A Desert World (Open to All)

Yalara, like many desert planets, tended to open its inhabitants eyes to the harsh reality of survival. While it wasn't impossible to make a decent living, it was still difficult nonetheless. Luckily for Yalara, there was the First Order. Being so close to the Empire's capital planet of Dosuun, the economy was ensured a steady flow of import and export. Tendra had been taught how great this was long ago, always feeling a twinge of pride whenever he saw the First Order's banner. Even greater was the pride he held for his family name and career, providing crops and water to those less fortunate, while his father fought as a loyal Stormtrooper in the war. Perhaps someday, he too would enlist in the First Order military.

That would most likely come at a later date however, for now the young man had a job to do. Heaving the last of the metallic barrels and crates upon the XP-38 landspeeder, Tendra ran back inside the structure he called home, following the stairway that descended further into the underground farm. Picking his brown jacket up from a nearby table, Tendra slipped his arms through the sleeves, fitting his upon his body before heading to the exit. No one else was home, and so he made sure to lock up before hopping into the ancient landspeeder. Its design was so old, Tendra was surprised it was able to carry the little cargo he was bringing with him into the city.

Some hours later..

With a stern and unyielding expression upon his face, Tendra stared up at the hovering Toydarian as he continued to drive down the established price of the goods he was offering. The city wasn't as expansive as Mos Eisley, but it still had a fair amount of traffic. The market was grounded with vendors and stalls, all full of people trying to exchange what they had for something or the other. Violent commotions were not uncommon, but the mere presence of the First Order authorities tended to sway even the most hardheaded individuals. Luckily for Tendra, all he had to worry about was the Toydarian who was trying to swindle him. "Alright, four hundred credits for the water, and a crate of black melon seeds. Doesn't get any better than that."

There was a brief pause, as the Toydarian shifted his gaze to the loaded hoversled the human had with him. "Impossible! I have an establishment to run, it's either one hundred and fifty or no deal." Even though he had started at seven hundred credits, the winged pest had managed to slice the price of his goods by more than half. With a shrug and an unsatisfied look, Tendra indicated that the deal was off, causing the Toydarian to roll his eyes and turn away, not before cursing out Tendra in Huttese for having wasted his time. Supporting himself against the hoversled, the youth sighed, watching the market-goers as they went about their daily routines. It was obvious to him that he was doing something wrong, though without his mother or father's guidance he was on his own.

Near You

"You there! Stop!"

She pivoted and brought her DL-44 out it's holster. Worsh her Mon Calamari companion followed her eyes and grunted. Yeah this was it, the end of the line. A couple trooper had them pinned into an alley, and there was no way out. They had been onto her for some time, after her face went viral during the whole Empire Flagship incident.

"Well suppose this is it."

"Yep."

Worsh slung his heavy repeater off his back and opened fire.

She ducked behind him, flanked left and began to fire her own heavy blaster, slinging bolts into the formation. The alley lit up with crimson and green lances. She took a hit to the shoulder, the super heated laser bolt burning her flesh. The pain made her stumble and she lashed out, grabbing the wall for stability.

A few more round jacked by her head, singing her flowing black mane.

"Ohhh no. Not the hair bucketheads!" She roared.

"Worsh duck!"

And he did, just as she raised her off hand, flattening the palm towards the squadron. The top of the building collapsed, struck by a ripping current of air and force energy. It crashed down into the alley, crushing a few of them. The rest she picked off in quick succession with her pistol and then she began to screw on her grappling hook as alarms sounded.

"Time to bounce!"

"What are you doing near my shop? I haven't done anything!" The Toydarian barked, as he spotted the Stormtroopers in the alley that had a backdoor entrance to his establishment. He regretted approaching them, for blaster bolts began to fly to and fro, and before he knew it a large piece of debris had flattened him against the sand paved street. The commotion was hard to miss, even with all of the vehicles and people passing through the market. Another small squad of four Stormtroopers charged through the crowd, making their way towards the fatal gunfight which had also caused the death of a stingy merchant, and destruction of property.

Turning his head along with the rest of the crowd, Tendra gazed down the street towards the crime scene, before glancing back at his merchandise. Grabbing the small hoversled, Tendra pushed it in front of him as he moved, trying to get as close to the danger as possible without actually getting involved. Many other curious onlookers had gathered too, receiving a harsh warning from the soldiers as they advanced on the criminals. They were considered heavily armed and dangerous, and so the Stormtroopers backed away from the alley before moving into range. It appeared as if [member="Seraya Whisperwind"] and her accomplice were attempting to escape, and on top of that hitting a moving target at this distance would prove challenging.

The squad leader opened fire, attempting to hit the two with a couple of bursts from his blaster rifle in non-lethal areas. The other three stood nearby and alert, ready to intervene once the next move was made. The sight of dead soldiers brought a feeling of despair to Tendra, as he realized the dangers that his father must face on a daily basis. With a hopeful stare, he could only wish that the noble Stormtroopers would capture these terrorists.

The next squad came in and was chewed up. By now the Mon Calarmia had gotten his heavy repeater unslung and ripped into them to cover her. The beams criss-crossed and zinged as the gun turned over an over, barrels steaming with the heat. She launched her grappling hook onto the top a nearby building and reached out with the force.

Still firing the Mon Cal named Worsh's eyes opened wide as he felt his body drag through the sand. It threw his aim off a bit, but there was still the sound of duraplast armor splintering under the earth shattering boom of the repeater. He slide right into her side, and she locked an arm around him tight, grasping his harness.

"You ready dude!"

"Yeah, whoa that was quick, and crazy. Is this data chip really worth it?"

"Yes! Not as crazy as this Osik!"

Her off hand twitched again, rippling with the currents of the force. As the troopers lay dead or dying they ascended, and suddenly the sand came to life, ripping up from the ground and barrelling down the alleyway. The plume would shred normal skin, though perhaps not cloaked folks.

Never the less the mini sandstorm was a great cover. She slammed the winch with her thumb, and their feet left the ground, bodies spiralling to the nearby rooftop....

The First Order's local command center didn't have much information on the criminal duo, but still knew [member="Seraya Whisperwind"] had been making a name for herself recently in First Order space. "We've lost sight of the targets, sir," a communications officer called out, after watching the life signs of the recently deployed squadron go offline. "I want patrols on the streets, deploy the LIUVs. Pairs of Stormtroopers were sent out on the repulsorcrafts, traveling through the city streets towards their destination.

They began to slowly survey the area nearby the crime scene, eventually spanning out further as they found no sign of the culprits. Witnesses reported that a spontaneous sandstorm had surged through the area, acting as a perfect cover for the terrorists to escape under. Medical teams began to take away the dead and wounded, removing debris and such to allow people to go on with their day as if nothing had happened. Tendra was just as startled as the rest of the crowd, unable to explain what they had seen.

Hoping the terrorists would not strike again, Tendra took a hold upon his hoversled, pulling it behind him as he left the marketplace. Surely, there was a better way of selling his produce. The streets were relatively barren now, the patrolling First Order vehicles along with the recent attack prompting those smart enough to stay indoors. Only the shadiest of characters were out now. From an alley, a man dressed in typical smuggler attire noticed the farm boy and his produce, leaving the shadows in order to tail the youth.

"Hey!" He called, causing Tendra to turn around in surprise. Lifting a hand and pointing at himself, the young man made sure he was the one being addressed. The older individual shook his head at Tendra's reaction, considering there was no one else around. "What have you got on the hoversled?" He questioned, cautiously drawing closer.

[member="Tendra Daklan"]

"That was close." Worsh said as they dropped flat on their backs. They were protected and concealed on all four sides by the parapets and the only entrance to the roof was a fire escape with old rusty steel that barely hung on.

"Yea you could say that again."

She glanced at her wound. A blaster burn was nasty wound. Third degree burn to be sure, cauterized skin, penetration and searing of blood vessels, not mention contamination from the fibers of her jacket. It was not as bad as it could have been, thanks to her armor weave orange coat, but it was still burning.

"Got your med kit?"

"Yep," Worsh said, ripping a power pack out and tossing it over his shoulder.

"Pass it here please."

"Sure." He snatched his kit and tossed it, ramming a fresh power cell into the repeater and slumping against the wall. She could tell he was a bit unsatisfied with the situation.

"What's the problem dude?"

"You Seraya. You always get us into the deep end quick as Osik. Sometimes I think you need to slow down and play it safe. Y'know, the long game."

She snorted, spraying bacta foam deep into the wound.

"Which would have got us where? We got the data because I took action and blasted the dude before he blew our cover. I mean feth dude, what else was I supposed to do?"

"Get a better cover. Stop moving so fast and half cocked. Maybe a force trick?"

"Nah only works on the dumb. That dude was way too smart for his own good."

"Agreed."

"So who takes first watch?"

"I got it, just get some sleep. When darkness falls I'll wake ya and we can move."

"You don't want any sleep?"

Worsh shook his little container of stims and grinned. His own vice which she hated.

"I got sleep in a bottle, right here!"

Tendra was puzzled at first, but slowly came to the realization that this man might be interested an interested buyer. "Water and black melon seeds," the youth replied, not exactly sure how to sell his pitch. Black melons were inherently disgusting, and the reasons for wanting water were more than obvious. "Got a shipment of seeds straight from Tatooine, been saving extras ever since." Tendra continued, making it known that the product was authentic. Whether that was good or bad was up to the buyer. The older man began to scratch thoughtfully at his trimmed beard, pulling one side of his jacket open before withdrawing a shiny credit chip.

"Better than nothing, kid. Here is five hundred credits," he spoke, handing the valuable chip over to Tendra who anxiously stuffed it in his pocket. He did not want to get robbed today. "You'll get another five hundred credits after you bring it to this address." the man spoke, displaying a holographic image of the location to Tendra before transferring it over to the youth's own device. It was only a small datapad, but you took what you could get on this planet. "Well, all right! Thanks a lot." Tendra replied, shaking the man's hand before turning back and heading the way he had came from.

His landspeeder was still parked near the marketplace, at least he hoped it was. He would need it to get to the warehouse that he would be delivering to. The sun began to slowly set below the horizon, as Tendra walked for an hour or so to his desired location. Movement from the corner of his eye caught the youth's attention, as he directed his gaze towards another alley that two individuals emerged from. "Sorry fellas, I already sold this lot, delivering it as we speak," Tendra called out, assuming they were interested buyers as well considering they approached similar to the man who had earlier.

Then again, these were two Weequay, and while Tendra didn't think of himself as racist, he did have a bit of Imperial xenophobia in him. "Oh naw lad, we're 'ere for pick up," one of the two spoke, giving his accomplice a wry smile. "Yeah, din't you get the memo?" It was fairly obvious by now that these two were only interested in taking Tendra's hoversled, and he could not help but wonder if he had been set up from the very start. Delving into his jacket pocket, the farm boy drew his blaster pistol, causing a surprised reaction from the two thugs. Which then evolved into one of amusement, as they busted out in roaring laughter. The firearm shook in Tendra's hands, as he seemed to be unable to stop his hands from shaking. It was truly embarrassing.

[member="Tendra Daklan"]

"Hey wake up!"

She did wake up and drew her blaster out of reflex, sticking it in Worsh's face.

"Whoa!"

"Whoa dude, careful when you wake me up like that. What's up?"

"I think there's something going on down there. Looks like a kid is about to get robbed."

"Really? Let me see."

She peeped her head over the parapet. Most of the patrols had moved of so it was relatively safe now. Yeah the kid was a rookie. She could tell by the way his blaster wavered in the air. She thought about shooting the other guys, but that would blow their cover spot. Then she had another idea.

"Let's go down there."

"You crazy?"

"You know it."

"Alright, do your disguise thing."

"Sure."

She focused for a brief moment as they made their way down the rope to the ground. Her mind dipped into the force and then outside of the narrow band. She was in the white current now, a space between force and something else. A mystical band of energy that could do all sorts of amazing things.

She whipped up a visual in her head and drew the current about them, cloaking them in illusion.

Her Coat was black and hair red now. Worsh went from Mon Cal to Bith.

Then they approached, her with her blaster at the high ready.

"Is there a problem here gents?" She asked...

"You couldn't fire that thing to save your life, boy!" A Weequay hollered, before turning to his partner in crime and laughing their heads off. Tendra couldn't help but agree with these two, for he had no idea what they were planning to do. A little roughing up he could handle, even stealing his hoversled would be fine with him, but he did not want to die or have his credits taken back for that matter.

"Now, tell us what's in them crates." The other Weequay demanded, extending an arm as he roughly pushed the youth with nothing but a finger. Fortunately Tendra did not embarrass himself further, able to withstand the brief pressure and remaining standing straight as the two aliens loomed over him.

"It's just seeds and water, you can't possibly want-" Tendra was about to continue, but the Weequay held up a hand to motion for his silence, shooting a devious look to his friend. It appeared they did want them after all. However, just as they were about to push passed the boy, [member="Seraya Whisperwind"] and her Bith companion appeared. "Ain't no problem 'ere, unless you wanna make one." The Weequay retorted, turning around to tower over the duo, as his partner rested a hand on his blaster pistol.

[member="Tendra Daklan"]

She frowned and raised her trust DL-44 at them. It did not waver and her jaw went tight. Beside her Worsh spun up the barrels of his repeater. They buzzed with an annoying whine.

"Get away from the kid. Last chance."

Tendra couldn't believe what he had gotten himself into. As soon as [member="Seraya Whisperwind"] moved to raise her weapon, so did the two Weequay, a barrel pointed at Worsh's face before his repeater could even begin to spin. A blaster pistol was also trained on Seraya, but they hadn't pulled their triggers yet. A good old fashioned stand off, right in the middle of the street. Tendra believed these individuals to be the greatest of idiots. A patrolling LIUV at the end of the street came to a halt, a Stormtrooper within it using micro-binoculars to get a better look at the scene.

Upping the audio output within his helmet's speakers, he shouted to the group. "You five, drop your weapons and stay where you are!" What little information the local First Order command center had gathered sprang to the Stormtrooper's mind, as he looked closer at the weapon the Bith was carrying. The reports detailed that one of the terrorists was wielding a repeater identical to the one he was looking at. "We're gonna need backup, sector five."

The soldier spoke, maneuvering the vehicle towards the armed group while his squad mate took aim with his E-11. "Look what you've done!" One of the Weequay shouted, looking towards his friend and then back to Tendra. "We won't forget this!" He yelled, as they turned and began to run from the law. Tendra on the other hand was frozen in place, not afraid of death anymore. How was he going to explain being arrested to his father?

[member="Tendra Daklan"]

Her first instinct was to run, or shoot. The bad guys were running off though, so as far as she could tell her mission was accomplished. The other issue is that she still had a stolen data card somewhere in her jacket. Something they'd find after a deep search of her in an Imperial Interrogation room.

That was unacceptable.

They had the numbers though, and she nodded to Worsh. She was a close combat specialist, a vigilante, and a Warden. But she was not an idiot. One blast from that vehicle and they'd be in sixteen different pieces on the street.

"Run kid. If you know what's good for ya."

She dropped her pistol to the dirt and Worsh dropped his repeater. Then they interlocked their fingers, hands on their heads.

"We surrender. We're just citizens trying to stop a robbery!" She said, her voice reinforced by a strange, suggestive, even seductive current of force energy...

The headlights of the LIUV grew brighter as it approached through the darkening streets, nearly blinding the trio as it came to a stop nearby. One of the Stormtroopers pulled himself over the edge of the vehicle, landing on the sand below with his rifle in hand. Approaching the group cautiously, he cast a glance down at their weapons, relieved that they had at least complied.

As [member="Seraya Whisperwind"] explained the situation, the soldier directed his attention to Tendra, who simply nodded in confirmation. There was no way that Tendra would have ran, for his father had told him that it only makes thing worse in the long run. It all seemed very coincidental to the trooper, and besides, these two fine citizens were just trying to stop a robbery. "You were just trying to stop a robbery, very good. There are terrorists about, you should be indoors," the Stormtrooper replied, before turning back to his vehicle and climbing on board.

They then drove past the trio, in pursuit of the two Weequay that had caused the trouble. Tendra could not believe his eyes, or ears for that matter. He had thought for sure that they were done for. Bending down to pick his blaster pistol back up, the youth looked at it and sighed. "You're good, lady. Crazy, but good." He remarked, holstering his pistol back into his jacket pocket.

[member="Tendra Daklan"]

"Heh heh. That's a part of my job kid. What are you doing out an about? I'd buy you a drink but....I'm kind of a wanted woman."

She retrieved her own weapon from the dirt, happy that she didn't have to shift into violence. Sometimes the best offence was just a mind trick or a cheap shot. The good stuff.

Worsh retrieved his repeater and slung it back over his shoulder. Satisfied that there weren't any more troopers around she moved off into the shadows of the street near another alley. The darkness was her only cover. The illusion and the mind trick had tired her out and she was beginning to feel a dull throb in her temples.

She let it drop. Her coat went back to orange and Worsh became a Mon cal.

"How you like living under the first order kid?"

Tendra listened to Seraya, turning as he went to secure his hoversled. Thankfully, those Weequay hadn't grabbed it on their way off of the streets. For a wanted woman, [member="Seraya Whisperwind"] sure seemed a tad bit reckless to the youth.

Pulling the cart back into the middle of the street, Tendra looked over his shoulder as he came to a stop, noticing that the woman had already retreated into the nearby alleyway. The sun had set and darkness covered the city, save for a few lampposts here and there. "Times are good, compared to when Yalara was just a backwater planet on the edge of the galaxy," the boy speculated, remembering how difficult it used to be for their family to make a decent profit.

Glancing over to the alley, Tendra was able to make out the orange shade of Seraya's jacket, but beyond that hardly saw much. Had she changed her clothing that quickly? Tendra was impressed, maybe she wasn't as dumb as he thought. "So, you're a mercenary?" He guessed, figuring that was most likely her profession.

The young stormtrooper muffled a scream as Luther finished pulling out the pieces of metal from her wound. She'd been shot in the shoulder and the metal of her armour had warped until it was sticking into her. Luther had given her some painkillers before working on it, but he doubted it dulled much of the pain. He bandaged her wound and motioned for the other troopers to carry her onto the LIUV. He disposed of the medical covers for his gauntlets and put his helmet back on.

He was technically off-duty at the time of the attack. But he was awakened to deal with the emergency. He had missed the fight but there was plenty of wounded to attend to. He picked up his F-11D blaster rifle, and resumed his patrol. He was paired with another medic by the name of Rook. The man was a chatter-box, but a decent person and a steady head. Together, they were tasked with finding any who were wounded from the attack, trooper or civilian.

Rook stretched his arms, a yawn barely heard through his helmet. "Is there anything more boring than being on patrol? Ah... Well I guess I shouldn't complain"

Luther wished he didn't have his helmet on, so Rook could see him roll his eyes. They rounded a corner and spotted a LIUV headed towards them. They hailed the vehicle and it stopped in front of them. Luther saluted them:

"Good to see you Sergeant Grath. How goes it?" The trooper on the LIUV shook his head. "We are pursuing two Weequay that attacked a citizen, have you seen them?" Rook responded: "All we've seen is Private Karla, who was evacuated, sir"

The Sergeant growled. "Kark, they probably went underground" he paused for a moment then added: "I need you two to head back up the street. The citizens who were attacked are a boy, girl and Bith. The girl has nasty looking wound, it would be good if you could check if she's ok". He saluted the two and drove off.

Luther turned to Rook. "No rest for the weary, lets head out". They made their way to where the sergeant had indicated.

[member="Tendra Daklan"] - [member="Seraya Whisperwind"]

Having slunk into the darkness of the alleyway, it could only be assumed that [member="Seraya Whisperwind"] and her accomplice had vanished in to the night. Tendra didn't mind, he was just thankful that the woman had such great timing. Holding his hoversled tightly, the youth began to make his way down the sandy streets once more, trying to remember where he had parked the landspeeder.

If he wasn't able to deliver the water and seeds, it would leave a stain on their family name, as he had already accepted pay and given his word. Glancing down at his small datapad device, Tendra looked over the address once more, which was the warehouse district on the outskirts of the city. It would be a long journey if he walked, and so he hoped nothing had happened to his vehicle. [member="Luther Ando"] and the other soldier by his side were down the street that Tendra walked, both of them closing the distance as they proceeded forward.

It wasn't too dark as of yet, and the young man could make out the two bright white figures clad in armor. It made him feel a lot safer, that was for sure. As long as he wasn't in trouble, at least.

Koda had been hiding in the shadows the entire time during the whole attack that had gone on. A building had collapsed after a big fire fight and she remembered seeing a toydarian going into the now collapsed store.. Well. One was dead. That was going to be messy when it came to cleanup. Pulling the hood up over her shoulders, the young Jedi walked out into the street, seemingly avoiding the storm troopers she could, with a hand on her hood, covering her face. Unfortunately there was a bounty on her as well as the other people who had just caused all of the commotion a few minutes ago.

She wore a comfortable outfit and her blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail with small tendrils the tussled in the soft breeze around her hood. Soon a stormtrooper on the scene stopped her and asked for an identity. Koda sighed.

"Don't you people have better things to do than scan for an I.D on a girl? Such as taking care of a crime scene over there?"

she asked as the trooper just seemed to stand there looking at her. He then seemed to look closer at her as she tried to convince him to go away from her. By the shoulder pad on his shoulder, she could tell he was a captain or a lieutenant. He then motioned for an extra guard to come over with a datapad. He looked up something and then handing the datapad back, he raised his blaster at the young girl claiming that he was going to turn in her bounty. Koda sighed again.

"I don't think so."

Swiping his blaster away and out of his hands into her own, she took him off of his feet and then setting the blaster to stun, she stunned him and then dropping it, she went onto his buddy and since he was just in her way, she swiped the blaster then the feet and jumped over him taking off running. This was not a good day for the Empire.

Luther approached [member="Tendra Daklan"]. He hadn't found any sign of the wounded woman, but that was no surprise. Locals didn't really like First Order troopers, even if they bandaged their wounds.

He thought he might have recognised the boy, but it could have easily been his imagination. He hadn't been posted long on Yalara and it was likely that he'd be reassigned before he got to know the locals well. He clipped his blaster to his belt, letting it hang. He didn't want to frighten the boy, however Rook held his pointed towards the ground.

"Hey there civilian, just need to ask you a few questions." He had a look around. The boy was hauling a sled full of crops. Luther didn't recognise them, but that wasn't so surprising. The boy himself looked a little tussled. He could have been involved in the local conflict, but being dirty didn't mean he had been in any fights. "We're searching for some wanted criminals. Have you seen..." he held the datapad closer to read the names. "[member="Seraya Whisperwind"], [member="Koda Berus"] or Kalroth A'ree? Seraya is a 5 foot woman with black hair, Koda is slightly taller with blonde hair and Kalroth is a Aqualish."

He changed the datapad to a writing format so he could note down the boy's response.

The scene of the crime had slowly but surely been cleared over the hours, the large crowds that gathered having gone about their business. Off to the side, [member="Koda Berus"] had her scuffle with the First Order soldiers, managing to escape from them without a scratch. Unbeknownst to the Padawan, she too was being watched from the shadows. Atop one of the taller buildings of the city, a group of four gazed upon the destruction that had taken place, along with a Jedi that was making her escape.

"Let her run. You will have to catch her off guard, which may prove difficult," an almost robotic voice had warned the mercenaries, eliciting a laugh from the Weequay duo. The Mandalorian remained silent, having already brought up her bounty on his helmet display. "Contact me when you have captured her." With that, the cyborg turned from the others, remaining hidden until nightfall while the hired guns did their job.

Running his fingers through his hair, Tendra closely examined the wanted poster on the datapad, simple relieved that he hadn't gotten in trouble yet. His father was a Stormtrooper as well, at least he had been the last time he saw him. The lad genuinely had no clue who these people were, having never seen them in his entire life. Looking up to [member="Luther Ando"] who was taller than himself, Tendra just shrugged, unsure of how to break the bad news to the soldier.

"Sorry, man. Sir. I don't know who those people are, but I bet they were responsible for all that damage earlier in the day. Karking terrorists, right?" He was trying to relate, for he always wanted to be on the good side of the Stormtroopers that occupied the planet. The First Order had done some good things for the people, and his family was one of those that supported their cause. "Really, I'm just trying to deliver this stuff and not get robbed on the way."
