A Simpler Life

Kevaal's Club was one of the finest drinking and dining establishments of the Entertaintment District, mostly known for the chaotic activity that occurred within its walls, the unsavoury clientele that it attracted, as well as the drinks mixed by Kevaal himself, who was its owner and bartender.

The chaotic atmosphere produced by the clientele was augmented by the music (or noise, depending on how one looked upon it) emanating from the instruments of no less than six bands that played at once. Stairways lined the ridged sides of the club, leading to gambling rooms and lodgings in the upper levels.

Unruly patrons were by and large tolerated, but if one could not pay for a mess that was created, then they would be ejected from the establishment by large bouncer droids.

Ar'ekk enjoyed places like this one, specially when the owner knew you by name and offered you free drinks. He couldn't pass over such offer which is why he enjoyed a good ale with a cancer stick to make things a little more "sweet".

Live Fast. Die Young. Bad Girls Do It Well.

That's not a mantra Atara would have advised anyone to live by. She wasn't sure it was even a mantra. Sounded more like a poor life decision made in some tattoo shop on Zeltros. Multiple bad choices made on multiple trips, but who's counting. It wasn't a sustainable long term lifestyle, but in spurts, she could has her fun.

What other reason would a model citizen (pun intended) of sophisticated Alderaani society have to be caught dead in Kevaal's if not to have fun. She didn't exactly think herself above the clientale here, but Alderaani typically held themselves with a better degree of dignity. Atara could imagine the Queen doing a Waltz, bouncin dat booty on a bar top...not so much.

Who knew, after a few drinks when inhibitions where left under a table along with the heels, anything was possible. You needed drinks though and currently she had none. Objective A was the bar and between her and a possible night of debauchery was a huddled mass of club goers.

Weaving, squirming, light shoving, and polite excuse me's where all tools used in navigating the crowd. It was a hot and sweaty venture that included a few instances where she came close to catching flailing elbows to the face. Gods forbid, her money maker was in that general area.

Eventually Atara made it, with no incidents at that. Could have been sooner, but there was a moment one band dropped the bass and naturally, when it drops...ya know.

All smiles, a slightly overwhelmed Atara Themis leaned casually on the counter top amidst another crowd altogether. Like a stock exhange, thirsty patrons were shouting drinks and doing there best to be the next to catch a tenders attention. It was a situation where some force persuasion would have been handy.

"Grab the next servor that comes by and drinks are me?" By grab, she meant literally. It may not have been the best solution, but the guy the question posed looked like he could handle it. Besides, it wouldnt be her getting tossed if it caused an issue.

Life was good. Easy jobs, regular pay, a reliable crew. But things went south and Ar'ekk had to drop off the grid. Put a bullet in the past and start fresh somewhere new. The promise of opportunity and anonymity drew him to Lithios, the perfect place for a savvy netrunner to disappear and begin anew.

As the music rattled on, he was lost in thought. Old memories creeped, unbidden, to the forefront of his mind. Memories of the old days, and the crew that he used to run with. Memories of success and failure, of wealth and poverty, of good times and bad.

All of the sudden he was jolted out of his reverie by a strong prod on his arm, turning his head to the side to clash steamy glances. A woman who wanted drinks. He smiled to her, resting his palm on the shoulder of a waiter so he could whisper into their ear due to the obnoxious loud music blasting at impressive decibels and making it impossible to have a normal conversation. Nodding off, the waiter walked away to the bar after a brief chat.

One minute later, the same waiter returned with two glasses and a bottle of the most expensive beverage available in the club. His intention wasn't to show off his wealth or act as he had some sort of status but instead enjoy a good drink with a stranger.

It wasn't a common thing to do but what was really normal on Ethos City nowadays?

"I got you, no worries." He said as he filled both of their glasses, grinning from ear-to-ear.

A drink doesn't hurt anyone.

Impressive. Most impressive. If Atara was to be honest however, the mind trick thing would have blown her mind. Not that she was going to complain, a free drink was a free drink no matter how she got it.

Matching Ar'ekk's grin, gloss pink lips curled into her own and she momentarily locked gazes with him while sliding the proffered glass close to herself.

"Thank you," she replied with as sweet as possible and with a heavy Alderaani accent before washing down a moderate sized gulp.

"You going to be here awhile? I could use that trick later" she joked offering a hand out. "Atara Themis."
