GENERAL INFORMATION
Name: Acknite Moss
Origins:
Roon
Other Locations: This moss can be found in many a hostile environment, as it’s typically the first moss to appear after a large fire burns down a big area. It was another of the original species brought to Caer Badru and studied in totality by Shamira Karuto.
Classification: Moss
Average Growth Cycle: 3-6 months
Viability: Acknite moss can appear in soil, rock, wood, humus, old roofs, sand, and cracks of sidewalks, though it is most prevalent in exposed, compact, mineral, dry, gravelly or sandy soils. It is most typically seen in tropical atmospheres, though it’s ability to grow in seemingly any type of ground means it can be seen in urban environments as well. For it to spread and the spores to reproduce, moisture is needed in the air.
Description: Acknite moss is, at a glance, extremely pretty. The ground that moss is planted in around the tiny stalks are seen contanting light green tufts. The stalks of the moss have a brilliantly red color, ending with a yellow tip that contains a capsule. It is hollow, except for tiny spores that will be released during a reproduction stage.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Average Height: .061 to 0.78 meters.
Average Length: N/A
Color: The tufts of moss surrounding the stalks are light green, stalks are red, and the tips of the stalks are a hollow looking yellow.
Nutritional Value: None
Toxicity: None
Other Effects: None
Distinctions: The most distinct part of this moss is the stalks themselves, as well as how they reproduce. Rarely is moss seen with such a colorful pallet. The red stalks practically glow in the setting sun, while the sun streaming through the stems can reveal their hollow nature. The other distinctive thing about this moss is how it reproduces. When it is time, the hollow tips of the stalks open up and tiny, miniscule bacteria is released into a moisture rich environment, where it will land on practically any surface and start it’s own colony.

Strengths:
Non-allergic: While the bacteria released during it’s reproduction time can lead to some scratchy throats and runny noses, this moss in it’s typical state will not cause those with allergies any sort of discomfort.
Hands off: Nothing really needs to be done with this moss to keep it alive, outside of making sure the environment that it’s planted in is moisture rich for reproduction.

Weaknesses:
Hearty: This moss can live, in the right environment, for up to 10 years. Even after that, the sports in the air that are released can survive an extra 10 years beyond that, meaning this plant is harder to get rid of once it’s taken root for a few years.
Through the fire: some mosses can be gotten rid of with fire, whether that be setting it on fire or completely depriving it of moisture. While that will make it so that Acknite cannot reproduce, this moss can still thrive it extreme temperatures, making it marginally fire resistant.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Being one of the original species of plants that were planted at Caer Bradu after it was discovered on many planets in the Confederacy, that meant that Shamira Kaurto has spent quite a while observing it and it’s reproductive uniqueness. It’s resilience to high temperatures and fire was also something she had a quite enjoyable experience observing, realizing that it could be used in quite fun ways in the future for her research.
