A Jedi's first attempt at redesigning ships

"Here's one for you, Cathul" the SIS agent told her. "It has to do with New Class"

"New Class? Any idea as to the content of this file?"

"It's included among the footage of the battle as given to all people whom we think could do something useful under the New Class Modernization Program"

"NCMP? What makes the Strategic Intelligence Service think that I can somehow be useful to NCMP? This is about fleeting: I may have had fleeters for patients in the past but..."

"There is no ifs, ands or buts, you're now part of NCMP"

The SIS agent hands Cathul a datafile containing some footage from the Omega War. For some reason, Alliance intelligence saw fit to give Cathul some footage from the Omega War, especially as it pertains to fleeting. NCMP, the pet military project of the Alliance, was criticized for being too ambitious but somehow, Cathul was deemed fit to work under NCMP. But how could the NCMP leadership even know about who her patients were? Cathul may have had fleeters for patients, all right, but she was far from a proven quantity as far as ship design or fleeting is concerned. NCMP already called upon the more experienced admirals in the GA arsenal: Ayden Cater, Astarii Saren, to name the most visible. But, given what the new visitor is there on Malastare to visit Cathul for, she'd rather not open the datafile just yet. It will be an item served for his Force- lesson that he will undertake today. A lesson on psychometry, which mostly amounts to reading the Force-history of an object.

"A new visitor has arrived, ma'am. [member="Xiarr Sair"]"

"Send him in"

Xiarr walked into the classroom, he saw a Twi'liek talking to some agent of some kind. Xiarr sat down and waited for the Twi'liek to finish her conversation. Xiarr had wanted to learn psychometry, the force ability to see an object's past. He had come to Galactic Alliance space for the sole reason that it was nearby. Xiarr looked at the dry landscape of Malastare through a window, it was cold desolate and looked like it couldn't support life of any kind. After the Twi'liek was done talking, Xiarr looked at her and said: "I assume you are going to teach me today?"

"Computer equipment is great to learn psychometry on. Take this data disc, for example. Hold this data disc in your hands, look for Force-signs that the object has been used and, if so, by whom or, for what end. Sometimes the Force-sign is just a tiny speck in the object in the Force, whilt at others you can read the object's Force-history in the Force as you would a log. Just be careful: sometimes psychometry can be painful to use depending on the content of the Force-history of the object"

Cathul would find it difficult to concentrate her attention on two tasks at once. She can't help but think of what flaws she could find in their allies' or enemies' fleeting methods, or ships. If this data disc really contains information pertaining to the Omega War as it was fought in space, I have to prove the SIS, and the NCMP, that I am worthy of their trust. Mandalorians never trusted me beyond the medical, she thought. As of yet, she doesn't know what sense to make out of the content of the files other than it has something to do with the Omega War. Perhaps at a later date can she make better sense of it all. She can always watch the content if it is actually a video recording, or series of such recordings, so long as there isn't some self-destruct sequence on it. But she had to go back to the psychometry lesson conducted in her home. As tempted as she is to sift through the content of the datafiles...

"They're great because one can usually track the progress better; it's usually rather straightforward to check the usage history of computer equipment"
