Private A Cold Cradle

The freighter was looking quite pristine. Scrubbing the walls of the hallway, Gwyneira Krayt huffed from the growing back pain. She frequently cleaned the Tauntaun, exterior and interior both, and kept it in mint condition. Running routine fixes, priming the engine and keeping technology up to date. The customized Mercury Class Star Courier was way better cared for than her own apartment. Then again, she lived here more than that apartment.

She wiped her brow as she stood off, taking the dirty towel bucket to the refresher. As she dumped it down the drain, her astromech Mini chimed in through the com system, telling her her guest had arrived. Gwyn paused before throwing the empty bucket into the shower and slamming it shut. Darting for the other refresher, she called, "Let her in! There's snacks on the table, and drinks! I'll be out in a moment!"

The droid's snark could be heard, even through monotone binary, <Ill prepared, as always.>

As Gwyn hurriedly got ready, the small astromech rolled over to the front door and lowered the ramp, letting the company in. Mini found himself staring up at a Jedi Master with long, lovely brown hair and a sturdy form. She was clearly a warrior, though not the Mandalorian kind.

<Hey there, Jedi. Come in. Gwyn didn't think you would come this soon, thought she could clean one more room. Eh, at least the hallway is clean now. But she'll be out in a moment and stuff. Follow me, she's a terrible cook but she tried to make snacks for you. Don't get too excited about the drinks, it's just water.>

Without waiting for response, he turned and rolled towards the kitchen. Inside were decently made snacks, made with whole foods and healthy ingredients. Of course, that biscuit would prove a bit too dry, and the texture for that apple crumble would be too mushy. It would be a couple minutes of waiting, and Mini would drable out to the Jedi, <I hope you can help her. Gwyn is terrified right now, has no idea how to do this. Her mother treated her like bantha poodoo, she has awful experience from that. She wants what's best for the little gal, but she's so unsure of herself. As always.>

A couple moments later, Gwyneira Krayt entered the room. She was wearing pants, a white blouse, and wearing a necklace with a Mythosaur charm on it. Her hair was still wet from showering and let down. There also was some mild makeup to bring life to her ghost white face.

She shot an inquisitive glare towards Mini, knowing fully well that he likely was rambling to Valery in his dry, pessimistic way. She then smiled at Valery, approaching her with a nervous but warm expression.

"Master Noble! I hope the journey wasn't difficult. Thank you for coming."

Walking up to the door and tapping the buzzer, Valery expected to be greeted by Gwyneira, who she hadn't seen in quite some time — after hearing about her pregnancy, she made the time to travel back into Enclave space to offer her advice, and help an old friend and ally. But rather than Gwyneira, she was greeted by her astromech, who quickly reminded her of her old droid friend from before her stasis.

Both are funny, and a little sassy, but likely very caring deep inside.

"I'm sure the snacks will be alright, and water is fine," Valery said with a soft smile before she got seated and waited for Gwyn to arrive. But while she did, her droid companion turned back to her and expressed his concerns about the woman. Valery dipped her head lightly in response and set her glass of water away, "I understand what she's going through to some extent. I'll do my best to help her," she promised before trying some of the snacks.

They were pretty decent but not amazing, so she was already considering sharing some recipes and tips, but that could wait for now.

"Heyyy!" Valery called out when Gwyn finally arrived not long after. She looked like she just stepped out of the shower, but that didn't bother her. "You can just call me Valery here, it's fine. But how have you been? And congratulations as well, of course!" she said with a bright smile, clearly excited for the woman.

Gwyn beamed, clear joy in her eyes as she spoke excitedly, "Thank you, Master Noble-er, Valery. I'm so happy!"

The Mandalorian girl turned and sat on the table, pausing before lowering her hand to her stomach, where her baby was growing. A clear expression of nervousness was on her face. She looked to Valery Noble Valery Noble and asked, "Valery, what should I expect? I've been doing research, looking stuff up like what not to eat, the symptoms. But I'm still nervous. This came unexpectedly and I have never done this before! Should I just stop fighting? Training? Exercising? I don't want to put her in danger! Is there anything I should
eat? Wha-

She just stopped, blinked and sheepishly hunkered a bit. She nervously chuckled, "S-sorry, I was just unloading everything at once there."

"I'm very happy for you as well. It's a beautiful thing to become a mother," Valery said, beaming a warm smile of her own when she noticed just how happy Gwyn was. When Valery found out she was pregnant, it had been mostly shocking because she had been without her partner. But when he returned about a month before Vera was born, she could truly be happy about what was happening in her life.

That happiness, she noticed in Gwyn as well.

But while she was happy, there was also the natural worrying about it all, and that's exactly why Valery was here, "You should stop anything that puts the baby's life in danger, and fighting is the biggest thing there. Even if you're not badly injured, taking hits to your stomach can already endanger the child," Valery warned with a more serious tone.

"But training or exercise is fine, as long as you listen to your own body. Staying in good shape will help with labor, and even with getting back in shape after giving birth. But if you feel dizziness, shortness of breath, or any physical pains when you exercise, stop immediately — always listen to your body and if you're not sure, contact someone with medical training."

Valery then paused for a moment and grinned, "Sooo... do you two already know if it's going to be a boy or a girl?"

Gwyn nodded intently at all the instructions given. Okay, I need to let Volo Dragr Volo Dragr know I'm out of commission, and I need someone else to take over marshalling of Kaddak.

She then smiled when Valery Noble Valery Noble asked about the child's gender. She then looked away and shrugged.

"Actually, I could sense her from the moment she was conceived. And I already know she's a girl."

She sat down, reaching for a pitcher of water and pouring some into a glass, "It's bizarre. My Force Sense has always been so strong. And now I sense her, constantly, inside. It's the craziest feeling. And I love it, but I feel like... glass."

She lifted the water to her lips, sipping it. Despite all her fine motor control, her hand slightly shook. She lowered the glass to the table. "Valery, I'm so excited. But I'm also scared. Terrified, even. I don't want to jeopardize her while I'm pregnant. And I have no idea how to be a mother. My own mother... well, she was not the best example to follow. And aside her, I only ever had Shai... and Shai, she..."

Gwyn grimaced. She was finally able to look at her without feeling unbridled rage. She knew she wanted to have her old relationship with her back, but she still felt that anger and agony remembering what she had done. Efforts were being made, finally. But it was a long road ahead.

Gwyn sighed, putting that aside for now. "I don't know what I'm doing, Valery. And I don't want to step in the wrong direction."

"Well, congratulations with your daughter, then," Valery said with a warm smile. She figured it out very early on herself like that as well when she got pregnant with Vera, and she remembered just how amazing it made her feel at the time. But she also very much understood feeling incredibly weak and fragile. The fears of motherhood and protecting the child while pregnant especially resonated with her.

"It's normal and okay to be a little scared; it's a big responsibility. I never really knew my mother and had no mother figure growing up, so I was in a similar position. Consult the people who can help and as long as you always think to benefit the well-being of your kid, it's going to be alright. You'll develop those motherly instincts very quickly," Valery said with a slight smirk.

"During your pregnancy, exercise and do what you can to stay healthy, but never take any risks. Once the kid is born, you're naturally going to worry and keep them close as well. I barely slept at all for weeks, just so I could watch her fall asleep and be there when she cried or woke up. It was... demanding, but you don't think about doing it."

"You just do because it's what your child needs," Valery paused for a moment to take a sip from her drink and looked at Gwyn, "I think being scared or worried might actually be a good thing — it helps make sure that you don't neglect problems and really focus on making sure your daughter is okay."
