A Hold Placed on Mael Ren

I'm not happy with Mael Ren as a character. He doesn't feel right to me and it's not anything except this writer's perfectionism. I may drop the event provided it doesn't hurt this faction. I will complete it if required because it isn't fair if it affects you.

I think I might want to revitalize him as something non-Force related. Perhaps he can be some kind of field agent in the First Order's intelligence service.

Is it possible to transfer the rank of Knight over, [member="Natasi Fortan"]? If not, I can start at the bottom, that isn't an issue.

Also, having confirmed it with the event Judge, I will be dropping Mael from Omega. No penalties will be incurred by the faction.

You could always go through the process of losing your Force sensitivity, so that if you do wish to return to being a Knight of Ren, you could say that he regained it or some such. The Force and its mysteries.

Some hidden back story, possessed ghost, item, whatever jacked his shiz and it was gone.

FU/NFU ranks are not transferable per se, but the work you've done could count towards a speedy promotion.

I am glad we're not losing you as a writer. I understand wanting to shift directions with the character, so I am really happy that the First Order has a place for you in the Intelligence department, [member="Mael Ren"]!

We'd love to have you over at Intel! I think he'd be a good fit. As [member="Asharad Graush"] suggested, there could be a mental block, perhaps you lose connectivity to the Force due to that, I've seen or read that places before. Once super strong masters lose their 'mojo' and even the most simple of tasks, such as moving a pebble telekinetically becomes exhausting. Despite that, Mael I'm sure has invaluable skills that don't rely on the Force and his unique perspective as a former/fallen from grace Knight of Ren could provide again, invaluable worth to the Intelligence Bureau!

I think maybe I want to pretend he was never a Force User. I was thinking of a rewrite as a former army Captain seconded to the Security Bureau. I want to create a man who saw the difference between the First Order's rule and independence.

He grew up in a hellhole, then the First Order came and there was stability. He idolized these people who helped put food in his stomach. Officer cadet through the military academy eventually becomes Captain. I'd like to write him in his early 30's so he's not a green kid.

Basically he's more lawful than evil in that archtype. He really believes he's helping the galaxy.
