A Meeting Among the Shadows

A dimly lit studio apartment filled with only two chairs and a small wooden table. The only lighting came from a small lantern on the floor and the neon lights protruding from the bustling market streets of Coruscant - Sith territory. Kassius was but a small fly in the grand scheme of things to them though, so travel for him wasn't particularly difficult. He had all his papers, registration, everything needed to lay low in a hostile environment.

He's done damage to the One Sith before, but always as a part of the Mando Armed Forces, never on his own. Now, he pondered his loyalties. Mandalorian bureaucracy all but forced him out of the service and the Clans seemed to be drunk on their own power. They could keep prodding smaller factions, but eventually they'd pick a fight they cannot win. Which was funny, Kassius thought, because the entire Mandalorian culture surrounded battle and the ideals of a warrior. Someone in desperation for their life will fight with twice the ferocity.

There was a knock at the door. Kassius turned his head slightly to face the door before moving to the table to fetch a cigarette.

"It's open.", Kassius called out as he brought the cigarette to his mouth. As the door opened, he clicked his lighter and sparked a flame. A strong incense filled the room.

A cloaked figure entered and shut the door behind them. They made no sound as they approached. One footstep. Another. The figure grew in size as it approached. Eventually, the lantern revealed a portion of their face. Gloved hands began to remove the hood.

"It's good to see you, my boy!", Gael said with a hearty smile.

"Mr. bar Ammon! It's been too long.", Kassius greeted as the two approached to embrace each other. A moment had passed and they had distanced themselves before sitting at the table. Police sirens whirred past the windows.

"Why Coruscant, old man?", Kassius jested with a genuine curiosity.

"Because it is here, we are untouched by those who might do us harm. Here, no one will know of our actions."
