I had a - at least in my opinion - good idea dawn on me today, upon returning from my Leave and trying to see what's changed about the map. I can't really open it as it stands because it's thousands of pixels in each direction. Now, for some of us, we have really bad internet... or somewhat flaky wifi that is in and out... or sometimes access from a mobile device or free public signal that may not have the power a desktop pc has/the bandwidth of a personal landline. I'm surprised I didn't think of this before, as even then, on certain machines the map can take a second or two to fully load top to bottom.
We get a thumbnailed version of the map!
Now, it's really not all that hard at all, so that shouldn't even be claimed to be any sort of issue. It's as simple as save the unformatted version. Then Scale and save it again as a thumbnailed version. It takes maybe two minutes extra, and on top of it, some software can resize an image DURING the saving menu (IE: Just ctrl+s and get straight to it in the save options).
Maybe something like 600x600? Or by whatever it's smaller length is? It would not have to be posted, just a link under the full scale link that says Thumbnail Version or something beside/on it. This would help greatly, as I know personally it is almost impossible to view the map, sometimes actually impossible at times. I personally know I don't like waiting ten+ minutes for a several dozen megabyte map to load, or however large it may now be.
What do you think guys?
