DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Gene-locked Activation Trigger: To ensure that none other than it’s intended bearer may wield the ‘Mortalis,’ the Stormtrooper Veteran had ordered his weapon be outfitted with an advanced biometrically locked trigger. One that would only allow the full use of the Vibroaxe variant should the man’s genetic markers, rife with vitality, connect with the embedded sensors built into the weapon's haft. This would require a specialized glove to be worn beneath the gauntlet, one which would allow the sensors to breach through the standard armourweave bodyglove worn by the First Order’s Stormtrooper Corps. If none of the requirements were met, the ‘Mortalis’ would then be rendered ineffective, becoming nothing more than a sharpened bludgeoning weapon. Then, should the aforementioned stipulations weren’t met, the integrated shock-filament would activate sending a high-powered stun pulse through the weapon and leave the unauthorized individual crippled into electrified agony.
  • Phrik Monomolecular Chain Teeth: Machine sharpened to the width of a singular atom, the Chain teeth of the ‘Mortalis’ bequeaths its bearer a weapon of absurd cutting power, and an edge - thanks to the nigh-indestructible nature of Phrik - that will not be instantly dulled of shatter the first time its activation trigger is gunned. While it would chew through starship hulls, bulkheads, flesh and armour with incredible ease, the teeth would find themselves unable to find purchase in notably dense metals - such as Beskar or Neutronium. Instead, they would grind away at the surface and slowly, ever so slowly, dull the monomolecular edge before finally breaking through.
Strengths:
  • Rending Executioner: Having begun its life as a simple Vibrosaw, the ‘Mortalis’ was able to chew through the thick trunks of Greel trees and dense thickets of vegetation. In addition, the cutting tool was able to shear through starship hulls and bulkheads, as well as being used a weapon; albeit large and cumbersome to be wielded with any artistry. With the tool falling into the hands of the Stormtrooper Veteran, and the alterations were made, the modified Vibrosaw was able to bite deep into the enemy and hack through flesh and armor with ease - more so now than ever before.
  • Plasmatic Resistance: As the Phrikite Ore was combined with an equal measure of Tydirium, the resultant production was that of a nigh-indestructible alloy known to many as Phrik. Due to the purity of its combination and it’s mysterious atomic properties, the metallic compound proves to be remarkably resilient to the near-exotic weapon(s) of the Jedi and their fallen kin. Thus, as the majority of the “Mortalis” is plated in this rare amalgamation, it’s able to turn aside the plasmatic weapons and offers some protection against energetic/projectile weapons.
Weaknesses:
  • Inelegant Artistry: Heavy. Large. Cumbersome. With it’s storied origins being that of a logging tool, the Vibrosaw (Before it’s modifications) was not meant to be used as a weapon. The sole purpose of it’s existence was to cut down towering pillars of nature-bound timber, however, it’s conversion to a tool of war was made by necessity. Therefore, when brandished in battle by a weaker man, the Vibrosaw variant is difficult to employ effectively as one would a Sword. However, as Torian, the sole owner of the ‘Mortalis’ is not a weaker man the difficulties significantly reduced but ever present.
  • Gore-Choked: One of the greatest flaws in the design of the ‘Mortalis’ is that of its uncanny ability to get clogged with ragged bits of flesh and armour, should the weapon be used on a consistent basis without proper maintenance. This means that it would stutter, and rage against its inability to operate as it was designed - and if pressed, may very well cease functioning entirely. With the dual, and independently reciprocating chains such an eventuality would come to pass far sooner than if it were a single set of monomolecular teeth.

  • DESCRIPTION
The ‘Mortalis’ MKVII Pattern Vibrosaw was the furthest thing from a subtle weapon. While it was a heavily modified variant of the standard Greel Vibrosaw, it was primarily an axe with two sets of nigh-indestructible powered teeth - that ran along two independent edges much like an ancient chainsaw. With its origins running along more humble lines, the modernized modification was a horrific tool of shock-warfare. It was designed to bite deep, rip and tear, and eviscerate all that stands before it, where more archaic blades are meant to merely slice and cut. The ‘Mortalis’ howls with personified rage as it’s activated, rising ever higher in pitch as the servomotors rapidly cycle the tightly knit reciprocating teeth. This mechanical Cleaver brings with it the gravitic aura of intimidation, all the while bearing the promise of unimaginable pain before succumbing to the frigid kiss of death. Just as nothing bites deeper than a Vibroaxe, so too can be said about a wound inflicted by the ‘Mortalis.’ For the hooked teeth, even should they graze the flesh of an enemy, will give into their inhuman, and ravenous hunger - biting deeper with every motorized pulse. It would chew through fibrous muscle, sinew, and bone with almost surgical ease, leaving the foe to die one of the bloodiest battlefield deaths in recorded history. Something rarely seen in the modern era, as most wounds inflicted by hostiles are instantaneously cauterized by the magnetically contained heat of sun-kissed plasma.

Despite its simplistic veneer, the ‘Mortalis’ MKVII Pattern Vibrosaw requires more maintenance to keep the weapon in functioning order, than that of a standard blaster rifle. Utilizing a multitool, the Vibrosaw variant is disassembled so that the bearer may purge whatever filth and grime would build up within the ‘Mortalis’ during operation. This may or may not include shattered sections of armour, or ragged strands of sentient gore, depending entirely upon who had the unfortunate pleasure of becoming the brutal weapon’s latest victim. In this disassembled state, should the impossible come to pass and the Phrik chain teeth dull or break, they’d be quickly replaced with an alternative until another set of the rare metallic compound can be requisitioned. Whilst the weapon is whole, and during its operation, the Vibrosaw becomes an insatiable beast, thirsting for power cells should the activation cycle be continuous - rather than gunned in economic spurts. Thankfully, due to the foresight of its bearer, the ‘Mortalis’ offers an access port to replace the spent power cells (Interchangeable with those commonly found in Blaster rifles.) with relative ease.

With it’s weight on the wrong side of conservative, the Weapon was meant to be wielded with Two-hands - however as it’s bearer cares little for finesse and was genetically uplifted above his Human state, the ‘Mortalis” is wielded with a single hand but lacks any of the artistry that comes from one brandishing a lighter weapon, or a sword. The weapon wasn’t meant to slash or pierce. This Vibroaxe variant was designed to batter a foe’s sphere of defence asunder through sheer strength of arms, and adding to the fighter’s ferocity with devastating effect. What was meant to fell towering trees, had been perverted into a weapon of war; one that would serve as both a tool of terror and an improvised counter to blaster doors, bulkheads, and provided the bearer was Lucky (or Cursed, depending upon your point of view) enough to stand a chance against a Godly Warrior brandishing a shimmering plasmatic blade.

To the Stormtrooper Veteran, this weapon was nameless, for only the greatest of their kind could earn such an honourable praise - however with the War against the Galactic Alliance upon the horizon, it was inevitable that this headsman’s axe would claim it's well- earned epithet.
