Last night, General FN-999 and over three quarters of the Imperial 7th Army vanished from their post in Maphoreem without a trace. Army and navy officials with close ties to the general have also disappeared, as have Alge Imperial Shipyards Engineering's entire board of directors.
Just as concerning is the loss of the frigate Bellerophon, both Cato-class fleet carriers, and twenty Palmerian-class heavy cruisers, all of whom had been en route from the Imperial frontier to reinforce the fortress worlds. Their tracking beacons were last detected in the Hapes Cluster before going dark. Reconnaissance vessels deployed to the area have found nothing but routine traffic, further confounding the ongoing investigation.
Of the remaining members of the 7th Army, none have any recollection of when the others left and where they could be. In fact, they seem to have no memories of the previous day at all. Mass drugging is suspected to be the cause of this collective amnesia.
The only trace of the general, his associates, and the majority of his army is a handwritten letter deposited in one of the barracks of Cholganna. It has no address and carries a cryptic message, likely meant to be understood only by those familiar with him. It reads as follows:
A new sun is rising, and I have returned to my true home to witness it. I will take my place in the second of the first, and the cycle of failure is broken.
