A Slightly Productive Meeting

Commenor - 849ABY
Presidential Security Office
4.5 months after Korriban
4.5 months after Omega

The room was quite large, plenty of wall monitors and built in table monitors, quite dark though. For it's purpose, it was top of the line. What was it's purpose though? Simply to co-ordinate the defense of Commenor and President [member="Lady Kay"], which is simply what it was in use for today. With the big celebration coming up, the president had hand picked [member="Kei Garnik"], former smuggler turned somewhat Jedi to head up the presidential defense force. What were they defending her from? The returning Hutt Cartel.

It was a just encase moment.

Kei had been productive. He'd taken the name of [member="Lady Kay"]'s current head of security, [member="Veiere Arenais"] and left him a message. The message explained the situation and asked him to meet Kei in the Presidential Security Office. He'd also taken the name of one of [member="Lady Kay"]'s friends, a man known as [member="Ryn'Dhal"] and left the same message. He'd sent out a message to the one and only [member="Noriko Ike"], his girlfriend and someone who would serve perfectly as a guard for a while. Finally he'd recruited a smuggler known as [member="John Shepherd"] in a dodgy cantina on the outskirts of Chasin City, leaving him with a location, time and date. He almost hoped that they would have access to enough trained guards to cover all the weaknesses he'd spotted.

Kei preloaded a map of Chasin City onto the computer monitor while he waited for everyone to arrive. He'd linked every monitor to it, simply for ease of use. He sketched where the president's speech would take place, as well as began to sketch a safe route for the president to take when she went to shake hands and act like she cared for a while. Actually it was [member="Lady Kay"], why would she need to act? Of course she cared, she'd made Commenor great again.

[member="Lady Kay"]

How long had the Knight been there? No one could really tell. The shadows were his friend, and silence his mantle. His Forced signature was suppressed, very much like that of a small tree nut.

[member="Kei Garnik"] would hear the low, soothing tone coming from the darkness, just as that mask moved forth into the low illumination. "Mr. Garnik of clan Raxis?" The figure was not a small one. Standing around six feet in height, with a lean, but solid build, the armored robes and curved lightsaber hilts at his hips hinted at the Force User's potential.

In a quick attempt to dissuade potential hostilities of good sudden arrival, he gave a bow in greeting, allowing the calming sensation of the Light Side to flow from him, his auras suppression released. "I am Knight Ryn'Dhal, kin by choice and privilege to the [member="Lady Kay"]. You summoned me for her benefit, so I am here to aid."

After the exchange of pleasantries, Ryn'Dhal would move to a position where no doors or windows were to his back, and prepared for Kei's presentation. For Kay, there was nearly no limit to whom he'd be willing to work with.

He shook his head. He had nothing to do with Clan Raxis, he was the cousin of many of it's leaders but he wasn't a member of that mess. He wondered how long the man had been there, he hadn't noticed him, but he was busy making presentations. [member="Lady Kay"] had made it clear that she still wanted to be able to interact with the public, so this was going to be difficult. How do you keep someone safe when they mingle with the potential killers?

He gave his own bow of the head towards the male, smiling.

"Not of Clan Raxis but"

He chuckled lightly. His own force signature was still hidden, his own lightsaber however wasn't hidden, he was openly carrying his blade for the first time since it's construction, it fit rather well on his belt. However he still hadn't donned the robes, he needed to go get them repaired actually. Korriban had taken it's toll on them. Korriban had taken it's toll on a lot of things.

Stop thinking about Korriban, now.

"The pleasure is all mine. We need to wait for a few more arrivals before I run down the overall plan, though if you'd like to take a look at one of the main monitors you'll find a reasonable drawing. I thank you for attending this meeting, i'm sure the president will also be gratefuL"

John glanced at the information he had been given by [member="Kei Garnik"] not sure after he arrived at this place, he shrugged off the thoughts and walked in finding the place the meeting was going to be held and opened the doors and scanning the room seeing Kei standing relatively in the center of the room and a tall, masked figure off toward a corner. As he entered he made sure that his dual blaster pistols very apparent until he saw they both had lightsabers. "You've got to be kidding me" he thought in his head as he saw these two. "I thought this would have been a body guard job like back on Nar maybe a little more weird but this?" the smuggler gave up with the intimidation factor and let his trench coat come back down as he walked up to Kei standing a little over the man as he pulled the tooth pick from his mouth to talk to him.

"Well I made it, if that means anything, and you didn't tell me that I would be working with force users. Not that it will be a problem though. I hope whatever we're doing here, I can be of "some" use."

Kei grinned as John entered. He had his plans for the smuggler, the smuggler would very much be of use. That was the issue with many of Kay's contacts, not many of them had ever really worked in the smuggler industry, not like Kei had, John had and in some regards still did. John would be very useful in the plans, John had a special role that wasn't just "sit out of the way and shoot every so often". He'd actually be quite impressed when he saw what he'd get to be doing. Kei grinned again as he talked, nodding towards the smuggler with interest. John was a clever man, him and Kei could get on well.

"In my defense I didn't know either. If you take a look towards the monitors while we wait, you'll my rough sketch of a plan. I'll go into more detail when the others arrive. To conclude I'm glad you could make it, i'm sure the president will be glad you offered your assistance as well"

Whether it was expected or not, Kay stepped into the meeting room, a cup of Sapir tea in one hand and a datapad in the other. Her own Force signature was shrunk down to that of a small tree nut. Not everyone knew of it and she preferred to keep it that way. If this meeting was going on about the Celebrations and where she will be, what she will be doing, then she had every reason to be a part of it.

She bowed her head to [member="Kei Garnik"] , [member="John Shepherd"] and [member="Ryn'Dhal"] . "I hope that none of you mind that I invited myself. Afterall, I am overseeing the Celebrations. I'm not just a figurehead and public speaker." Kay smiled in amusement of herself and sipped her tea. She also knew more about the Cartel and who to look for. Though whether they'd be bold enough to do so was anyone's guess at the moment.

Fancy :p

Kei jumped, clearly not expecting to hear the voice of the president behind him. He turned to her, bowing his head slowly. It'd been a month since he'd last seen his old friend, his best friend, and in a month nothing had changed, other than the president now looked stunning. She'd changed, she had no reason to hide from anyone on Commenor, she was president and people probably adored her. Probably, he didn't know. He was an ex smuggler turned freedom fighter, a real Han Solo type, he wasn't a politician. In all fairness he couldn't be a politician, he'd just get annoyed at everything too easily. He liked action, he loved being hands on, he couldn't handle being stuck behind a desk.

"Madam President, you're most welcome here. Of course this meeting concerns your safety as well as that of the Commenori citizens. At this time we cannot be sure of any Hutt Cartel plans or involvement with anything to do with the celebrations, but we should be on high alert just to be sure"

He offered a polite smile on the end.

"I'll keep tabs on the Cartel in the meantime, if I catch wind of them planning anything madam President, i'll let you know the moment I know. Please be aware however, if the danger level is too high we won't be able to safely play this event without anyone getting hurt"

Keep being polite, this was a formal meeting, not an informal meeting. There was a life on the line in this meeting, Kei wasn't about to let a good friend die.

"I have drawn up quite a few contingency plans to account for any possible outcome, most of which shouldn't lead to the death of yourself, m'lady"

Ryn'Dhal quickly moved to Kay's side, pulling the a seat out for her. That warm smile glowed in those keen eyes, peering through those eye-slits in his mask. "It is good to see you again Kay." The masked Knight stated, that soft, soothing tone filling the air. After she was seated, he'd take his post over her shoulder, before returning his attention to the smuggler. "I hope you do not look upon me in too negative of a light my friend." Mirth was evident in his voice, even if there was no facial expression to read.

Gesturing to his mask, the masked man continued. "Believe it or not, I wear the mask not to intimidate, but to make social interaction less traumatic for myself and others." He brought a finger to where his lips would be behind the mask, contemplatively. "Perhaps, to aid in transparency among those seeking the Madam President's well-being, once all are assembled, I shall remove the mask, to show my hand, so-to-speak." He could sense the distrust in the smuggler. He could also sense a faint flicker. Perhaps sensitivity? Ryn'Dhal would definitely keep a close eye on [member="John Shepherd"], curious as to what may come of that flicker the spacer held within him.

He then knelt next to Kay's seat, looking the woman in the eye. "Do you approve of this?" He asked. His sister's opinion mattered more than anyone elses in this room as far as he was concerned. He then narrowed his eyes at Kei's comment about Kay's death. He would speak no further, but there was no way he'd allow such a thing to come to pass. His last breath would be drawn before then.

[member="Lady Kay"] | [member="Kei Garnik"]

After noticing the President of Comnenor walk in Shepherd knew this was going to be big. As soon as she walked in the large Knight in the corner took action and came right to her side and pulling out her chair. "Leader? No, can't be. Lovers? No not close enough for that, if they were lovers I would have felt a little stronger emotion from her as she walked in. Perhaps they are old friends.... the most logical answer to the question." he though in his head while listening to the knight [member="Ryn'Dhal"] speak. As the man did so the tall smuggler looked at the knight feeling the distrust that the man felt towards him as he pulled a chair opposite the both of them as he glanced at [member="Kei Garnik"] the man who invited him here. The smuggler decided to make some assumptions about the meeting speaking them aloud.

"So being the only odd man out here and seeing that everyone else is more then well acquainted I feel obligated to assume some things, no? First I suppose this whole meeting is revolving around the big event happening? Or is this not as obvious as what it appears to be?"

The smuggler looked at the people in the room his brow slightly raised as if to question them to see if his statement was false.

Kay had to dress well, nearly every day too. One never knows when a dignitary from another world or another government would drop by. It was rather annoying at times, among other sacrifices that she had to make when she was elected. But in the end it would be worth it. Or at least that's what she kept telling herself.

She sipped her tea while [member="Kei Garnik"] spoke and sat down in the chair that [member="Ryn'Dhal"] had pulled out for her. It was still odd, being treated in such a manner as though she was royalty, when she was only an elected official. But looking to her brother Ryn, she knew that he would treat her the same, no matter what. She'd saved his life a few times over, so of course there was the desire there for him to return the favour. "It's up to you, Ryn, whatever you are most comfortable with."

Her eyes then fell on [member="John Shepherd"] while he spoke and set her datapad on the table while she cradled her tea cup in her hands. "In a way, sir, yes. The Celebration will be going for three days. We are celebrating the opening of the many Embassies that have been established here in Chasin City since I came into office. The first day is for a variety of theatre performances, concerts and fireworks in the evening. The second day is for the parade, air show and charity fundraiser, while the third day is reserved for the food festival and fashion shows, followed by an evening podrace in the centre of the city.

Now I don't expect that the Hutt Cartel plan on killing me. If they wanted to do that, then they would have attempted it already. No, it was never about death. They want to use me, my name and my support to open doors for them that would otherwise be closed. [member="Flannigan Mcnash"] asked for my permission of which he was denied. He claims to already be working to tarnish my name, but how I'm not quite sure. So be on the lookout.

And even though I don't believe that they wish to kill me, that doesn't mean that anyone else is safe. The Jackals and the Cartel will kill innocents without a thought, especially to prove a point. So be on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary.

I have been told that the First Order will be bringing a heavy military presence with them fir the Celebrations, but keep in mind that it's just for show and in case anyone tries to cause trouble. Their priorities are for their own people first. Everyone else cones second. This is a peaceful event. Let's just hope that it stays that way...

...Any questions or comments so far?"

Kay had another sip of her tea, wondering if [member="Veiere Arenais"] was coming as well, or if he had important matters to tend to. There was plenty on his plate already and he already knew what she was going to say here today. He was just being sure that every venue and guard were vetted for any threats, perceived or otherwise.

He was rushed, this was not like Veiere though moving to step passed those of the facility in true stride, his robe caped the floor at his ankles with every hastened step he took, rounding the corner and nearing the entrance to the Security Divisions main office; fashionably late was the polite way of saying that he'd gotten himself in over his head dealing with what Kay had considered the 'smaller' matters of the public delegation assisting the new embassies in setting themselves up. Naturally everyone had a reason to complain about something. From the space and overall size of their embassies to the location and the humid air that flooded the lungs in a good heat yet all passive aggressive notions of disgruntlement had thus far been pushed to the side and reminded that there were more important factors for Kay's own team to worry about than dealing with petty arguments of the sort; Veiere had since stepped in as a mediator and aided in sweating the small stuff one might say. Now however, he had a meeting of an entirely different kind and far more fitting to his nature.

"Apologies" He spoke as he pushed the door open swiftly yet not without control, he seemed somewhat flustered and had to do his best to curb his frustrations for the more high-maintanence sort of people that he had been dealing with; "I realize I'm late, other business had my ear quite unfortunately...". He bowed to all within the room before standing upright and inhaling as if to slowly catch his breath. Only then however did his eyes land on [member="Lady Kay"] and his head lifted in a half nod, both surprised and welcoming of the sight, "M'lady" he spoke formally as they were in the presence of others before looking across the group in patient study. [member="Ryn'Dhal"] was the first to take in, a curious looking figure though not a far-cry from many other Jedi that Veiere had come across, the mask as well as the hood was often the case for those following the path of the Guardian and Sentinel, Vanguard and Scouts of the former Order. Offering a brief nod, it was difficult not to notice the strength in the figures aura, gifted and well trained. [member="John Shepherd"] Sheperd he didn't recognize either though it didn't earn the middle-aged male a brief smile and a nod in individual greeting as well. Finally he looked ahead to [member="Kei Garnik"] and brought his hands to his back, his left holding his wrist and shifting his form to stand atease; "I do hope I've not missed anything crucial" he spoke to Kei knowing through Kay Larr that this was a man of whome she'd contacted personally. Perhaps his aid might help shift the work load so that Veiere could move between Kay's needs without forsaken one duty for another.

Ryn'Dhal scrutinized the scoundrel a few moments longer, before nodding to the information Kay shared. It would be most likely innocents that would be targets, more so than Kay herself. An abduction of the President shouldn't be ruled out, but it was less likely than in times past. The door burst open at that moment, snapping Ryn from his thoughts. He'd nod in greeting to the new Jedi to enter. "I do believe the actual strategy meeting has yet to begin." The masked Knight stated, before reaching up to his helmet. A snap, followed by the hiss of the pressure releasing from the helmet, Ryn'Dhal removed the covering, before setting it down upon the table near Kay.

Large, independently moving ears flicked about, as if stretching from their cramped confines of the helmet, as keen, golden eyes adjusted to the direct lighting of the room. A faint shake of his head given, as the pressure variance took a moment to get used to. He'd remove gloves, and take the seat next to Kay on her left, laying his gloves next to his helmet. Seated so, without the covering, Kay would likely be able to note a freshly acquired scar upon the feline-humanoid's brow.

He shifted his attention between the three others in the room, an ear, or his eyes, on any one of them at any moment, his ears moving about, reorienting independently of the other. A very useful tool, especially when it came to playing the shadowed guardian. Finally, his eyes fell upon [member="Kei Garnik"], a friendly smile upon that feline face. "Do we know how many more we wait for, Mr. Garnik?" He inquired politely, padded fingers making muted drumming noises upon the table, before relaxing back into his seat, tail uncurling and lolling over one of the right armrest lazily. To any who were not aware of the close bond Kay and Ryn shared, his proximity to her could be confused for something other than sibling-devotion. He owed her much, a life-debt if it came to it, but they were family, and such archaic exchanges were not needed between them.

[member="Veiere Arenais"] | [member="Lady Kay"] | [member="John Shepherd"]

"I was expecting one more, but we shall begin without"

He crossed his arms behind his back, smiling likely. He'd planned for every possible outcome, he'd planned for everything The Hutt Cartel might do. He had contingency plans for an abduction of the president, contigency plans for public disturbance, contigency plans for attempted assassination. He didn't believe they would attempt an assassination, much like Kay had said they only wanted to tarnish her name, not kill her. She was so much more useful alive than dead. It was also true that The Cartel would kill to disturb people, they didn't care about life, they were simply low life criminals, plain and simple.

"I've personally looked over every single event and planned what I believe to be the best course of action to provide safety to the president and the people of Commenor. If any of you feel like you have better ideas, feel free to interupt me. I personally don't believe that The Cartel will attempt anything on the first day of celebration, I don't see them doing anything during theatre or concerts. However, the second day is the perfect target. Everyone will be outside and it will be the perfect chance to cause some mayhem, blame it on the president and get out before they get discovered, caught or otherwise.

I've been assured that the guards will be present every day of the event, yet I believe that the second day is when we want to increase security to the max. With the president out in the open all day there will be plenty of opportunity to abduct her or cause mass panic and blame her. I've established that the second day is when we should all be involved within the guards. Mr [member="Ryn'Dhal"] and Mr Arenais, I was hoping that you two would join our president throughout the day, her own personal guard. You two are the one's she seems to trust more than anything and I believe you two would be the best candiates. You two are hopefully going to be there to keep the president safe, I don't believe that The Cartel will attempt an abduction but I wouldn't put it past them if everything else fails.

Mr Shepherd and I will simply be blending in. We'll be acting like normal off world citizens on the planet, enjoying the celebration. We'll have our ears open however, listening for anything out of the ordinary, anything that will put the Comenori or the president at risk. The moment we detect something, we'll call it in. When we do, the first priority must be getting the president to safety, even though I assume she'll resist"

He eyed Lady Kay quickly, grinning.

"Should anything happen, we all need to regroup on the president. Once we can be sure the president is safe, we'll move her into the presidental mansion with armed guards before heading out to assess the situation. Should the situation be serious, we'll move the guard and ourselves in to secure the suspects, otherwise the president should be fine to head back out into the celebrations."

"Any questions or any other, better ideas?"

Leaning in to listen to [member="Kei Garnik"]'s presentation on the security that they would be having taking note on everything he was saying just in case it became important during the fact. Calculations and scenes of what he would be doing flashed through his head as he listened to his part a little more intensely then the rest of the speech. He noted his action of blending in and started making arrangements in his head of what he would bring wear and any other needs. But, before he opened his mouth he had an after thought, Felix, he might want to bring him up to Kei just in case his droid could be of any use to the team.

"On that note, I actually do have someone that can help and I promise he can be of great use, and is loyal to death, literally. My droid Felix is the perfect droid for making sure that no one has a chance to take any.... unwelcoming moves or shots at the president. It is a HK unit but it's programmed to follow my every command and I will praise it, very well. I suggest putting him on a balcony or high vantage spot to be able to view the crowd from above to keep an eye on everything at once. I would recommend his presence but it's all up to you Kei if you want him in, or if I should leave him on the Katana."

He glanced around the table, looking for any suggestions to his offer, to him what he proposed didn't seem unreasonable and Felix was more then a valuable resource, that droid has saved his life more then he could count, and he knew what ever job needed to be done that it could get it done with maximum efficiency.

[member="Ryn'Dhal"] | [member="Veiere Arenais"] | [member="Lady Kay"]

[member="Kei Garnik"] was rather well prepared, it was encouraging to say the least. Looking over to spare a glance to [member="Lady Kay"] at the mention of his and [member="Ryn'Dhal"]'s standing guard at her side, he turned back to nod to Kei in silent confirmation that he was indeed good with all that had been laid out; truth was that he'd been doing exactly that since he came out of exile back on Alzoc Three, it was what Kay Larr had brought him on board to do and the best way that he could offer his services up to her in means of keeping her safe. Having another likely Jedi alongside the pair of them for the ride only added to the prospective good that they could do in the off-chance that the Hutt Cartel did try to pull something. As [member="John Shepherd"] mentioned the HK droid, Veiere turned to listen attentively. He wasn't at all the highest authority on most things technological. Not because he couldn't but more so because he had a deep love for all things living and in his time serving under the Order he had steered his path in the opposite direction to focus on the philosophy of the Force and how it bound the living together; a former scholar rather than a tech-savy sentinel. As far as he was concerned, the more help they had then the better their chances. Though the Hutt Cartel wasn't his primary concern either.

Having spoken in private with Kay on a number of times, he wasn't sure how much trust to place in the Mandalorians; that they might not see it all as an opportunity to gate crash and raise hell. On the other hand, the additions of both the First Order and the Silver Jedi Order brought both promise and yet at the same time offered risks in themselves, both being on opposite ends of alignment and bureaucracy. Following Kay however, with the way that things were going and their intent to become a possible mutual ground for all willing governing bodies, this was the way of their business now; the whole point of the embassies, to close the gap and empower communication and mutual discussion to avert conflict and deter any possible violence between them. It was a far stretch and they weren't always going to be successful yet being realistic, Veiere wondered what else aside from the Cartel, lay in wait around the corner for them all.

Kay looked to the door as [member="Veiere Arenais"] stepped in. She smiled and bowed her head to him in greeting. It was good that he showed, late or not. Besides being her bodyguard and friend, he was also her advisor. He had a different way of thinking that she admired.

Her eyes were then drawn to [member="Ryn'Dhal"] as he removed his mask and gloves. Despite the growth spurt that he had recently, his facial features never lost any of his youthful charm. She gave him a small smile, indicating her acknowledgement of the trust that he was giving everyone in the room.

And then [member="Kei Garnik"] spoke of his plan. She smirked at him while he spoke of her resisting. Of course she'd resist. But....she understood their reasoning behind it all too. Kay didn't approve of being locked away under heavy guard if things went downhill, but if it meant that Veiere and Ryn were to be there with her, then that would make it a little bit tolerable.

Kay turned her attention to [member="John Shepherd"] as he talked of an HK unit. Hmmm. That could be a good thing, so long as no one hacks into his programming. Yet as far as she knew, no one in the Cartel was that technically saavy.

"If it ever comes down to it,I will do my best to comply and not resist being tucked away. Hopefully, it'll never get that far." But with large events like these, anything and everything could happen.
