Public Adventures at Ahch-To [DM for invite]

[Orys Starwind]

Ahch-To. Famed for it's place in history- specifically, as the site of the first Jedi Temple, the genesis of the Order- it compels a certain type of person to explore. Some are pilgrims, seeking truth. Others are explorers, seeking knowledge. And, of course, there are raiders, seeking plunder.

It is this backdrop, where we find the protagonists of this tale...

Orys Starwind, Matukai, was enjoying Ahch-To. The Korun was currently sitting on a perilously small ledge overlooking a vast ocean, meditating. Orys, fresh from a perilous task- freeing slaves in Mandalorian Crusader-held territory- was centering himself; after all, the balance of the spiritual and physical was the cornerstone of Matukai philosophy. And a place like Ahch-To- a world strong in the Force, but relatively off the beaten path- was perfect for mediation.

That, and a little exploration. Galaxy's a big place.

Starwind's thoughts were interrupted, as he heard...something. He turned around.

"Anyone there?"

Naestra tramped along her way, her armor making her less than silent as she made her way through the Rocky Mountains of Ahch To. She had come here from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to learn, learn things that one couldn’t learn on Corsucant.

She loved the libraries and archives of the temple, but she loved studying in the field just as much. And this was the perfect opportunity.

She was marching along, not a care in the world when someone spoke up from nearby. And made her jump in sudden fright with a squeak.

“H-hello?” She called out, scanning the surrounding area for the one who had spoken. “Who’s there?”

Orys opened his eyes, got up, and stepped away from the ledge, turning around to take in the figure approaching with a glance. Tall, humanoid being- female, and Sephi, if the ears were any indication. Armored. Armed with a...halberd? Very similar to his convertible bo-staff/wan-shen.

Oys wasn't quite sure what the woman's intentions were, but he didn't come to Ahch-To looking for a fight, so he wouldn't start one.

Not that he was necessarily opposed to fighting- the woman looked strong!

Breaking a smile, he walked up to the Sephi woman, stopping just short of her. No need to invade her space, after all.

"Hey there! Orys Starwind, Matukai Adept...and pilgrim I suppose. Well a pilgrim, and a explorer. But in this galaxy aren't we all explorers? And technic-"

Realizing he was rambling, Orys laughed, putting his hands on the back of his head.

"Sorry, got a bit ahead of myself. What's your name, traveler? What brings you here?"

Naestra’s halberd stood taller than she, and was definitely reminiscent, perhaps even inspired by, the wan-shen used by the Matukai. Besides that she carried with her a sword at her left hip, and wore armor of Sephi design. Her head however did not have the helmet covering it, letting her features be seen easily.

“Matukai?” She asked curiously, her initial nervousness vanishing the moment her scholarly curiosity was piqued. “Well it’s a pleasure to meet you Orys. I am Naestra, Jedi Knight and Scholar. I’ve read some books and writings on the Matukai but sadly haven’t read much. In fact I owe your people for the inspiration to make this.” She hefted the halberd, confirming that she did indeed find the inspiration from his own people’s weapon of choice.

“As for what brings me here… you could say a pilgrimage of my own. There are a number of sites on this planet relating to the ancient Jedi, whom at the time we Je’Daii, and I came to study them. I have a fascination with the ancient ways and make it a point to learn all I can.”

Orys beamed, resisting the urge to inspect the halberd. "Indeed, that's a fine-looking weapon ya got there." Then, he paused, blinking at her as he processed her prior statement.

"Exploring the sites, huh? Make sense. I just come here to, you know, meditate, but exploring makes with, you know", he trailed off, gesturing to the grandeur and splendor of Ahch-To.

"Where you planning on going specifically, and mind if I tag along? This all sounds so...exciting!"

“I’m glad you think so.” She said with a grin. “It isn’t quite the same as your people’s weaponry. And it was largely an experiment that just happened to go well.”

“Just to the various temples to see what can be found. If there’s any information to glean from them. Any texts that were missed or incorrectly translated.” She said with a nervous smile. “And sure. If you want to join me I can’t see any reason to say no. If you’re the scholarly type like I am then it shouldn’t be too boring for you.”
