Aboard the Botany Bay

Onboard the Botany Bay, in orbit of Ryloth:

At the Master's invitation, Dune had come aboard her ship for a chance to relax and have a cup of tea. The gardens were a very impressive recreation of previous gardens he remembered from Ossus. With a heavy sigh, he attempted to push away the announcements of Master Korr. In spite of the peaceful surroundings, he was still finding it difficult.

The grass was soft under him as he sipped his tea. It was excellent, a gift from the Twi'leks, fragrant and delicious. Matsu Ike could lay claim to the best tea he'd had. Truly a renneisance woman.

"Master, the recent announcements trouble me greatly. I believe Grandmaster Korr is only driving the wedge deeper. And to entirely bar you from Jedi space..."

He shook his head in disbelief.

Matsu sat there in the garden of the ship. The place was beautiful and made to be peaceful... and she had heard the announcement. It paid to be kind and respectful to gather information and if things were bad warnings could come. She wasn't going to blame the man, he had his agenda. Same as she had but Corvus had spoken with her and before that Iella had spoken with her. She had a past but could do much for the future as finally her eyes opened inhaling the scent of the nysillin flowers all around them. "It is not unexpected, Ryan Korr is a jedi from Kiskla's regime. She wanted only those who served her in charge. It created a rift then that divided the order before. Corvus healed it but old agendas are always going to be present. It is why I am not worried, the jedi have no space anymore. THey separated from the Republic and I have made friends with some of the senators in it. It might not be the cleanest place in the galaxy but they have problems greater then an old woman to worry about." That she had Kay as a friend, Hanna's friends and was able to get a chance to meet with some of the others well showed her that not all within the Republic were lost. THey had sense for themselves and maybe just maybe with the right work things could be put to rest.

Dune sipped at his tea.

"It's a true shame that political agendas are the order of the day."

He studied the plants for a moment, gathering his thoughts.

"He has taken the stance of an extremist. Though he opposes the Sith, he is not so greatly different in his current enterprise. Like the Dark Lords, he deals in absolutes. You follow him or you oppose him."

"That isn't the Jedi way. We are moderates, we seek peace and reconciliation. So our history has always been and so it should remain."

Dune Rhur was very familiar indeed with his Order's past. It inspired him and drove him to push for unity. It also spoke of Jedi not so different from Matsu and Vulpesen. They were not evil, though they had made mistakes in pursuit of justice.

"I'm fearful that this may strengthen the Alliance and allow them to drive back the Sith, but they will go unchecked. They're a military dictatorship which leaves the very real possibility of them becoming as opressive as the Sith Empire."

Matsu was looking at him and sipping the tea she agreed. The jedi were many things but they tried to not deal in absolutes. "He is complicated, it does not help that I am an extremeist when it comes to the jedi. I am also keenly self aware of how damaged I am. I will protect the innocent even if it means my soul will be condemned. It saves more people and I made peace with that. He never liked that my peace means no emotion when told I have killed many in battles between the sith and republic. My men I promised to protect went home to their families and it is how I was protected before. They knew what was happening and got me off world."

Dune let out a long sigh because it was...complicated. What Matsu had done was not ideal in the slightest. But, from a certain point of view, if could be justified. For example, how would allowing the Sith to advance unchecked benefit the greater good through that city? It was like amputating a limb to prevent the spread of gangrene.

"I have read the records of that conflict. What you did was regrettable, and yet, I cannot help but wonder how Kiskla Grayson could believe unjustified. All deaths are terrible things but it prevented even more death and destruction."

"Wars are not ideal situations where everything is cut and dried as she seemed to think."

He took a sip of the warm beverage. It bought him a brief moment of pleasure as he noted the qualities of the tea.

She bowed her head in acknowledgement while some of the jako pups were moving around and she was petting one. "There is wisdom in what you say. War does not always present a clear picture and I hav learned a few things. Regret can cripple the strongest if they let it. I cannot change the past I can only try to atone in the future. Kiskla was wise but she was also of the mind she and those who sat in her inner circle were angels. They didn't see the conflict, the deaths they only cared about reports that they could look at and pick apart. It is something people do, they want to seem better and superior so things they don't do they will find fault in to demean and bring down others even their allies. Corvus and Selena understood the danger in such things and it is why they sought to talk with the people instead of read a report from someone else. Have first hand knowledge over the opinion of someone else."

"That's a dangerous way of thinking, believing that you're infallible. "

He called to the jako pups near him through his mind and also began to scratch under their chins, much their delight.

"A Grandmaster is not a King reading from on high. It reminds me too much of the Emporer reading his dictates."

"For those reasons, I have my misgivings. I will attempt to speak with him though I doubt my words will sway him. I forsee him splitting apart the Order between Alliance supporters and not. I believe, unfortunately, this was his agenda all along."

"I suppose that I should visit Voss and speak to the Masters Heavenshield. My Master Leina is a member of the Coalition and introduced me to several Masters and Knights on Malachor V."

"It is hard not to see that, the way it was handled is what is suspect as there is nothing wrong with joining the other orders to see which ones benefit and fit with you. If he wished to join the Galactic Alliance he could have done it and asked if any wanted to join him. The deception of going through becoming grandmaster to force more just seems shady compared." She said it sitting there tough she looked at him. "Though we could go around and around trying to dicern the motives of another. This is a place of peace and learning how to use the force. The Twilight Sepulcher where we are cocked it a massive and ancient jedi city carved into the face of this moon. Secluded under the jungle and atop large crystal mounds that pulse with the force."

Dune finished his tea before he stood.

"Thank you for your council, Master. Also for the tea."

He rose and made a bow.

"I will go to Voss and speak with the Coalition. I will return here, though. By your leave."

With that, the Bith turned and walked towards his small ship. Off to Voss, then, he thought to himself. The ship was a pleasant place to be, an escape from political intrigues. He'd definitely be back.

Matsu looked at him and boiwed herhead while speaking. "There is a transport heading to Voss from the Silver temple down below on the planet. It is a beautiful temple by the lake in the mountains and the native creatures are quite an interesting collection." More of her attention went o the pups while she was looking over some of the things. The jako beasts and trees they were bringing in as well as the As-Aki who tended the garden were not so bad.
