"Inside is where the real distortion lies!"
BASIC INFORMATION

REAL NAME: Roman I’west
FACTION: Former Black Sun Operative
RANK: None
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 34
SEX: Male
HEIGHT: 6ft 1in
WEIGHT: 178lb
EYES: One grey, one brown
HAIR: Medium black
SKIN: White
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes

---------------------------------------------

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

STRENGTHS:

+ Very adept at map reading, navigating and space travel from flying with the Black Sun and plotting courses across the stars

+ If able to blend with a crowd, he is brilliant at stealth kills – using his surroundings and his stiletto blade to do the job quickly and quietly

+ Resilient and a fighter – the Force helped his immune system repel the plague and his healing is a strong asset to him, with his yearning to survive and recover

WEAKNESSES:

- Infected by a plague – with the weak right eye already a setback, it also affects his respiratory system and can certainly weaken him in a fight if he is up against it.

- Closed off from society and is a recluse; introverted and quietly anxious about people and new situations he isn’t prepared for; such as the Force awakening inside him.

- Emotionally wrecked, losing most of what he wanted to build and left a disfigured loner with a bitter score to settle against Lazareth and those who deem him a threat

---------------------------------------------

FORCE ABILITY:

- Telekenesis (Push, Pull, Throw, Choke) [Novice]
- Mindform (Fear, Persuasion) [Novice]

---------------------------------------------

WEAPON:

Black Sun Stiletto Blade. This is a dagger with a long, slender blade and needle-like point which reduces friction upon entry for a deeper, more fatal penetration into the enemy. It is carried on his side with a slender black grip to be used as a stabbing weapon rather than a duelling one.

APPEARANCE:

Standing at 6”1, Roman’s height adds to his opposing stature. He is by no means strong or physically threatening to look at, but combined with his overall appearance, he builds a reputation surrounded by mystery and fear, knowing it can be a powerful ally to those that fear what they don’t understand.

Handsome and well-groomed he may be, but this is overlooked due to the thin, ivory iron-plated mask covering the diseased and mutilated right side of his face. It is tight on his skin, fixed there by his broken flesh and muscle causing him constant discomfort, and tiny crimson scaring can be seen above his lip and under his eye socket behind the mask.

He wears a black thermoguard bodysuit with a white vest underneath making him difficult to pin-point to thermal scanners, but also helping maintain a comfortable temperature and allow him a good deal of movement. Over this he wears a traditional dark crimson Corellian spacer vest to help carry any small supplies he has. Whilst on the move he wears a charcoal greatcoat, coming down to his knees and housing two deep pockets internally by his sides. Leather gloves are worn to cover as much skin as possible due to the plague he was infected with.
Roman carries a small stiletto blade by his side.

BIOGRAPHY:

Roman was born on Corellia, 803ABY, in the small mountain city of Bela Vistal in the southeast mountains. His parents, Peta and Sindel, were not rich or poor, but comfortable enough to live well and provide for their son as he grew in a peaceful environment. With stunning views of the capital city down below and tranquil surroundings, Roman enjoyed his youth in Bela Vistal with a steady education and lots of exploration of the area with his father and cultural teachings by his mother. He took up sword fighting lessons in his later years of schooling as well as studying Galactic History and was a smart young boy, gradually turning into a well-respected young man.

He found out he was Force sensitive, and at first was excited at such a venture, but soon heard of the tales of Jedi and Sith and opted to not use his ability in that way, trying to silence the Force within and not explore it more than he had to. He wanted to be his own man, not a Force warrior.

When he was 17, his father was killed in a climbing accident in the surrounding mountains. Sindel had to convince Roman that there would have been nothing he could have done were he with him, it was one of the acts that no-one had the power to control. The two supported each other over the years, but Roman was losing his way in life with no father figure to guide him and he became more disconnected with his home life now that it had shattered.

As he turned 19, and with his reluctant mother’s blessing, Roman took what little savings and inheritance he had and left to join CorSec – but secretly had had left to join the Black Sun Crime Syndicate operating in Coronet City to put his frustrations to good use in acting as a “heavy”.

Managing to get into the lower levels of the Black Sun, Roman began his career path and gradually reached the position of bodyguard and escort when he was 23 with evident skills in hand to hand combat, navigation and communications.

The turning point in his life came years into his Black Sun days which he genuinely loved and felt a passion for to feel he was in control of things. Aged 27 he was accompanying a Black Sun lord, Mutatzo, to Utapau in the Outer Rim with the objective of negotiating a new covert trade route with a band of pirates who wanted to strike back at a rising power; the Galactic Alliance, to which the Black Sun would earn in providing the muscle and help wipe out this new power.

The meeting however didn’t go as planned when a number of the “pirates” suddenly revealed themselves as plague bearing freaks – The Scourge. The Scourge worked with the pirates to taken down the Black Sun and take a number of them prisoner, including Roman. The pirates could now operate freely on Utapau without the Black Sun being involved, after striking a deal previously with The Scourge.

The leader, known as Lazareth of Levia, was an infected, plague-riddled figure who was the canvas for open wounds, sores, brittle bones and fungus. A number of the Black Sun operatives died after the plague infected their system, and only two survived – Roman was one of them. In one of the many sinkholes, Lazareth experimented on the victims and held them there for years working for him in alchemy and other menial experimental tasks to support him in his plan to infect the galaxy.

The infection steadily took its toll on Roman. The right side of his face bore the brunt of the sickness, and his skin and muscle decayed; flesh burned and bone cracked. Lazareth grafted an ivory iron mask to his face which the rotten flesh preserved and held to his face as the muscle re-formed and stuck to it. If he tried to take the mask off, it would pull and tear his skin and muscle causing earthly amounts of pain. Bloodshot eyes, wiry dead hair, a weak respiratory system and a weak stomach reduced Roman to nothing but the shell of who he once was.

Lazareth gave him the pet name Aerico, meaning one who is a demon who bears the plague; Roman wasn’t that man anymore. Transported out of the sinkhole of Utapau, Roman – Aerico – was eventually cast out to go and die elsewhere and spread the disease he was riddled with wherever he went. Dumped on the planet Sullust, home of the Galactic Alliance, Aerico continued to struggle with the high sulphur atmosphere on the planet and, as The Scourge took one last look, Aerico staggered into a large cave inside a mountain.

No-one saw him again.

5 years on and Roman I’west was another forgetful name in the history of the galaxy, but the man inside was still alive. But even his mother did not hear from her son after the disaster on Utapau and she simply presumed the worst. She took her own life months later with nothing left to live for.

Using the name Aerico, he was taken in and nursed to health by the Galactic Alliance, the ones he originally wanted to help bring down. He chose to keep the iron mask, covering his untreated disfigurement as a reminder of what he had become. It also hides him away from society and gives him something to hide behind.

He soon began to make a small reputation on outside Alliance space for those willing to pay to have people disappear – he operated as a mole in the Alliance and continued to take control of situations by way of killing for money. He doesn’t see himself as an assassin as such, but a sword used to cut away the plague of the galaxy.

Aerico still waits for the day he can face the freak Lazareth again and get answers why he did what he did, and cull the source of the infection that took away everything he worked hard to make. He holds no allegiance to the law, or to the Light, or the Alliance – and, inside his body and mind, the plague is infesting and corrupting his Force ability to create a very nasty monster ready to emerge from behind the mask…
