumously. These holocrons proved to be a shortlived experience however. Akalis began to seethe and let his emotions become him. He wanted vengeance. He wanted the assassin to pay for their crime--to pay for taking away his master. It was not soon that Jedi teachings and codes he so faithfully studied seemed pale in comparison to what he truly wanted. It began to create a deep internal dissonance. His Jedi brethren were well aware of the stirring emotions within Akalis, as they could sense a potent disturbance surrounding the boy.
On his appointed last day on Nubia, three of his Jedi brethren arrived by transport to gather him and take him back to the Order. However, when they arrived, all they found were his distraught parents and an empty bedroom. Akalis had disappeared without word or warning. His father's starship had been reported missing in the hangar earlier that day, the security guard having no recollection of what happened, having obviously been mind tricked to ignore the trespass. These chains of events set off several alarms in the minds of his Jedi brethren. It was troubling, though they were confident he couldn't be far. Despite their confidence, the ship's signal had been lost because the transmitter had been removed and left in the hangar bay. Akalis did not want to be found. He wanted nothing but isolation it seemed.
And now, four years later, he has reappeared in galactic space...
