Ultimatum
Duranium Lord
Having completed their initial training in the Force, Upari and Ultimatum had been searching for other masters to train them in other fields of interest. The Shard and the droid who housed him had been taught somewhat advanced abilities for their padawan training and had forgone the more conventional skills that were usually taught to new Force users. The duo believed themselves to have been up to the challenge and to have succeeded, a conviction strengthened by their master's stating they were no longer padawans. Nonetheless, they were under no illusion that they had finished their learning and training. In fact quite the opposite, now that they had a taste of the strange and almost mystical Force, there was a thirst within them. Ultimatum, in particular, was looking to learn whatever they could, no matter what affiliation if had. The droid did not constrict himself with the religious beliefs of other Force users, seeing it as a restrictive policy that protected organics from the weakness associated with their emotions. While he and the Shard did experience emotions, though in his case they were merely facsimiles created by his programs, there was greater control over them. Therefore Ultimatum did not believe it was necessary to be quite as careful as organics in delving into the Force's darker corners.
As of yet though, the two had only been taught by Jedi, and it seemed to be evident that it would continue to be so. It was convenient then that his interests lay in abilities that Jedi were likely to know. In particular, he had learned of this Jedi Master, [member="Leina Snowfire"], through his searching the Jedi databases. There was not a lot of information for him to go on, but enough to suggest that she might be a teacher for Upari. The Shard had reservations, somewhat uncertain if there could ever be a master akin to their previous one. The issue mainly lay in the format; their master had taught with a heavy emphasis on science and the mathematical breakdown of Force capabilities. That was an approach that was uncommon, at the very least, for most Force users. Yet at the same time, Upari wanted to learn from a more mystical perspective, to further understand the different sides of the same coin.
Ultimatum had taken the liberty of sending a message to the prospective master, explaining their interest in learning from her and requesting that they visit. Her being a Silver Jedi and Ultimatum being based on the other side of the Sith Empire, the droid and Shard had tried to pick a common ground that would hopefully be close enough for the Jedi to find easily accessible. They had decided on the world Saleucami, and sent the coordinates to the Jedi, with a meeting place in one of the major cities.
That was where they waited, in a small, somewhat cramped in fact, spaceport restaurant. Ultimatum had taken a seat facing out the windows, granting him a relatively broad view of the walkway beyond. Surprisingly, it was not too busy, perhaps a bad season for tourists.
"Probably the only reason we haven't been asked to leave." Ultimatum's thought was transferred to the Shard via the links that held their minds together.
"True, but it might also be that they are waiting to see if we have some owner coming to pick us up. Perhaps they are intimidated." The Shard's mental response arrived almost instantly after.
Looking down at his metal body, shorter than most organics by a good foot and in a relaxed position of sitting, Ultimatum wondered what kind of person would be scared of him. "For the best, they could beat us in a physical fight anyways, if they decided to evict us that is."
"Let's not get started on the fighting already. We don't do that." Upari reproached the younger droid.
"You don't. I don't now. I might have before." Ultimatum replied.
The Shard attempted to change the subject, somewhat wearied with the droid's obsession with a past he couldn't remember, "Let's see if she shows. Then we can put this behind us."
"For now." The robot knew that someday he would have to deal with these questions. He would discover what the older Ultimatum had done before disappearing.
