Jonyna had already told her in text, at the least, that she would be staying on Ukatis for a few months. A few could mean 2, it could mean 10. It was only a matter of time before Val came to investigate the truth of the matter.

Jonyna didn't want to lie to her, but she was always always one for dramatics. It was in her blood, something she got from her mother.

Part of her feared that it would be passed down to her kittens. She knew it would.

Come by Ukatis when you can. I'll be on the Reaper, just outside of the Capital. Overseeing a field being replanted for the first time since the attack, but I need to talk to you in person Val.

~ Jonyna

It was all she could tell her. Val needed to hear it from her in person.

It was probably just nerves that had prevented her from admitting it, right?

The soft hum of Valery's ship settled as it touched down near the Reaper, engines cooling in the crisp Ukatis air. The fields beyond were in transition, scarred earth slowly stitched with new green, a quiet defiance against what had once torn through it. She stepped out into the open, her boots finding soft ground, and the scent of soil and recent rain filled her senses.

Valery exhaled slowly, gaze scanning until she spotted the familiar ship. She knew something was different. Had felt it even before she'd stepped onto the planet. But she hadn't pressed through the comms. If Jonyna wanted to talk in person, then Valery would give her that.

Approaching the ship, she found the ramp already down. Valery stepped up and inside, her presence calm but attentive. She didn't call out right away. Let the quiet fill the space between them until finally, her voice reached forward, warm and curious.

"You're lucky I like mysteries," she said gently, rounding the corner until Jonyna came into view. "Now are you going to tell me what's going on, or should I guess?"

She tilted her head, half teasing, half serious.

But then… something shifted.

Her eyes softened. Her stance changed slightly, less question and more recognition. Valery's senses stretched, touched something unmistakable, nestled deep within the woman before her. A small, flickering presence.

A new life.

Her smile bloomed slow and certain.

"Oh," she said quietly, not needing to ask now. "Jonyna… you're not alone, are you?" There was no judgment in her tone. Only affection and wonder.

It didn't take a jedi master to know what had caused Val's tone to shift. Really, she had expected it.

"Not anymore. I'm finally paying for all my fooling around." Jonyna said, sitting on the couch of her ship's living area. She looked much more tired than Val had ever seen her, the peppy redhead that had grown accustomed to the jedi temple's halls now reduced to a tired woman stuck on the couch. "Was only a matter of time, I guess. You wanna help me figure out names?"

It was a simple question, but one Jonyna knew came with an amount of trust that a mother would only ask of someone they trusted deeply.

HAIuSyi.png
"Ah, so not sure who the father is, I take it?" She knew of Jonyna's little adventures, so she might have slept with too many different men to be sure. Unless the baby was of a very specific species, she supposed...

Either way, that was none of her business unless Jonany wanted to talk about it.

"I can help with names," she said with a smile. "Do you already know if it's a boy or a girl? Or do you want names for both, so you're set regardless of gender?"

"Doctor said it'll be two boys and a girl." Jonyna chuckled. "Didn't get lucky, I was a single birth."

Jonyna didn't answer the question about the father, mostly because she didn't want to bring herself to care. She didn't really remember that night, nor did she want to. "I'm gonna try and use Cathar names for them, but I would like some ideas to see if I can't find a good translation. My language is very...poetic, so something like that would be nice."

It was strange. Val had never seen Jonyna this...calm. She was always so extroverted, always moving a hundred miles an hour, ready to tackle the next challenge. Instead, she was almost meditative with every word.

Valery figured that the father was a touchier subject, so she had no issue moving on to something else. Coming up with names and planning for the arrival of a newborn was always one of the most fun things during pregnancy. Certainly a lot more fun than carrying the baby... or three of them.

"Triplets are going to be rough on you," Valery said and chuckled.

"But it is nice as they grow older. They always have siblings their own age to play with." She smiled and thought of her own chaotic bunch. No matter how different they were, the three of them were always very close.

"What are some Cathar names you've been considering?"

"I'm not sure. I was thinking about naming them after my lost siblings."

There was a hint of sadness in her eye, one Val hadn't seen before, but knew without a thought. Being thrust into the future had it's perks, but one of it's downsides was a sense of loss. Losing everyone who you once cherished as they were left behind. "Did you ever have any siblings? I don't think I've ever asked you that."

HAIuSyi.png
"That's a nice idea," Valery said with a smile, "What were their names?" Jonyna had never really talked to her about that side of her life, so perhaps this was a chance to bond over something they shared in common. Jonyna had lost people when she went through stasis, but Valery had, too.

"I did have a sister," Valery said, though not with a saddened smile.

"Her name was Jade. I... never really got to know her because I was given up to the Jedi when I was very young." Still, Valery had seen a few things about her through visions and a shared Force journey with her husband.

"Aeryn, the more energetic one of the triplets, has Jade as her middle name."

What were their names? Oh goodness...

"I was the oldest." She started. "Sent off when I was 5 to train as a jedi. Dad always told Mom that was too late, but Mom was insistent that she had a few years to at least get to know her firstborn." Jonyna instinctively reached down and gripped her saber, as of to connect with her mom. "You know how that went. I fled to the stars and didn't come home for quite a while. While I was gone, and while the galaxy was falling apart...Cathar was quiet. The Empire didn't see the worth in subjugating a tribal world with little resources. So, my mom and dad just...kept pumping 'em out." She chuckled.

"First was Cy, short for Cymra. He was a starship mechanic when he got older, but mom tells me he was named for the fact he wouldn't stand still for the ten years of his life. His name meant 'Sprinter'." She smiled at the name, taking a moment to remember him.

"Next was Moli. She was..." Jonyna let out a snort. "She was a personality. My nephew Nir reminds me a lot of her. Supposedly she helped kick off a whole generation of holonet stars, but I don't know enough about the Holonet to really understand all that."

Jonyna paused for a while, as she thought of the next one. "...Nal. She was next. She became everything I had wanted to be. You've probably heard of her, honestly. The Master of Shadows, under Luke. At least, that's what the temple records say on Coruscant. I only ever got to know her when she was a quiet seer, giving me visions of my future." Another long pause, as Jonyna let out a long, long sigh, muttering to herself. "I should've listened to her that day."

HAIuSyi.png
"Remember them fondly," Valery said with a softer tone, before reaching out to place a hand on Jonyna's shoulder, "And remember that they've likely lived good lives. I'm sure they missed you when you disappeared, and that it hurt, but life eventually moves on." She smiled and remembered seeing the visions of her parents and sister, and how well they were doing despite missing someone they loved.

Time healed all wounds, but one could still remember.

"Hold onto the good memories and let that be your strength, knowing they went through life with equally good memories of you. Now, with children of your own, it's time to make new memories."

And nothing quite compares to those made with your own family.

HAIuSyi.png
"I'd love to see it," Valery said with a warm smile, "I've returned to where I was born, and it helped me a lot. A look into your past could also be interesting." Valery still traveled to Keshi sometimes, usually to pick up snacks or things that could only be found on her homeworld.

Something Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble knows all about now, having had to make the trip countless times to satisfy her pregnancy cravings...

"That said, we do still need to think of names, hm?"

"...no, I think I'm settled on naming them after my siblings." Jonyna nodded, before slowly standing. "But I do wanna take you to Ryloth. At least before the Nabooians add it to the High Republic." Jonyna rolled her eyes. "Have you had the chance to meet with any of them? I haven't gotten the chance yet."

HAIuSyi.png
"I have not," Valery admitted with a shrug, "They haven't seemed open to it." She was going to leave it at that. The Alliance had its own things to worry about, and this High Republic wasn't on that list of worries.

They could hold down the Southern systems just fine.

"Let's head for Ryloth."
