ACS-403 Electromagnetic Shielding
Intent: To modernize Vehicles and Tanks for Combat
Development Thread: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/55760-dont-stop-me/

Manufacturer: ArmaTech Combat Systems and MandalHypernautics
Model: Mk1
Affiliation: ArmaTech Combat Systems
Modularity: No
Production: Mass
Material: Power Generator, Shield Projector, Fused Silicon Quartz Cyrstaline mesh, Annealed Copper wire shielding (Faraday Cage), copper wiring, internal copper screens

Classification: Protection from EMP and Ion Weaponry
Special Features:

  • Grants increased resistance against EMP and Ion Weaponry
Weaknesses:
  • If the hull is penetrated the Resistance is greatly reduced
  • To extensive to modify vehicles, they must include the system from beginning of production
Description:
Utilizing specialized annealed copper lined wiring sheaths on the internal electronics and systems and an Electromagnetic shield based off those used by AT-TEs provides the vehicle with greatly increased resistance to Ion weapons. The sheath acted as a Faraday Cage for the internal wiring to minimize the interference of Electromagnetic Pulses and Ion weaponry, as well as lightning strikes, and electrostatic discharge. Most wiring comes with some form of shielding, however the ACS-403 uses a fuse silicon quartz crystalline mesh to protect the sensitive internal wiring of vehicles from Ion weaponry's effects. The internal core of the wires consist of standard wiring wrapped in a crystalline mesh screen and insulator to protect it from harmful electronic interference. This is covered in an annealed copper shielding, which is again covered in a plastic jacket. This lining can be countered by sustained application of electromagnetic pulses or a rapid barrage of Ion weaponry, though vehicles are able to survive some direct hits from these weapons.

Internal wire mesh screens are placed throughout the interior of the vehicle, creating a conductive enclosure to block electrostatic fields from affecting the wiring within the vehicle. These copper screens however only work properly when intact, and if holes are created large enough, pulses and ion blasts penetrate them far easier, assuming the pulse or blast struck the vehicle in the same general location (IE Left Side). It is not meant to be a fool proof systems, but is simply meant to harden the vehicles against EMP and Ion weapons. If the mesh becomes heavily ionized, by repeated blasts, it becomes completely ineffective, and can even become a detriment following sufficient blasts.

This is to system is designed prevent a single EMP grenade from being able to disable an entire tank, as was common practice in the Clone Wars and to provide support against weapons used in current warfare. The mass of Ion weapons and EMP generators seen in the field required some level of protection that could allow a vehicle to survive being struck without being completely disabled. The main weakness of the system is it requires hull integrity to properly function, so once the hull is breached Ion and EMP pulses may be able to pass through the breach, assuming they strike the area that was punctured.

(Note this grants Immunity to Ion weapons, but is barely a mention)

I did some more research and come up with that, I also reworked the description somewhat.

This is approved, and pending secondary, but be aware that while this acts as a catch-all due to the fact that the faraday cage mesh catches both the EMP and electrical ionized particles, it does not provide complete immunity as stated in the description.
