A Commoner Meets The Queen

RIP Carlyle Rausgeber

"It's all been bloody marvellous..."
"And yet the First Order faces the same issues." Carlyle replied with a smirk, "Still, if you're unwilling or unable to bring them to heel, then spread the profits from your richer systems to those which you have deemed, poorer." Carlyle paused, to let his statement sink in. "Given you are a Core world, I would imagine that you'd be far richer than some poor yokels from the Unknown Regions, no?" He chuckled a little, but his eyes met hers. He was about to be dead serious.

"Given the volatile geo-political climate we live in, I'd say it'd be necessary on your part to increase military expenditure." Carlyle informed her, "The fact is, is that for any government to thrive, harsh measures must be taken." There was some lamentation within his tone. Perhaps it was regret, anger, or a little bit of all three. The officer seemed to mull over his own musings for a few brief seconds, before returning to the conversation at hand. "A strong military, should not be taken as a sign of aggression from you, but rather one which exhibits your commitment to your people's freedom and independence."

Kay nodded. Spreading the wealth to better help the other worlds to grow was just such a thing that she was implimenting. She raised a brow slightly as [member="Carlyle Rausgeber"] touched on the presumed wealth that Commenor had. They were richer than most, yes, but there was little doubt in her mind that the First Order's wealth dwarfed her own. Their population, their military, their industry, all of it was a powerhouse that could easily take over her own sector. Yet it was merely one trade route deal and donations that kept the war machine at bay. It was their only use to such a large power.

She had another sip of her tea as Carlyle gave his words of advice. She had to agree with him. It just made common sense. "You're right. Our military is meant to keep us from being defenceless. And as we grow, our military budget shouldn't be left behind. So I'll see to it that that happens."

Kay remained silent for a moment as she seemed to be pondering on something. It was probably a silly notion, but she presented it to him anyways. Afterall it couldn't hurt. "Your advice is well received gentlemen. Should the First Order not desire your services any longer, there'll be places for you here. Your knowledge of military strategy and your experiences in battle make you highly valuable." She wouldn't even think of asking him ro divulge First Order secrets. That'd be stupid and would only make it seem as though she had wished to just use him to gain those, when really she had no reason to know about them at all.
