Somehow, Mandalore had been one of the easier destinations to put on her list.
Valery had known the Mandalorians long before her disappearance, both as enemies and allies at different points in her life. By the time she had served as Grandmaster of the New Jedi Order, however, relations had been good. Better than most Jedi could claim, perhaps. She had fought alongside them, respected their ways without pretending to be one of them, and had earned enough trust that arriving in their territory had once been relatively simple.
Whether that trust had survived her absence was another matter.
Her X-wing broke through Mandalore's atmosphere and descended toward the surface after transmitting her personal identification codes. Valery kept both hands on the controls and watched the landscape rise to meet her. The Mandalorian Empire was a more familiar power to her, but so much had changed, that she needed to understand what they were currently dealing with. Their ambitions, their allies and enemies, and perhaps how she could play a part in their future.
The fighter soon settled onto its landing gear, and Valery popped the canopy open. She climbed out and hit the ground before she straightened and took in her surroundings. Dressed in her jumpsuit and with her lightsaber secured at her side, she looked just the same as she had in the past. Her eyes, however, told a different story. She had changed more than she realized herself.
After looking around for a long moment, Valery raised a hand and ran her fingers through her long hair, pushing loose strands away from her face after the flight. Now came the interesting part. She wasn't just looking for any Mandalorian. She was looking for their leader, their Mand'alor. She chuckled at the thought and turned towards the welcoming party that was surely going to approach her anytime now.
She hoped she was still welcome here.
