A Guide on How to Write Invasions within The High Republic

Invasions.

Some people hate them. Some people love them. And some people? They dive in and go with the flow. But here’s what you might not know:

Invasions are one of the most important faction threads on the board. Especially for Major Factions!

Yet they’re often misunderstood.

  • “Do I need to fight to be in an invasion?”
  • “We’ve pre-determined this whole thing, right?”
This guide is here to clear up those misconceptions and help you understand how The High Republic approaches invasions and how you can thrive in that environment.

The Three Core Principles

IF?

Per the board rules, to participate in an Invasion as a member of The High Republic, you must be one of the following:
  • An existing member of the faction.
  • An accepted member of any officially listed allies.
  • A character executing a sponsored bounty hunter warrant.
If you’re not one of those? You’re not considered a valid High Republic participant for the invasion.

WHY?

Yes, personal storytelling is important. But Invasions are, first and foremost, Faction Threads.

They’re designed to drive the meta-narrative; the larger story unfolding across the board. They’re not just personal development corners to reshape as you please.

If you're in an Invasion thread, it’s because you want to:

  • Write for the faction’s greater arc.
  • Contribute to the defense or offense of a major moment.
  • Be part of something bigger than your own story.

HOW?

Invasions can get heated, both IC and OOC. And we get it! Sometimes the salt flows.

But here in the High Republic, we take the moral high ground seriously:

  • If OOC drama starts brewing, do not engage. DM a faction admin.
  • If you’re confused about a post or unsure about a direction, DM a faction admin.
  • If IC banter or factional teasing is happening, enjoy it! We all enjoy a little bit of seasoning. Just remember to stay mindful of others’ perceptions.
This principle is your cheat code to writing in Invasions. Follow it, and judging will almost always swing in your favor.

The Invasion Cheat Codes

Storytelling

A joint story with continuity, cohesion, and mutual support always does well. We’re lucky to have some of the most talented writers on the board; use that!
  • At the start of each Invasion, the High Republic Creative team will post Objectives.
  • These include thematic guidance and setting-specific hooks.
  • Use these objectives like a dominion prompt, just add your own character flavor.

Cooperation

Invasions are designed to encourage interaction.

PvP happens. When it does, remember:

  • You’re writing with a real person who has goals too.
  • Be respectful. Be fair.
  • If something goes off the rails, talk to the admin team. We are here to help you.
  • And above all, stay focused on the story.

It’s Not Just Writing? It’s Reading Too!

Read. Other. Posts.
Seriously!
Read everyone’s posts.

A strong story can fall apart not because of bad writing, but because one group ignored what the rest of the thread was doing.

We’ll provide
TL;DR summaries of major events to help. But still: read.

Don’t Be META

Take hits. Fail. Struggle.

That’s the High Republic way.

We’re not about winning at all costs,
we never have been.

Invasion victories built on honest storytelling, character risk, and faction-wide cooperation are far more rewarding.

The High Republic doesn't fear loss.
We write it into our legend.

Listen to the Boss

If an Admin suggests a change or correction, it’s not personal.

It’s
not an attack on your writing.

It’s usually one of two things:

  • To better serve the invasion story.
  • To address an issue flagged by other writers.
Invasions are faction-first events. Leave ego at the door and trust your team.

A Note on AI

AI tools can be helpful for idea generation or grammar fixes.

But they struggle with Invasions.

Why?

  • Invasions are fast-paced.
  • They're unpredictable.
  • They require live engagement with other players’ writing.
If you do use AI tools (even for editing), re-read your work to ensure it's cohesive and nuanced.

The Golden Rule

HAVE FUN

This is the most important part of all.

Yes, the stakes are high.
Yes, pressure can mount.
But if it ever feels like too much; step back. Breathe. Message us.

There’s
no obligation to participate in an Invasion if you’re burnt out or just not in the right headspace.

But if you do jump in?

Follow this guide, and once the High Republic starts breathing down the
mythical 14–0 win streak of the One Sith

Well, you might just get addicted.

May the Force be with you.
