A Merc to Merc Deal (Justice Shipping & Carrion Company. PM to join)

Gray had been very busy ever since he had been promoted to CEO of SocMin Fed by [member="James Justice"] and he had made it his mission to acquire the company new mines to increase their profits. He had already gotten the company a phrik mine and a stygium mine and was still working out the kinks for the cortosis mine. He was dealing with all of the new paperwork for it right now, and then he got a message from someone needing helping that he had helped out before. It was a blessing in a way as it opened up an opportunity. He needed some outside help on this one though, or at least he felt it would be better if he did.

Gray had contacted [member="Arlan Zy'rosh"] to speak with him about his company providing the extra help he needed. He had asked the man to meet him at bar on Soceras because that was where SocMin Fed was based out of. He was already in a private room of the bar reviewing over the details for the job he was going to see about using Carrion Company for. He had left instructions with the barkeeper to direct the man he was waiting for to this room and all drinks were to be put on his tab. He had a glass of whiskey in front of him as he continued to wait for the man.

In recent months The Carrion Company had slowly begun to evolve into something similar to what Arlan had envisioned at it's founding. A plethora of new contracts had made their way to the troupe, credits were rolling in, facilities were being upgraded, and everything generally seemed to be falling in line. Their biggest boon thus far had been securing a paramilitary contract with The Free Colonies, offering protection and a variety of other services that the ever growing organization seemed to need. So one can imagine when a close ally of the colonies sent forth a request it was taken immediately by none other than the founder of The Carrion Company, Arlan Zy'rosh. Good relations were pertinent to ensure the longevity of business dealings, and making a large sum of credits on the side wouldn't hurt anyone that participated. So, as it were, Arlan boarded a ship and headed for the planet of Soceras to meet with Mr. Raxis and secure yet another opportunity for his men to advance themselves in the galaxy at large.

The flight hadn't been a long one, or at least it hadn't felt like it. Arlan had made his way to the meeting point with ease, a bar in one of the upper class areas it seemed, which was a nice change of pace considering what he had been through as of late. He had only just recently familiarized himself with the colonies and it's people, and though Arlan didn't approve of some of their more 'unscrupulous' activities, he could say he did support what they stood for. A few short hours later, after conferring with his own people and awaiting approval from Gray's, Arlan entered a back room where the aforementioned awaited his arrival. Playing politics had never been Arlan's strong suit so he hoped, considering the background of who he was meeting with, he would not have to be the diplomat he knew he wasn't cut out to be.

"Mr. Raxis." Arlan said somberly as he strode in and took a seat across from Gray. "I'm Arlan Zy'rosh, I lead the Carrion Company." Arlan confirmed just in case that was not evident already. "Though I do confer with my associates and take their opinions on matters highly, my word is the last one. If I don't approve of the mission we do not take it. Just so we are clear on that point." In his experience Arlan found it best to draw the line quick to avoid any unnecessary bickering if negotiations broke down. "Now, you have a job for us?"

Gray took a drink of his whiskey as the door suddenly opened up and a man stepped in side. He introduced himself and got straight to the point of the matter. He was as no nonsense as Gray had heard which was a good sign. Gray had worked with plenty of other mercs throughout his life, seeing as he was raised to be one by his father, and he had always found that the best mercs were the kind who didn't beat around the bush. It meant they had a sense of honor and were good on their word. That could just be some bias on Gray's part though because his father had been that type of man. He smiled and stood up as he extended a hand out to hopefully shake.

Gray would say as Arlan made his choice on if he wanted to shake hands or not, " Yes I am Mr. Raxis, but you can call me Gray. I can respect that way of doing things, I actually do respect it a lot. I am a mercenary myself, well still do it on the side along with my other duties actually. So I hope we can make a deal here merc to merc. And yes, I do have a job for you and your men if you choose to take it. To start us off, why don't you order yourself a drink or some food or both while we get to know each other a little bit? Everything is on me so feel free to order whatever you like no matter how expensive. I'd rather treat my potential business partner well and show them the respect they deserve. And it wouldn't hurt my feelings any if you wish to skip over all of that and move onto the main topic first. I can handle doing this however you want." He smiled as he finished speaking. He had said a lot, but getting the options out there was a good way to judge the man and let him know a bit about Gray himself. Doing that tended to get wordy, but Gray could get wordy from time to time. Now he just waited to see how the man felt about going about this.

Arlan crossed his arms and smiled, glad that he had heard right about Gray and the way he did things. It was nice to deal with someone that was a stuck up official or a pampered merchant every great now and then, though working with other mercenaries had it's troubles too. All in all though Arlan could not help but to have a good feeling about this meeting, one that told him it would be both beneficial for the company and very profitable for him. In his past Arlan had cared little for anything else but credits, wanting more simply for the sake of having more. Now though he actually sought them due to all those he had to provide for. There were more men joining the group each day and though they were contented with how things were at the moment, Arlan knew it was only a matter of time before personnel exceeded his capacity to feed and lodge them all. The construction of extra wings onto the headquarters had already been approved and was underway, but it was costing a pretty penny. Gray's contract seemed to arrive just in time to refill the company's ledger after such an expensive investment.

"Thanks, but no thanks." Arlan said waving his hand to dismiss the offer of food and drink. "I know it's cliche but I don't eat or drink things offered in these sort of situations. Not that I don't trust your hospitality, just that it's a habit I don't want to break." Arlan then stared at Gray for a moment to gauge his reaction before continuing onward. "At any rate, considering our relation to the colonies, I believe we can reach some sort of agreement that will help us both out. My men need work, plain and simple, and though I'm a bit picky when it comes to most things I don't think you intent to hire us for anything I'd deem unsavory. But to clarify." Arlan raised up his hand and proceeded to raise fingers as he listed the company's taboos. "No smuggling, no slaving, no assassination, and no piracy. We're mercenaries, we aren't criminals. At least we try not to be at any rate." Arlan smirked again and crossed his arms back. "If you can agree to all of that we won't have a problem."

Gray figured that Arlan would decline the offer for a drink and food, so he wasn't surprised or disappointed by him doing it. He got the feeling that the man was the type to avoid distractions and potential deceit via their influence. He had nothing but respect for that way of doing things because it was also the way his father had been. He took a drink of his glass of whiskey as Arlan spoke and mentioned his company's policies. They were much in line with Gray's own when he worked as a merc, but the piracy one was dependent on who the target was for him. Taking cargo from pirates and other criminal elements was a none issue for Gray.

Gray set his glass down on the table as he finished his drink. As the clink sounded from it touching the wooden surface, he said, " Good polices to have if you are looking to create a reputable mercenary company. I do agree with your terms and you might actually like this job speaking of piracy. The job I have for you will involve them. I helped out a mining town back on Echoy'la with some pirates taking an entire shipment of beskar and then savagely blowing up their freighter right after without warning. I took the ship, returned their shipment for them, and now it seems they are having some major issues with a band of pirates constantly harassing their shipments and raiding their town. They are in dire straights and in return for rights to their mine, I promised to deal with the issue for them. What I want is your help is eliminating the pirates and if you handle the job well enough then further employment as guards for the mine and protection of shipments. If you are interested we can hash out the details of payment." He just smiled to the man afterwards. It was an offer for good work so there was no reason for the man to decline, but he was welcome to do so if he liked.

Arlan nodded a few times, more for aesthetic than actual agreement, as Gray spoke. The job seemed fairly straightforward, something the company had done in the past with little to no problem, and if Arlan was accessing things correctly then it would require a large force to get done. The way Arlan saw it had a team of men on the planet clearing out and maintaining a perimeter around the noted areas whilst another team led the hunt for the pirates. This way they could prevent potential backtracking and leave the targets no recourse but to directly engage Carrion forces if they wished to reenter the mining zones. It reminded Arlan a lot of a job Leon recently did for a client, only e faced cartel instead of pirates, but the principle of the matter was the same. There was no way to dance around things, no way to do things from the shadows, only an opportunity for a full on fire fight with the declared enemies. That much at least Arlan could be thankful for, having spent more time in the post months operating from the sidelines instead of actually getting his hands dirty with the rest of his men.

"Seems simple enough." Arlan said calmly. "If I recall correctly the planet is mostly clouds, a lot like Bespin. Things are more than likely to devolve into individual dogfights before anything else. Still though, it shouldn't be a problem for us to handle as long as we control the ground." Arlan craned his neck to the side and cracked it before pulling a data-pad out of his jacket and looking it over. "We've got the ships and the men to fly them. It'll just take a little time to get organized and get underway. If you're fine waiting for us to arrive I see nothing wrong with this arrangement." Arlan then raised his brow and leaned forward. "Now, let's talk about payment."

[member="Gray Raxis"]

Gray took another drink from his glass of whiskey as [member="Arlan Zy'rosh"] spoke. It seems the job was agreeable with him, which was good. He soon followed it up with the mentioning of payment, the most important part of the conversation. He finished up his drink and set the now empty glass of whiskey down on the table. He smiled to the man as he said, " Well the main form of payment would be in credits, being the most versatile form of pay. We can iron out the exact details later as well. The other part of the payment would be in part of a shipment of beskar upon the completion of the job. You are free to sell it or use it however you wish. If your company does a good job, which I have no reason right now to think they won't, then I was thinking we could keep some of your men hired on for added protection to the mine and shipments which would be paid for in credits and allowing your members to mine some beskar for personal use in equipment, arms, and armor. The only condition to it is it can not be sold for personal profit. I am running a business here mining and selling the stuff, so it would be bad if they start thinking they can make a quick profit on the side."

Gray ordered a refill for his whiskey after he finished speaking. He was being upfront with the man about the details of the deal. He added after he finished ordering his drink, " So how does that sound to you? Is the payment agreeable to you?" He just waited to see what the man would say. The deal sounded good to Gray, but who knew how the man would respond. He seemed like a reasonable man, so he didn't figure he would try to extort more.

Arlan sat quietly, his arms crossed and eyes fixed upon Gray as he spoke. So far nothing had come up that actually seemed unfavorable for The Carrion Company, in fact it seemed as if his would be employer was going out of his way to make accommodations for him. Not that Arlan viewed that as a bad thing, just that he was used to arguing to make things worth his while. In this deal there was nothing more he could really ask for without being unreasonable, and in fact he believed this sort of contract was the exact sort his men needed. A good fight with a potential hardy force to liven things up and afterwards a nice steady job to send the recruits on while they get used to how things are done. Leaning forward Arlan sighed, ran his fingers through his hair, and closed his eyes. Taking one somber moment to truly analyze the worth of this contract and the risks it would entail, Arlan could think of no reason to refuse.

"Honestly, It's seems like too good a deal on our part." Arlan spoke as he open his eyes and looked to Gray. "The suggested payment far outweighs any risk the mission presents, and the Beskar will go a long way on our future projects. I can agree to not selling it, as long as no inquires are made into what we use it for." He sat up and shook his head. "It may be unreasonable, but even a small operation like ours has things we'd rather not leak out if you get my meaning." He went on, pulling out a cigar and lighting it before taking a long drag. "If that's alright with you then we have a deal. You'll have the support of The Carrion Company in securing the mines and their continued protection."

Gray watched [member="Arlan Zy'rosh"] reaction to the offer and could tell something was bothering him about it. It wasn't until he spoke that it made sense why he had made that face earlier. He felt the deal was too good not to take and that concerned him. Gray had been in that position before on jobs and they were too good to be true nine times out of ten. He smiled as he said, " Promise you will personally punish anyone who dares to sell beskar mined from my mine on the side and I can promise not to inquire about what you use your beskar for. As I said, it is personal use. Do that and we have a deal. I can give your men time to get ready, but try not to take too long with it. The people do need our help after all right now, so it is better for them the faster we are. So does that sound fair to you? Do we have a deal?" He extended his hand out as he finished speaking. It was time to see if this was all finalized and things were going to end smoothly or not.

There was little left to talk about, in fact talking anymore at this point would be just mindless pleasantry that Arlan had little time for anyhow. As Gray stood so too did Arlan, reaching across the table to shake the man's hand. As meetings go this one had been a rather enjoyable one. Arlan had gotten to speak with a man, much like himself, that had once been an operating mercenary but was now in a position of leadership. It was good to see that it was not entirely impossible to be successful even when you had a rather unscrupulous background, despite how some of the more high-standing officials may look at the matter. Arlan would except this contract, he would put his men to work as soon as possible, and in return The Carrion Company's relationship with The Free Colonies would be solidified and his men would have a long lasting source of income they could rely on between more pressing jobs.

"I can make that promise, and I'll have my best on it as soon as I get back to Rutan." Arlan said as he smirked. "Now if it's nothing to you I think it's time we sign some paperwork."
