The ACS-208 is a remake of the ancient, but still in use DUR-24 Wrist Laser made by the BlasTech of the Imperial Era of the Galaxy. Much like the other models in the 208 line, ArmaTech did not simply recreate a known technology, they created their own based off two existing technologies. The Tensor Rifle, scaled down to fit as a Wrist Weapon is known for being deadly and destructive. The weapon functions by emitting rapid pulses of compressed tractor beam waves. The compression of the beams causes the cells in the area struck to burst or the armor to crumple outwards, the damage increasing the longer the connection lasted. The most attractive feature about the weapon is the ability to effect flesh and armor simultaneously, literally pulling flesh through cracks that form in armor as the cells are destroyed by the tensor energy.
The weapon is fairly basic, having been cut down to size and weight it possesses only thirty shots compared to its larger cousins fifty, and has a range of only thirty meters, a bit shorter than the original models. Another detriment is the fairly loud noise the weapon emits when fired, much louder than blasters, comparable to un-suppressed slugthrowers. It is considered viable however due to the damage it causes to organic matter.
