| DESCRIPTION |
| The Aether DCC-02 is an experimental product of Aether Systems with an initial idea to create a droid cargo craft that could be deployed alongside the manned Aether MC-19 during mining and salvage operations. These craft are autonomous, self-piloting vessels controlled by an integrated Fondor Droid Mod linked directly to a central computer with access to all onboard systems such as Navigation, Propulsion, and control of the onboard Beamdrill. This automation allows these crafts to be preprogrammed with set routes, tasks, and objectives without any need for oversight or an onboard crew to maintain control. However, this automation comes at a cost, with these vessels being more susceptible to Ion-based weaponry or EMP-based strikes that can render the craft inert - shutting it down or turning the craft into a heap of slag - depending on the damage dealt. Due to their utilization in a purely non-combat role, these craft do not come equipped with any form of arsenal and remain entirely unarmed as a direct result of the intended use to assist in the hauling of cargo and recovery of salvage. Likewise, there is no means to easily install after-market modifications - such as weaponry - without disassembling the entire craft and putting it back together, making such a task arduous and costly to accomplish. However, due to the exact nature of its work, these craft are known to be hardy, and are equipped with reinforced hulls and additional defensive measures, while also being noted as capable of achieving rapid acceleration at Sublight speeds and able to execute rapid maneuvers - if programmed with the requisite piloting programming. The oddest occurrence, which has been noted multiple times, has been the development or emergence of personalities within the integrated droid brain that can be described as ranging from 'prissiness' to 'sassiness' when communicating with organic technicians. Because of this, it has become highly recommended that these craft undergo routine and regular memory wipes to prevent such personalities, as they have been known to interfere with the regular work often carried out by these vessels. These crafts are only just beginning to reach the market, and it is hoped that when deployed alongside crewed Aether MC-19s, they will provide the needed assistance to rapidly mine for resources and recover vital salvage from those salvage yards that are becoming filled with derelicts from the continued hostilities across the Galaxy. With each of these crafts being equipped with manipulator arms, welding torches, and a beamdrill - their tasks are straightforward - collect salvage, haul cargo, and be mindful that they don't crash into each other or another vessel lest they end up in the very salvage yards they're working. |
